Congratulations! I did something like that. I do checks online and apparently I pressed "enter" twice when paying my home equity loan. I got a letter in the mail saying I could skip July's payment and my next check is due in August. Hooray! I have to pay my daughter's tuition july 15. It sure does help to make a mistake once in a while.

Good for you!! Don't you just love those kind of surprizes? Now you can even have a better vacation than you had planned. Hooray!!!

My DS said he was puzzled when he got his electricity bill...its always $45-$50, a small enough amount. When he got the bill in the amount owed column it has $0.00! He looked at the bottom portion and saw $49 credit cause he'd paid it twice! He said don't ask me how I did it but I did.

It's a poor wind that doesn't blow some good, on occasion, mush.

I paid my furnace fuel bill twice, a few months ago ... so will get most of my next delivery at little or no cost ...

... but the tank is about 3/8 full now, so it'll be a while before I collect the fuel.

No matter what the invoice says check your bank statement to make SURE that you DID double pay and it was not a mistake on THEIR part. If they made a mistake by double entering an amount you would still owe it. Since this is taxes we are talking about they won't just "write it off" out of goodwill like a business would for "good customer relations". PLUS they would charge you interest and and penalty.

I hope this is a happy story and you really did make a mistake and paid them twice, and not that they made a 'computer error' and double entered a payment which will be rectified eventually.

I checked my CC account the other day and saw that there were 2 payments posted to my account,one on the 24th of June,and one the next day on the 25th.

I knew i hadn't done so,so checked my checking account and only one had been taken out.

So i called the cc company to see what was going on,she said yes,it looks like you paid one on line,and the other you physically went into the bank and paid it.Crazy,because as i told her i have NEVER gone into the bank to pay it.So she said she'd have to track it down,mind you i have a very common name(unfortunately),so for a few days some other Kathleen D-had money taken from her account and posted to mine.Funny thing was it was the exact same amount as i did pay!!

I checked my account this A.M. and they have fixed my account.But i wish someone would pay it for me.LOL
