My standard grocery store carries both string mops and sponge mops, right there with all the newer stuff. Walmart, Target, Home Depot and Lowe's also carry them.

Mine does too,Mary..they just don't have the rayon or nylon kind.:(

Vileda has something like that. I don't know what's made of, but it has a round part that you put the mop into, in the bucket.

I use a bee-mop sponge mop. I don't use anything like the Swiffer type things.

I used to use string mops and a ringer bucket, but the one thing about it was you had to change the dirty water so often.
Plus the strings, or cords, of the mops would often get caught in my old wood floors.

Yes, at a hardware store you should be able to find them.

We no longer have an ACE Hardware Store. Lowe's doesn't have them, but we do have another home improvement type store..Marvin's! They have the Rayon mop heads..but I have to buy the handle separate! Hope to be able to go get it tomorrow!!!

Look up janitorial supplies in the yellow pages. They should have what you are looking for. Most sell to the public. Not just for businesses.

Check Sam's Club or someplace that sells to businesses. like Smart & final.. Also Menards or even a Farm supply Store.

Try hardware stores, farm stores, and places that sell janitoral supplies.

I'm also trying to find one. I have checked in every hardware store, lowes, walmart etc. I will check out some of the janitoral places, but thinking they will be so huge and heavy for me.

Well..I'm not having much luck finding one local. Still need to go check the one place that said they had them. Only thing, there I'll have to buy the mop head and handle separate! But, if that's what I have to do..so be it!

I loved the Liebman cause they wrang out so well...I use the rope kind...I know exactly what you're talking about...what a great memory...My Mom used the boys old t-shirts!

I hear ya!! There are tons of them available for very good prices but they all have cotton heads, I honestly have never seen one with anything other than a cotton head, the rayon is what seems to make it hard to find and apparently costly.

My cleaning lady uses an industrial size mop and the big yellow wringer caddy on wheels she gets hers at janitor supply stores. I have seen them at costco and sams too but I would bet they are all cotton.

What is special about the rayon?

Those cotton mops are so heavy when wet, too. Didn't they used to be called "rag mops"? But then again, that's exactly what liz_ga's mom used when she put an old t-shirt on the handle - a rag mop. :) I had galvanized steel ringer buckets but now they make plastic ones, too.

When I moved into my house, on the side of the house around the corner from the back door, someone had made a mop holder. It was a piece of wood with about three holes drilled in it and your wet mops were placed in there to dry. Wonder what happened to that? It must have fallen apart and I pitched it.
