Round Steak has to be cooked long and slow, moist. I don't know if they can be "fixed" at this point, but someone else will. Your steak sandwiches idea sounds good.

Maybe put them in a pressure cooker for a bit. Yes, they should be cooked rather long and slow.

Thin slices might maker it easier to chew and not seem so tough.

i'd put them in the oven, cover with either cream of mushroom or tomato soup and slow cook, covered...(raw, i do mine at 350 for at least couple of hours) but since it's precooked, i'd do 325 for at least 2 hours...same for sliced...

round steak is my favorite beef...i've made chicken fried steak from it but that's after pounding it with a meat hammer..sadly tho' they don't cut it as thin as they used to...most are around an inch or 2 thick anymore...

Be sure to cut the meat on the diagonal. It will be more tender that way.

1. Sprinkle with some meat tenderizer or better yet,

2. Give it to the dog and go out to eat tomorrow night. LOL

Cook round steak slowly and with some liquid to make them tender. I think I would cube the meat and turn it into stew, cooking it for 2 1/2 to 3 hours.

Make soup!

First off, I think you probably confused your cuts of meat... Your recipe is better for cubed steaks. Round steaks need to be cooked long and slow as others have mentioned.

At this point, I would treat them as if they haven't really been cooked. I'd probably try cutting them up and throwing them in a crock pot with some beef broth, onions, carrots, etc... or maybe a canned soup and cooking all day in the crock pot.

My mom used to make the best stove top round steak but you kind of need to sear them in the pan to make the gravy and you've already done that so that wouldn't work now... but next time, just try cooking long and low on the stove top with some water, (first sear them -then add the water and scrape up the seared bits -- add some easy spices (salt, pepper, onion, couple carrots--whatever you happen to have on hand) and cook all afternoon. Serve the meat with the thin gravy over bread or noodles.

I'll throw them in the slow cooker with come condensed soup. Low and slow. Thanks for all the help!

Personally, I feel it's the fault of the store that you had an inedible dinner. They should NEVER have sold round as steaks. It's just not a good cut to make into a steak since it's from a much-used muscle--meaning it will be tough.

I'd dice the meat pretty small, saute up some onions and peppers in a saucepan, add the meat, some grated carrots and some bottled BBQ sauce and simmer until they're tender--adding a bit of water from time to time as needed. Then serve over some nice snowflake rolls, with a bit of cheddar sprinkled over the top, if desired. Or you could make goulash

round steak is one of my choices for when I make my tomato gravy, it is cooked low and slow and can be done in the crock pot. Definitely a cut of meat that needs time to cook.

I agree with throwing it in a crock pot as part of a stew or a soup at this point.

It's in the crock pot now,cut up the cooked meat, with water, onion soup and cream of mushroom soup. giving it ten hours. I lifted the lid once to check it and it smells great. My mother used to make wonderful pot roast on Sundays, but she used tomato. I'll be serving over noodles and with carrots. DH helped me with this, his mother taught him everything she knew about cooking.

Chicken Fried Steak and Pan Fried Steak are made with round steak and definitely not cooked for hours to make it tender. You do, however, pound your steak with a tenderizer mallet, bread it and fry it quickly in oil. The better cuts of round steak are sliced about 1/2 inch thick and pounded out to tenderize. I have a metal tenderizer and also a wooden one that came with my wood utensil set. You can also find round steak which has been run through a tenderizer at the meat market but, it's not as tender as I like it.
