The other notorious scammer we had on this board was Tahni.

Been here since the beginning, and on the Garden Party before that. I remember the Garden Party's "virutal cruise", which was code for a huge surprise package to one of the members. I think that was in early 96.

I lurked for some time on the pool and spa forum before I joined in 2006 while still under Spike's reign. Many wonderful people on that forum who helped me through my major pool remodel (Lindsay CA being one of them).

I think I started coming to the KT in 2007. Lots of wonderful people here too!!

I have been here a long time. Paid my dues. Was with /Garden Party before. Remember Dogs in Elk? Funniest thing going! Not sure if that was GP or KT. I think I have always been Rosebud here.

I was a lurker. does that count? I don't know if it was at the beginning but when I thought about joining they wanted to impose a charge so I didn't join. I am a proud member today. I too remember Tahni. I didn't send her anything

Haven't been visiting the KT all that long, but a regular in the gardening forums early on in the beginning. I was the first person to post in the Garden Party! A big, rowdy group of us talked Spike into creating the "Party " because we kept getting way, way off topic. It always packed with hilarious people and their stories.

Back then, many (most) used our real names in the beginning. I switched after a stalking incident.

I started out on the gardening side in 2001, so I guess that makes me a newbie. Then I was remodeling my kitchen and discovered the Kitchens forum. It was Kitchens and Baths back then. Once the kitchen was finished I moved on to Cooking and other forums. I was sent to the teacups once by Spike and also coughed up $15 to participate in Kitchens after he started charging for some forums. After the trip to Disney, I had to register again with a different email address and new name. At some point I realized I could use my original name (dedtired) but none of the names had capital letters at the beginning.

I joined in 1999 with a different name. I enjoy all of it.

I joined sometime in the '90's, but I don't remember exactly when. It was before it went pay to play with Spike, and then I paid when it changed. I've always been Tami Ohio. I miss Bonnie Granny, Murphy, Summer, Gabby, and so many others!

I play here and Cooking mostly, and love the Computer Help when I need it. I don't go to knitting forum much anymore. It got to be all asking for patterns, and no discussion, but I do pop in occassionally. And Craft and Dec too.

I've been here since '98 or '99 and used the name Bettye/AZ for a long time. I did pay to play also. I remember Wanda, Ruthie, Glenda, and Ginger were here when I arrived. Goodness, that has been a long time! I'm happy to see some of the "oldies" checking in again! I don't post very often any more but I do read quite a lot.

Who was the scammer asking for stuff for a wedding? I sent my old wedding bouquet to her, and then "someone" found her log in and sent me a message, saying I'd been "scammed" and offering to send that back. Others sent money, a dress, etc.

Hmm, I was in high school when my mom introduced me to the KT, so maybe 1999 or 2000? I didn't post for years though.

This is really bringing back memories. I mentioned cookie exchange, and that was with Tahni. She did send a box of cookies, so I couldn't complain there. Does anyone else remember someone posting about a man and child, plus the grandmother who had lost everything in a mobile fire, I believe, and could we donate. Well, dumb me sent shirts to all of them, and never heard a word.....plus the person who had posted the original thread no longer was here!! Also, what about Beth in Texas, I think, who had the husband who was enamored of Tahni, if I remember correctly. I think she moved back to the east.

Yeah, Tahni's "niece" had banana curls which I haven't seen since the early '50's. Some of us figured it was a childhood pic of Tahni.

The one who died was really a trip, though.

I know another potential scammer who realized she/he couldn't capitalize on the generosity of the KT (the one who said she/he adopted her/his sister's three kids). Smacked of Tahni VERY much, but many believed his/her story.

My son had a 2 year internet relationship with Tahni.
Long story.
Mixed feelings.
Ended in a phone conversation with asking if she was Tanya Wright or Tahni.
Goodbye forever was her response at the end of the phone conversation

I think I joined in 1998 or 1999. i had just gotten the internet on Webtv and found the Caregiving Forum, started posting on the Cooking Forum and then reading here and everyone made me laugh so I joined in. I should start posting at the Cooking Forum again, I really enjoyed it at the time and everyone who was there. I so needed the laughs here at the KT at the time while taking care of my Mom.

Can't remember the exact date, but I do remember paying the $15 to be a subscriber and remember Spike.

I really enjoy the warmth of the folks here on KT and how they respond to the variety of messages when folks need help or a shoulder.

Came in around 1998. Can't remember what my name was then. Even got to ride on the teacups once.

Been here since SPIKE days, but I still tend to just lurk.

did spike send us to Disney Land....he sure did......Actually it was a blue screen that went to the Disney site.

We used to call it "rideing the teacups"

I had to email Spike two or three times to beg my way back to the KT......lol

I came on the second day. It was so fun I would stay up late and just laugh. After I'd been here quite a while Spike banned anyone with a Road Runner addy I emailed him 3 times but he never answered so I could only read and then came the pay to join. After he left I came back but I don't post much anymore.

Having met joyfulguy, I can assure you that he IS a male, not "reputably".

I got here in June 1999 & remember a lot ot the "originals" too. I remember the infamous Tahni as well.

I remember one poster who took it upon herself to find out the average age of all the posters and it was 47... I was 45 then and now I am 60.

Where has the time gone? We've laughed, cried, supported & prayed for one another here. This was my first "internet" home & even though I don't post as much, it still carries so many memories for me---mostly good.

I think it was $15 per year. But I don't remember how many years it was that we had to pay before it went back to being free.

I remember getting Disney on my screen, when I was operating here ... and figuring there was some kind of malfunction of my computer, the internet, or something. It took a few times for me to wise up to the reality that I was getting my wrist slapped by Spike for indiscretions.

I've been at several gatherings of KT folks, and met a few individually. One was planned in Minnesota for the time that I was to be going through ... but I was to be in North Carolina (and linked to visiting niece in Georgia, later), so was sad to have missed it on the date that they picked.

I've always used my present official name, but more recently have taken on the "ole joyful" usage much of the time.

Memo to some of you who are mainly lurkers - hey, come on out, express yourself: don't be afraid of the sound of your own voice. We'd like to hear what's going on with you.

I have been here for a pretty long time. I remember being sent to Disney once. Remember we weren't supposed to mention prayers. I also remember someone making a special forum for those of us who wanted to ask for prayers.It was called The Son's Place, I think.I made a lot of wonderful friends on that site too. I remember when I first had my WebTV and Pat Lavender was such a help to me. I miss her and have been wondering about her for a long time.Remember Ducky? We had a meet here in Titusville.Twice, I think and I met with Nita and Lisa and a few others.It was wonderful. I am happy to see Dorothy,and Ginger posting again.It is like having a really large and wonderful family.

There must have been several people that left because of the no prayers because I left here and joined a forum that Betty started with someone else. Betty ended up being the only "owner" of the forum and we were together for years. It was the Cozy Den. There are still a few of us still there but many go to Facebook now. There were several get-to-gethers from the Cozy Den. Most of them were small. I met 4 of the ladies but at different times.

I was also here early on, but had to register again in 2001. I have a recipe I copied from Ginger, that was in the recipe exchange in 1999. I know I was here a bit before going to the other forums. Been a long time. Nice to se so many still here, but I had to limit my time for a few years.

I started in the garden forums and I think Stacy told me about the KT...this was way back around 1999. My son was little still and we lived in the hills down south. I was miserable and felt so alone. The KT kept me in touch with the outside world. Got to ride the teacups once and had to beg forgiveness to be able to get back here. Don't remember what I posted.

I moved to Tahlequah Oklahoma in 2002, and was very lonely for all my friends.

Found the KT, and joined up at tahlequahgardens.

Later, when we had to pay I changed to OklaMoni.

Then, still later, after they changed me to oklamoni I found out, with a special request I may get my capital letters back, and I requested them.

But the first time I came to gardenweb I came as giantcycle99. I was all over the gardenweb reading, and liked the banter at the KT after an initial shock, when someone wasn't so nice.

I met so many KT people at Buzzards in Texas, and Sandie's in Iowa.
