No help on macaroni salad, but in my husband's family sloppy joes must be accompanied by coleslaw which is placed on top of the sloppy joe.

I made this one and it was very good. I like a hint of sweet in mine so I added a pinch of sugar to the dressing mix.

I'm not a lover of sweets my pasta salad, and this is my favorite.

Bacon and Egg Macaroni Salad

1 pound elbow macaroni
8 hard-boiled eggs, chopped
1/2 pound bacon, cooked and crumbled
1 cup chopped celery
1/2 cup finely chopped red onion
2 cups mayonnaise
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon black pepper

1.In a large pot of boiling water, cook macaroni over high heat 7 to 9 minutes, or just until tender. Drain, rinse, and let cool.
2.Place macaroni in a large bowl, add remaining ingredients, and mix well. Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour before serving.

I have made this.. Very easy...Sounds like it might be too sweet but it really is not. You can adjust the amount of mayo.

Macaroni Salad
16 oz. cooked macaroni
2 cups mayonnaise
1/4 cup vinegar
1/4 cup sugar
1 can sweetened condensed milk
3 grated carrots
1 chopped onion
1 green pepper chopped.

Mix the mayo ,vinegar ,sugar and sweetened condensed milk together. Pour over macaroni. Stir to mix well. Fold in carrots, onion, and green pepper. Refrigerate 4 hours before serving.

I really like this one.

Macaroni and Cheese Salad (Marilyn Sue)

1 (7 1/4 oz.) pkg. macaroni and cheese
10 oz. pkg. frozen peas
1 half cup pickle relish
3/4 c. mayonnaise or Miracle Whip
1/2 c. sliced celery
1/2 c. chopped onion
1/2 tsp. salt
6 hard-cooked eggs, chopped (less may be used)
Prepare mix according to directions on package. Add frozen peas. Stir and add rest of ingredients. Chopped green pepper may be added, if desired. Chill before serving.

Macaroni Dandy Salad

8 Oz. (2 C) elbow macaroni
1T. Lemon juice
1 tsp. sugar
1/2 C. mayo
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp celery seed
1 C. celery diced
1 tomato, diced
3 T. green pepper, chopped

Cook macaroni according to directions. Drain and rinse. Add veggies. Combine mayo, lemon juice, salt, sugar and 1/4 tsp celery seed. Toss with macaroni and veggie.

I've been making this one for many years. I double the recipe.

Here is mine which is requested for many occasions.

Sour Cream Macaroni Salad

I have absolutely no recollection of where this recipe came from. I just know I have made it for years and years and get requests to bring it to gatherings.

1 8-oz package elbow macaroni (2 cups uncooked)
1/2 - 1 cup diced green pepper
1/4 - 1/2 cup sweet pickle relish
1 T grated onion
2 -3 red pimentos

1/2 cup mayonnaise (I use Miracle Whip for this salad; mayo does not taste right in the salad)
1/2 cup sour cream
1 1/2 t salt
1/4 cup milk
Pepper to taste

2 hard boiled eggs, chopped
Cherry tomatoes (Normally I do not put any tomatoes on the salad)

Cook macaroni for 11-14 minutes or until tender. Rinse with cold water and drain.

In a large bowl combine green pepper, pickle relish, onion, and pimentos; mix well. Add macaroni.

In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, sour cream, milk, salt and pepper and blend well. The dressing will seem thin at first. Pour over macaroni and mix well. Sprinkle chopped eggs on top. Chill for several hours.

Before serving, garnish with whole cherry tomatoes.

Serves 6 - 8

Hope I'm not too late to make a contribution here but my macaroni salad always gets raves. I use shredded carrot, chopped red peppers, and diced olives. Dressing is half mayo and half sour cream with just a tad of dijon mustard. Salt and pepper of course. Yummy.

Do you make the macaroni and cheese and then add the other ingredients? My mouth can't imagine it but it might be good.

I, too, am probably too late but here is a favorite of ours.

MACARONI SALAD

2 c. macaroni, cooked and cooled
2 ripe tomatoes, chopped
1 green onion, chopped
1/2 green pepper, chopped
1/4 c. cucumber, chopped

mix together the following and pour over the above:

1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. oil
1/3 c. ketchup
1/4 c. vinegar
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. paprika

I have also added other veggies like broccoli and peas, slivered carrots, etc . Just depends on who is here and what I have on hand. Chill for a few hours before serving.

Macaroni Salad (2)

2 cups macaroni shells cooked and cooled
mayo to moisten and to your own preference
celery seed
finely chopped red onion
salt and pepper
finely diced celery
can of tuna packed in water, drained and flaked with fork, serve on lettuce leaves and sprinkle
paprika on top

Mix together and chill until serving. I also make the same with bow ties and use a can of flaked ham or chicken.

I'm not Sue_va but I did post that Mac and Cheese Salad recipe and yes you make the mac and cheese like it says to on the box and then add the other ingredients. It is good. I also make another one with cooked pasta, chopped hard cooked eggs, sweet pickle relish, chopped celery, chopped onion, chopped sweet peppers and Miracle Whip and a touch of sugar. Add some yellow mustard to it too. Another version is to have cooked pasta, Miracle Whip some sugar, hard cooked eggs, a bit of onion and some chopped celery, some chopped peeled cucumber and some slivers of cheddar cheese. Mix well and chill.
