What's for dinner Wednesday?

We were going to fire up the grill but it's right in the afternoon sun and way too hot for it, so we're having Raven's potato-sausage dish. We were going to have it last night, but I forgot we needed to eat the rest of the sub from Monday night. Just as well since I can zap it in the microwave and make a salad. Sure is too hot for the oven, and I hate to make the AC work any harder than it already is!

Neighbor and I tried out a new bbq place: Rib King's

3 ribs, mine with sauce on the side
3 cheese macaroni
smoked corn on the cob

friend had
3 ribs with sauce
3 cheese macaroni
green beans

OK, but I won't go back.

I had a bunch of leftover cooked rice from the other nite, and wasn't sure what to do with it. I cooked up some wild rice and made another rice salad. Had that and hotdogs. Hot, here too. 33C with the humidex it fees like 44C

Raven, I finally remembered to pick up some asparagus! I'll have it tomorrow with something. Ellendi, tonight I just cooked it in a very basic way. I like having cold leftovers to put on a salad, in my green sludgies, soups, etc. One cup quinoa, rinsed and drained twice. Use a mesh strainer. Add one and a half cups water or broth to the pot with the quinoa, bring to a boil with the lid on....then turn heat down to simmer for ten minutes or so. Let sit for five minutes with the lid on after the heat is off. I also add it raw to any rice or mixed grains that I'm cooking. I even add it when I'm making pea or lentil soup! Always rinse it....it has a bitter taste otherwise.

Warmer here today - around 86. Because of all the rain over the last couple of days, it was very humid. I was so glad to see the sun! Our summer has been cooler than normal. I don't remember a 100 degree day so far. It was cooler than normal last year too. We went out for Mexican tonight. Had a delicious carne asada.

Walnutcreek (so good to see you again!) and Shirley, sometimes microwaved dinners are just the thing! OF, I enjoy raking leaves and shovelling snow. Hubby had ice cream for dessert, but that doesn't interest me at this time of year. I'm glad to see you eating a sandwich of sorts, instead of your usual Coke, Deeby :-) I'm planning on having a stir-fry this week Rhizo. Thanks for the reminder. Angela, your post made me laugh! I saw the most beautiful, big green peppers at the store yesterday and they ended up in my shopping cart. So, tonight I stuffed them with a spicy, cheesy, tomatoey, ricey mixture and baked them with some chicken thighs.

We're just having some grilled steaks (grilled inside since it's too hot outside), potato salad, corn on the cob and a tossed salad. Watermelon for dessert.

As usual, a lot of good sounding foods being posted.

I made a salad and topped it with chicken strips and a hard boiled egg. Also had a cup of lima (butter) beans.

We had the same thing for supper as we had for our noon meal. I forgot to add corn on the cob to my other menu. The kids were here for lunch time and supper time. A tiring day for sure.
