My son died the same day Elvis died so every year we get reminded of that day.

Mary, I am so, so sorry for your loss. I truly think losing a child of any age is the saddest thing that can happen to anyone. My son just turned 46 and I love him the same as the day he was born, maybe more.

My sister died at age 51 and I think of her every day, but most especially on her birthday.

My daughter died on Memorial Day, 2001, and her birthday is the day after Christmas. I recently read, You don't get over it. You get on with it. That pretty much sums it up. Seven months isn't very long, Mary. You have my sympathy.

My heart goes out to you. I lost my son on May 5, 2006. He was 40. I agree with what alisande read: "You don't get over it. You get on with it." How true and sad. Hugs!

I admit I read more than I post but this thread really moved me and my heart goes out to you Mary and to anyone that has lost a child...I can only imagine. It's unbearable to even think it let alone have it happen.

I so admire those that try each day to get on with it as alisande stated cuz your loved ones wouldn't want you to do anything but that.

Mary, I know your pain. I too have lost a daughter. She, like your lovely daughter was 45 when she passed nearly 6 years ago. I promise you, it does get easier to get through most days, but there will always be milestones and sudden reminders that will bring back the pain but you will learn to get on with life, as she would want you to.

To those of you who are mourning so deeply that which the rest of us can't fathom, I sent my deepest sympathy. It's hard to even let my mind imagine what that must be like though a little bit of fear will always be with me, especially when my kids travel.

"Life, with its sorrows; life, with its tears."

I can't know your loss, and can only send my sympathy. I do know that my heart sometimes rises into my throat when I see my son -- with love for the little boy he was and for the good man he is...and a little fear, *because* he is so dear to me.

I do understand your sorrow and your pain and I am sending you hugs and my deepest sympathy. Losing a child leaves a big hole in your heart, no matter what age they may be. My lovely, talented daughter died of cancer in 2001 shortly before her 40th birthday and there isn't a day that goes by that I don't miss her!

Thanks everyone. She was my first born & the bond was always very strong. I do know she is in a better place & all her demons have been laid to rest. Time does heal the broken heart.

God bless Liz and her family left behind. Love never ever dies, it's in your heart for her until the day you die. That's one part of her that no one can take away from you. May thinking about her warm your heart. No words can help, a parents loss is a solitary journey. I wish you never had to take that journey. May your heart feel peace knowing she is not in pain or illness.
