Car shopping/looking

I am "considering" the possibility of trading cars. I have a Buick LaCrosse with 98,000 miles on it...although the mechanic tells me it is good for another 100,000...but would like some of your experiences. Since I am 71, my kids are concerned about me driving long distances by myself if my car might have some problems...but no promises that I wouldn't have a problem with a new one. I have On-Star and AAA.

I really do not know where to start...I am considering something like a cross-over so it is easier for me to get in and out of...need good mpg...relatively inexpensive (probably a program car with high teens or lower 20's)...when I got this one, I said I would not not buy brand new again....remember, I just built a new house! LOL. It must have a comfortable ride and seats, not the deep bucket seats (I have had both hips replaced and it seems those seats push against those metal joints) with lumbar support. I also would like to have a back-up camera...certainly do not want to back over a child! Also good visibility with minimum dead spaces.

Anyone know of such a vehicle so I have an idea where to start looking...I am not able to run around and walk car lots. Thanks bunches!
