Thanks for the links! Our street is clear today, where our creek went over, the road buckled, they have barricades on that part. Parts of Tomball had water still. Spring Creek, by the college is full! We haven't had much today, so far, it rained pretty hard down at Jones and 249 while I was out. Keeping my fingers crossed that the heavy stuff misses us today.

I am trying to keep watch on what Cypress creek is doing. Also Spring creek has gone over the banks and is causing problems in Spring.

You both are in my prayers. Raven, if you are home alone when/if you need to evacuate, can you do so on your own, being in a wheel chair, or will you need help? I pray you can safely get out if needed. Please keep us updated so we don't worry too much about you all!

Luckily I have some great neighbors to help me should I need it and my husband works 4miles from home but that's not a guarantee he can get here quick.

Omg!! Sunshine we see sunshine!! What a wonderful sight! I know some the forecast shows more rain but what a beautiful sight, even just a little bit will help rid us of some of the water.

Sorry to hear about all the flooding. We live on a bayou and it is up a little, but didn't get near the rain as NW Houston. It did rain continually here, but came down slowly. We are sort of on high ground here....or what amounts to high ground for this area, and the bayou is 100' wide, so the water gets out very quickly.

We went for a drive, and the same area we could get through yesterday is now under water, if we get more rain my house will be in serious jeopardy. The creek still has not crested.
The sun is out and helps but the forecast is still more rain. I sure hope it doesn't happen soon.

Wow, what a small world. I haven't been in here, KT, for a long while. I've often seen you all in here but didn't realized you're actually closer to me.

I live by Willowbrook, 249 & FM 1960. We did get some heavy rain but fortunately, no flooded streets. Then again, I wasn't out of the house to see the surroundings.

We needed the rain but oh boy, not that much in such a short time. I'm glad to know that your homes weren't flooded. Currently, the sun is out and no rain so far today.

I've always come back to KTs because you all are so nice & sweet. Would it be a good idea for all the KTs in Houston to meet? Or at least those that live in this neck of the wood?

I am game for it, but I don't drive very far I tend to stick to the Spring, Champions,Woodlands, Willowbrook areas.

I am up for it, heck, Zbrat and I are doing a get together in the Caymans in October! Lol Of course, I think we will see each other a few times before that!

Oh now that is one place I have always wanted to go to.
Well once the weather settles down we will plan on it, weekend is better so my husband can drive lol.

I'm glad the flooding hasn't hit you Houston-area KTers too bad. Where were y'all for a meet-up when I lived in the Woodlands? (We moved to central FL 9 mos.ago.) I've got 2 sons still in the "Houston area" And another one used to live in Cypress before moving to CO 18 mos. ago. DDIL has mucho family in Cypress, and they got hit bad with flooding there, from what I'm hearing in the news, but not any of her relatives.

Sounds like a plan. Ravencajun, how about you make the plan, when and where and let us know. I'm not working so I can meet anytime but the weather must cooperate. I'm in a wheelchair, being out in the rain is not good for me.

Keep me informed about your get together. I am a three day drive from Houston and have met with Zbrat, Terilyn, Happygoluckygale and MarilynC. Am always up for a trip as these girls can attest to. If you gals can wait until Sept it would be better for me with my rash. I am allergic to heat, humidity and sunshine so the Fall is better for me.

Well guess what is happening right this very moment big big rain drops hitting the skylight above my head and it is going to be another downpour the sky has just opened up. big thunderboomers too.
At least yesterday we had a little bit of a break and my yard water did go down some, but Cypress creek behind us came up even higher yesterday many of the areas we tried to drive to were flooded, much too close for comfort!
These 2 fronts are hung right over us and the area that is between the fronts is what is causing this mess, there is some kind of circular rotation happening causing it. And until something strong comes through and breaks that darn cycle we are trapped under it. That happens often when the moisture off the Gulf hits a front from the West and bam we get the resultant collision.

And to make matters worse we did not get to the grocery store yesterday! Good thing my pantry has lots of beans and soup mix in it.

The sun is back now. Earlier today, I had to meet with my cousins, visiting from Canada, and friends & family down in Bellaire area. On the way there, it was pouring hard. There were times that we couldn't see much ahead of us. We had emergency lights flashing as we moved forward slowly. Most drivers followed this technique and we got there safely. When we arrived to the restaurant on Bellaire, the rain had stopped. After lunch, the sky cleared out and the heat was back... yuk!

Yes and the sun was a great sight. I know man it was really raining hard and fast during that time, glad you made it safely.

We have the opposite problem; We've entered a severe drought condition. We sure could use some of that rain. Small creeks and streans have stopped flowing; A few wells are going dry. Outside of town, a well that had served St. James Parish for 100 years began pumping sand last week and failed. If they let the sell rest for awhile, it will produce some water, but not enough.

Lawns are brown and trees are stressed. The corn crop is hurting. Soy bean harvest is projected downward. Drought related increase of 3.5% in food prices has been projected for next year.

Wow, wells pumping sand instead of water. I haven't heard that before. Hang on Jemdandy!

We had drought last year. Spring came and the rain wasn't as usual, a few drops here and there. Seriously, I thought we'd have another dry summer. The rain was a welcome when it came. But it came too much in such a short time. We've been having downpour everday for the past 5-6 days. At least we're having a break in between.

And now (3:47 pm), it's thundering again. Rain is not too hard but steady.

Yep it is pouring here again right now, was hoping it was over. At least the creeks had a chance to go down some in the past 2 days of lighter rains.

Yes we have been in a severe drought here in this area for I think they said 10 years with last year being one of the worst ever. We thought we would lose every thing last year. And we did lose some of our big beautiful trees unfortunately. The rain was a wonderful thing this year and still is needed to replenish the diminished supplies but we really did not want it all at one time.
I have green grass again though and after last summer I really thought it was all dead so that is nice to see. And the plants are growing like crazy.
Strange weather patterns this summer so far, it just flipped from last summer.
