Lost my grandmother

My paternal grandmother passed away yesterday. She was 82 and was married to my grandfather for 61 years. We were actually surprised, b/c she was in relatively good health for her age. My grandfather is not, he has Alzheimers and Parkinsons. From what I'm told, he is going back and forth between awareness of the truth and telling someone to go pick her up from various places or looking for her. The hardest part will be seeing Grandpa without Grandma. I just can't wrap my brain around that, or how he will cope without her. She was caring for him at home, he will have to go somewhere else now. If he asks me where she is, I think I will fall apart.

We'll head to Florida for the memorial service later this week. I have always known it was part of my grandmothers final wishes that I would play her favorite hymn, Amazing Grace, on my flute at this service. Though I still practice weekly, and the music is not difficult, I have not played in front of an audience in 20 years! I am very nervous about holding myself together for this. I want to memorize it so I can close my eyes. ;o(

My moms says "bring the kids," my dad could use the happy distraction.
