Eight things you want to do before you die: See my greatgrand kids, travel some, write a book, do a lot more volunteering, spend time with the people and things that mean the most to me, tell my mom what she means to me, live with Twinkie during the very last day and lastly - leave the world a little better place than it was when I got here!

Seven things you believe in: Family, love, God, that the U.S. is the greatest place in the world (in spite of our many problems!), the power of positive thinking, the work ethic and the fact that icecream should be 3 of the 4 food groups.

There are some good things about getting old though. You can say any obnoxious thing and just have someone say well, s/he's just old! The older you get, the less peer pressure there is, by attrition. However, gettin' old ain't all it's cracked up to be. Hardly worth it for that senior cup of coffee at McD's. But then again, you CAN hide your own Easter eggs. You may have had two bypass surgeries, a hip replacement, new knees, fought prostate cancer and diabetes be half blind, can't hear anything quieter than a jet engine, take 40 different medications that make ya dizzy, winded, and subject to blackouts. have bouts with dementia and poor circulation, hardly feel hands or feet, can't remember if you're 85 or 92 lost all my friends, but hey... still have the driver's license! And of course be careful when you make the same noises as the coffee maker. Grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway, The good fortune to run into the ones I do, and The eyesight to tell the difference. 'OLD' IS WHEN.. Your sweetie says, 'Let's go upstairs and make love,' and you answer, 'Pick one; I can't do both!' 'OLD' IS WHEN... Your friends compliment you on your new alligator shoes and you're barefoot. 'OLD' IS WHEN... A sexy babe catches your fancy and your pacemaker opens the garage door, 'OLD' IS WHEN... Going braless pulls all the wrinkles out of your face. 'OLD' IS WHEN... Thanks so much for the info on these amazing beneficial herbs Strawberry Hill, I will definitely plant all of them for my cat friends. I will cover the catnip with a small cage contraption so that they'll only be able to get to the new growth... :-) That is such great news - that after so much rain still no BS on your potted roses. We also had mega liters of constant rain for 2 days and I decided not to use the corn flour dusting, and there is not one BS leaf on any rose....just as you said, the soil is the key....I also gave the BS prone roses an extra teaspoon of Gypsum as you advised (along with the Potassium Sulfate) ...just before the rain started falling. I watered in in very quickly with alkaline tap water, the rain did the rest. I think that's another great idea - to keep feeding them Gypsum and Potassium Sulfate to keep them BS-free during winter - until our next spring. many thanks :-) I won't give any Nitrogen either, seeing that they stop blooming anyway during winter. Carol, maybe you can try wrapping just a tiny piece of any citrus fruit peel around the area where the aphids are worst? I did that over here and the aphids jumped of like flies... but the Hydrogen Peroxide sounds like a great treatment for the aphids plus it adds oxygen, I think that is the best solution, as advised by Strawberry Hill...I will also try that...I think clay can do with some oxygen.... thanks for liking the Nguni cows, yes they are so beautiful...and quite docile... we have another breed here called 'Afrikaner'-cattle...they are quite strong as well but not so docile...used in the beef industry. They are also much bigger than Nguni's. I hope you enjoy your snowy winter wonderlands, I hope you, Jim, and Strawberry Hill will post winter photo's. Today it is 96.8 F and a strong warm berg (mountain)- wind is blowing. really magical. I decided to look up the definition of a berg wind: Berg wind (from Afrikaans berg "mountain" + wind "wind", i.e. a mountain wind) is the South African name for a katabatic wind: a hot dry wind blowing down the Great Escarpment from the high central plateau to the coast. Well, from personal experience, and for future reference of anyone who needs to know, Sago Palms, which are not actually palms, can also have poisonous-to-dogs walnut-sized seeds that drop. (Is it Sago females or males that drop the seeds? I don't know). But our dog chewed on some at a friend's house, and almost died from it. She was hospitalized with what they estimated was a slim chance of recovery. She did recover, after a harrowing and expensive treatment, but I never fail to mention to dog owners the danger of these plants. I wouldn't plant one where a dog or dogs have access to them. My 2 cents.

I loved and miss my old split-level! Spent many hours dreaming and drawing improvements. But I'd never consider a dining room where it is in your plan. Like Littlebug says, it's in the middle and in the way. In my house, it would always have stuff on it. Looking at it from the opposite viewpoint, the dining room doesn't seem like a relaxing place to enjoy a meal. It seems to have action swirling around it, so when you're dining you've also got your eye on the front door (rushing you out the door?) and it's probably even encroaching on the foyer, or seeing the master closet (makes me think of laundry to do or things to get dressed/ready for or, for guests, someone's private space), and just the feel of people going back and forth. It's like the dining table placed in a hall. But also, your front door points at your closet. A small change would be to move the front door all the way to the left, so that there is a natural walkway from front door to the stairs. The space to the right of the front door could be incorporated into a dining space. Move the master bedroom door, probably reconfigure the master suite anyway a bit, since right now if you need to go from the kitchen to the bathroom, you have to close the bedroom door first. Which side of the house faces the street? In that type of split, I have seen them with different sides facing the street, regardless of where the front door is.

1) I'm Single, but My Best Friend (Male) lives with me.
2) I have a 31 year old gorgeous Daughter (HS Math Teacher)and a 27 year old handsome Son (Blackbelt, 6'2" A 200#'s).
3) I have a 3 year old GD and 6 year old GS.
4) I raised my Niece and Nephew.
5) I have 3 loveable dogs.
