Well you are quite an optimist to think a verdict will be reached at all! I predict a week of struggling and a hung jury.

I am in complete agreement. I have been saying all along, the attorneys for her have been trying to get a dismissal, and if all else fails a hung jury. Never once did I think they were going for an innocent verdict.

I think it'll be someday tomorrow with a guilty of second degree murder. They deliberated 6 hours today.

Tomorrow or Wed, if it's a conviction.

If not, I predict they'll deliberate for about 2-3 weeks, with an Allen charge from the judge around the beginning of next week, but will end up hung.

Hoping, of course, for a guilty verdict. If it's guilty, I don't see how anyone could come in with less than 1st degree.

DH and DD, however are saying 5-6 days deliberation for what it's worth.

I watched several hours of the Defense's closing statements. Wow! I really think they will come in with a guilty verdict but not first degree murder because the cause of death is unknown. 2nd degree murder is more likely due to the fact that even if she did drown, there was a coverup and all the lies she told the police. I think it will be by Wed of this week. I don't think it will go on much longer than that.

I've been following this case and I am curious as to how the defense team is being paid.Are Casey's parents paying? It must be in the millions by this time.Could he be pro bono? I've never heard any mention of this anywhere.

I believe they are court-appointed.

They have stated that Casey is 'indigent'. I'm not sure Jose Baez is court-appointed. I could be wrong, but it seems to me that he jumped out of the woodwork at the beginning, wanting to take this case--but he's only being paid what the state will pay. And the experts testifying for Casey are getting just the court-approved fees, not the huge amounts they would normally collect on a 'private pay' case--at least that's what I heard (I've been watching on Florida TV stations on the internet, and they do have some different info than we're getting on the broadcast stations)

yea..they probably took the case pro-bono or court appointed knowing full well they will make a fortune on the book & movie rights

They are not pro bono. Baez got some money from the sale of Caylees pictures to ABC. The rest is taken care of by the state.

Verdict by tomorrow, 1st degree, Friday at the very latest.

Casey used the $200K on picture and video fees to pay Baez. When that ran out, the state kicked in, but that money is only used for his hired experts and investigations. His work now is pro bono. She contacted him initially because she heard his name mentioned by other inmates. There is speculation on the web that it isn't true and she knew him before all of this started. BTW if you look at her jail call videos-her family tried to persuade her to get another lawyer. They didn't like him from the start.

I read tonight that the judge will give everyone 30 minutes to get to court once a verdict is reached.

Her lawyers are courtesy of the Florida taxpayers--that would be me, for one. Ick!

One reason I think the jury will decide quickly is because they've been sequestered since May 2? They are 90 miles from home and it's been a long time sitting in that court room. I really feel for them. Even their TV viewing is monitored so they don't happen to see anything to do with the trial. I notice the judge goes out of his way to take their feelings into consideration.

It is indeed the Florida taxpayers who are footing the bill.

Nobody is doing this for free. Why would they?

I HOPE they come in with a verdict today. Guilty in some degree. She had something to do with the death of this little girl, and should spend the rest of her days to "party on" behind bars. I really liked the Judge, he was really a no-nonsense guy and I respected that. Guess I'm ready for this to be over after three years of hearing about it. I wonder what Nancy Grace will latch on to harp on next.

I have a feeling it will be a quick decision because the jury had to sit through such a long trial and had 6 weeks to absorb the evidence/defense presented. I think they'll announce a verdict tomorrow, but no one really knows what the jury is thinking.

IMHO, there's no way she wasn't involved in that child's death. After watching the trial nearly every day, the Prosecutors convinced me of her guilt.

I feel very sorry for her parents. They've already lost so much and they stand to lose even more.

Guilty by Wednesday. This jury will not decide her sentence.

I feel a little sympathy for the parents, but not much.

I do feel sorry for the jurors and for the residents of FL who have to foot the bill for this because Casey is a troubled person, a liar, and does not have the moral backbone to stand up and admit what happened to her child.

Yes, the judge has done a good job. He's calm and seems fair. How I'd love to know what he's thinking!

I think Thursday and I just hope there's not one hold out who will make this a hung jury. If 11 were for acquittal and I was there , I know I'd hold out and would not be persuaded. Casey killed her with premeditation. One piece of tape would keep her quiet under the chloroform,one over her nose and another for good measure were to KILL her. It was not an accident. Casey is a sociopath and her parents are not exemplary members of society. Cindy needs to be prosecuted for perjury. I don't think she'll get the death penalty though.
