Oh my goodness - that is so sad! I'm so sorry!

Oh how terrible. I'm so very sorry.

I hate to ask, but were there any survivors?

I'm from Tampa and you have my deepest sympathies. Unfortunately, there were no survivors. This is such a sad, sad story.

All three occupants of the plane were lost. Please forgive me I'm still in shock, as I saw this on the 11 PM news. I met Patty when we moved to FL almost 6 years ago. She waited table in the restaurant we ate in most mornings for 4 months while we renovated our kitchen. I was bored and asked if they needed another waitress and she hired me on the spot. It had been years since I'd worked as a waitress but it's like riding a bike. LOL You just have to learn the menu. She had the most infectious laugh, it made you laugh. Working the morning shift on the week end is hectic but we sure had fun laughing at each other and the customers. We called it slinging grits!
Patty lost both her mother and an older sister to mesothlimona (I know I've spelled this wrong but it's late). We thought she had this beat. Coming from NJ she hired the ice company to dump "snow" in her front yard just before Christmas so the neighborhood kids could have a snowball fight! She would decorate the yard with all kinds of decorations from the dollar store complete with pink flamingos. LOL For someone who didn't have alot she had a big heart for kids.
I attended a memorial service for one of our customers last week and the minister said that Steve had graduated. I'd never heard that before. Well Patty you have graduated! I'm so proud to have known you and called you my friend. I'm gonna miss you girl. Luv ya. M

This is indeed a sad event! My sympathy to the family and you for your terrible loss.

That is the second angel flight to crash recently. Just a couple of weeks ago an angel flight crashed while taking off in Iowa City. The 2 year old girl, who was the patient, died. Her mom and the pilot had only minor injuries.
I am so sorry for the loss of your friend.

She sounds like she was such a great friend! Those kind are the hardest to lose, girl. I am so sorry. Also for the other two victim's families. ((msmarion))

I come from a family and community of aviation and pilots and have to wonder why on earth this organization would allow an 81 year old man to pilot an Angel Flight, much less any passenger flight.

I am sorry you lost a friend - very tragic.

Thank you for saying that, wantoretire_did...I AGREE....WHY is an 81 year old piloting a plane????? Remember the YOUNGSTER a few years ago who also died trying to fly?? SOMEONE NEEDS TO GET A CLUE......shouting here!

Thank you all for the kind words and support. The FAA announced today that weather was not a factor in the crash.
The young man will be buried tomorrow afternoon. We are still waiting for Patty's sister and BIL to arrive from Reno so arrangements can be made.
