My brother and his girls are here from Texas, so today is amusement park day. I'm too old (and fat) for this stuff! I am, however, 55 this year and qualify for the Senior Citizens discount.
Barb - oh how I loved Kennywood! I grew up in Castle Shannon, a suburb of Pittsburgh. We went to Kennywood every summer and it was something we looked forward to. Every June our grade school had a school picnic at the park and we would get on the old yellow school buses at 8 in the morning and head out for a long day at the park with discounted tickets. Our parents would all arrive later in the day with huge picnic baskets and we'd meet them at the pavilions for lunch.
What a wonderful time - no one had to worry about leaving their kids in the park all day, there was always an older brother or neighbor you could find if you needed something. I loved Noah's Ark, the bumper cars, the boats in the pond, and all the old wooden roller coasters - the Jack Rabbit, the Thunderbolt and the Racers.
We were there 2 summers ago. My DH also grew up outside of Pittsburgh and went there often as a kid. We lived in the eastern part of PA so I had never been there.
