she has this:

Infection With The JS/Redir Virus It keeps popping up when she tries to get here

and it will not allow her to get into the garden web OR the KT

I already told her to shut down her pc and restart: Nope didn't help

told her to run a deep scan with her virus protection

Haven't heard from her since.

any suggestions?

techy DH says download google Chrome and surf w that it is less prone to JS(java script) viruses...hope that helps ~ liz

I'm not knowledgable, but it reminds me of an Orrefors vase I got in Sweden, where the Orrefors craftsmen will take vases that have an imperfection and etch a design to eliminate, incorporate, or otherwise hide the flaw. I'm sure I bought mine at the factory store, but it does not say Orrefors on the bottom. Yours is simply lovely, I'm sure you enjoy it!

Chickweed, Stellaria media, a cool weather annual weed. Very easily pulled up but do it before it goes to seed!! Also edible if you care to get rid of it that way :-)

Call and electrician see if he can add an electrical box there. Im not sure the table was meant to be here, but later it could always be converted to another recessed light or wafer LED. If not look into a much larger taller arch lamp that will reach over the table.

I have it too. It came in with another virus that I got rid of. I scanned Malwarebytes and it didn't take it off. Had it on my other computer and had this one as a spare and here it is again. I use microsoft security essentials and it got past that too. Looking forward to seeing what other's suggest.
This virus hijacks your searches and opens other links. Joann should be able to get on her from the desktop link if she has one.
I learned not to open an older link on a website - that is where I got it this time.

she needs to go to the google website and you can download on the right side. it's a web browser ~ liz

I use Google Chrome most often, and I really like it.
It's a browser, just like Internet Explorer and Firefox.

I doubt she can get to the website. The virus redirects your searches so it would take her somewhere else.

I was having problems last night. I did ran spybot search and destroy..then I ran Malwarebytes Anti malware and then I ran my Avg twice.. I also use House-call..I am going there next and then I am leaving for the day and night..Mini vacation!
So far today nothing has happened while I have been here..The only thing that found anything was Malware..Have her clean out all of her files and see if she can go to Houscall and run the free scan there.

I was getting a warning popup last night and 1st thing this morning from my AVG on this. Ran several different scans and nothing was found. This morning, I uninstalled AVG and downloaded Avast (recommended by someone here at the KT) and ran a scan. It also didn't find anything. So far, I haven't seen the warning...but I'm still a bit paranoid.

This morning I was doing a search about this virus? trojan? whatever it is..and saw this

At the time I was there, no one had responded to the question..but she might want to keep a check on that and see what suggestions are made.

I had something once like joann had. I couldn't get to anything, just re-directed. I called on the phone our sec software 1-800 # and they logged into my computer remotely. It took them about half a day (they were in India) and two different people to get it fixed. Plus we lost everything. My dad had to bring his computer to the Geek Squad for a similar problem. Thats probably what she is doing. I'll have to have my some check on the Chrome Google stuff for ours, sounds good.

With anything like this you still need to take the normal precautions. Get a good firewall, not the lame excuse that comes in Windows. Microsoft doesn't do many things right. Antivirus needs to be kept current. Spywareblaster should be installed as should a couple malware detectors. If you have trouble, run them in safe mode. Clean out cookies and temp files frequently. Check Windows Updates weekly. And if you run Internet Explorer, plan on trouble - it's the swiss cheese of browsers for security. And we've been seeing a resurgence of problems with it and with naive users over the past few weeks.

Computers need maintenance, just like a car. And you have to be careful about opening attachments and the like. One of the latest threats is through .PDF files so Adobe Reader is vulnerable. I haven't used Adobe Reader for years.

You can also go to an online virus scanner and check your machine if you're suspicious of your current one.

Surf safe folks.
