My stupid ulcer is back.....

Went to the er Monday morning after a long night of being very sick (won't go into details on that) But I knew it would be my ulcer again...yep it is! So I get to go Friday and get a Upper GI done....oh boy! My doc is so funny she said so what you have going on Friday and I said sounds like i have date with you ....she said yep you do....so will let you all know whats up when that is over....Just getting on Nexxium has helped so much....Stacy

That's too bad. I've never had an ulcer, but my brother did and it was no fun.

Feel very bad for you Melissa. Such an overwhelming, frustrated feeling. We have not had that plant in the yard, thankfully, but we did have a perennial weed grass that gave us a run for our money. Finally the only thing that got rid of it was smothering the whole entire area with cardboard and bark mulch for a whole season. I was so glad to get rid of that. Doesn't sound like you will have to be that drastic. Don't let it get to you. A four to five foot area isn't too bad yet. As long as you prevent any of them that bloom from going to seed, then you can take your time and get them out I would think. Just keep pulling and chipping away at them whenever you see them and pop the flowers off every time you see one and it will get under control before you know it. Enjoy your garden this year and don't let it ruin the growng season for you. :-) pm2

LOL .. ya Bonnie he will show up .. he is that stupid :o) He isnt looking at a few months in custody he is looking at maybe 5 - 7 years + +. I have yet to hear for the fool .. but its only a matter of time cuz he doesnt even have any clean underwear .. yuck. I got my new kid on the 5th. So far he isnt any problem at all. But he isnt in school yet so the expectations are pretty minimal. Tomorrow I am going to start tightening the screws :o) We are going to go the Humane Society in the morning (7:30 am) to volunteer. He needs to be doing something so why not work on his 40 community hours that he will need to graduate. I would have to say that the other foster parents in our program are a bit jelouse as my kids are hand picked just for me :o) My old social worker deals with all of the kids in the group homes so she knows me well and what type of kid would do well here. It works out great for me as they are usually an excellent fit so we have little issues :o) This kid is pretty explosive (so they tell me) but I have yet to see any behaviours .. you have to love the honeymoon period :o) He really likes all of the animals in our home which is a plus as the pets tend to defuse alot of the emotions a kid feels. Hi nolongernewyork, I developed fibromyalgia just as I was starting perimenopause. It makes me wonder if the two are VERY interconnected. I'm 57 and haven't had a period in 3 years, but have TONS of muscle and joint aches. I had horrible GERD and IBS during perimenopause, but fortunately, it has calmed down. One thing I learned was that people who are treated for h. pylori, actually can develop alot of heartburn after the treatment. I think there's something about having that infection that keeps you from having heartburn. I'm also learning that our GI tracts are extremely important to our well being. Do a search on healing your GI tract naturally, and you'll learn lots about it. Make a food diary and see if you have developed some intolerances to certain foods. I know I can't eat much dairy anymore. Try to cut down on your carbs and especially sugar. I've heard one theory that GERD is caused by a diet of too many carbs. When we eat more than we can digest, it ferments and leads to GERD. And caffeine can make alot of your pain and GI problems worse. I think its a good thing to look up treatment for fibromyalgia, because perimenopause can have symptoms just like it. Gosh......your plate is sooooooo full!! NHB: The nerve of that woman. I cannot believe it! My kids have done a few garage sales too and it's amazing how many people like to take advantage of kids. I had people trying to make all kinds of deals with my kids and I finally had to tell a few people that they had priced things to sell (like 25 cents or $1 per item). It's why I mostly donate stuff to charity or resell myself on CL. Yesterday, I had arranged for a charity to pick up some stuff on my curb. They said to put out at 7AM with a tag on it which I did and by the time they arrived, my stuff was all taken. DH said probably they needed it, but still I felt like the stuff was stolen as it was not put out with a "free" sign on it, but a tag for a cancer charity and I felt just terrible when the truck arrived and my stuff was all gone. :( Stinkers!

No they are no fun..but I will make it! At least this time I knew the symptoms and went in right away so didn't need blood.....Last time i didn't have a clue and got 2 units.....Stacy

I had a bleeding ulcer. I tested positive for H pylori, the doctor put me on antibiotics for 14 days and that cleared up the ulcer. Have you been tested for H pylori.

I suffered for years with my ulcer

I have had a serious acid problem for the last 15 years and take something healing when it gets really bad. When I have the scope tests they just tell me it's a little pink, but no ulcers.

DS had ulcers at oh shoot 15 or 16. He was one sick puppy. We couldn't figure it out. He'd have pain and throwing up and said his stomach felt "bubbling"...wouldn't eat, eventually it would go away for a few hours, he'd eat and back in bed with everything all over again.
It is tradition in DH's family to have stomach problems! LOL Everyone does. DS was paying $75 after his insurance paid for Nexium. They finally told him try Prilosec and that works just as good for him. His ulcers are gone now but he still has heart burn from he!!, Prilosec helps that.

I feel for you Stacy! Ulcers suck!

No I haven't ever had that test what is it? How do they do that one? I am going to write it down and ask my doc. on friday before she knocks me out! Mine are also the bleeding kind....Brian has them but they are not the bleeding kind...Stacy

Ask your doctor about using antibiotics to clear up ulcers. As enjoyingspring says, H. pylori can be cured. I remember reading about this in the paper about 8 years ago when they discovered this. They need to test for which antibiotics clear up your case, and then you need to take two courses of two different antibiotics. The use of two different antibiotics, one after the other, to get rid of ulcers was new information from a study.

Wow noda what you describe is exactly how I feel....since my last bout with this about 5 or 6 years ago....I have been fine....I have had trouble for the last year on and off...but started the vomiting old blood and clots and KNEW I have to get to the doc..... (sorry probably to much info there)...Yep I can't eat and bubbly is a good way to describe how my tummy is besides when I get like the sharpe burning shooting pain in the middle of my chest....like heartburn....I hate this but know it will get better...I have been using the prilosec on and off for the last year....probably should have been better at taking it...but I wasn't....Anyways thanks all for the kind thoughts....and i will keep you all posted...
I will ask my doc about that on Friday....Stacy
