....if you would hold still and keep it down for a minute, she's been working at this for days! It's really hard for her to sit this quietly and be still when you all know she's such a party animal. She thought it would be fun to get to know her feathered friends a little better and a little more "up close and personal" so she took her favorite margarita glass and put a little colored nectar in it to attract them to her and then she sat. And sat. And sat somemore. FINALLY they got curious enough to come in and check her out, but they were more interested in her visor and her flip flops than the nectar in her glass.

All that sitting around was just killing her back so I guess after she went inside she decided on a little medicinal pick me up. Or a put me down, in her case! I found her passed out in the liquor portion of the pantry. What a floozy. She hasn't changed one little bit, has she?

She really has a fondness for Disaronno Amaretto. And for you guys, too! Thanks for asking about her, Bump!

1. The first thing you are doing wrong is installing a new lawn in the spring. 2. Expecting a spring lawn to do well all through the summer. 3. Watering incorrectly. 4. Fertilizing incorrectly. 5. Bonus thing you're likely doing wrong is mis reading California geography about where you live. I realize that is a bold statement but it is based on reading 4 lawn forums for 10 years. 95% of people claiming to live in northern California live in the Bay Area or Sacramento. If you live in Sacramento you really are watering wrong. If you really do live north of Redding, then I apologize and some of what I'm about to say does not apply. Let's skip down to #3. Once a lawn is established (and yours is NOT), then watering should be done once per week but apply a full inch at a time. You are barely moistening the base of the plant with your approach. At this point you must keep your grass alive for the rest of the summer. Start by measuring the output of your sprinkler. Put some cat food or tuna cans our on the lawn and turn on the sprinklers. Time how long it takes to fill the cans. That is one inch of water. Let's say it takes an hour to fill all the cans and you are currently watering Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Start watering twice as long as you are now on Monday and Saturday. Water the regular amount on Wednesday and Thursday. When the summer heat breaks, start backing off on the frequency. Skip Wednesday and water on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday. Continue with the double time watering on Mon and Sat. When the temps are in the lower 80s during the day, drop to 2x per week. When the temps drop to the 70s, you should be able to fall back to 1x per week but go to the full inch (hour?). Actually by the time your temps get down to the 70s, you should be watering once every 3 weeks. #4 If you are using chemical fertilizers, fertilize 3x per year. Do it once in late spring (Memorial Day) once in early fall (Labor Day), and once in late fall (Thanksgiving). If you are using organic fertilizers, you can do that any day of the year with no fear of burning the lawn. If you feel the need to use preemergent in the spring, get one that is not mixed with fertilizer. The grass does not need fertilizer that early in the spring. Hint: with KBG you should not need a preemergent herbicide. KBG is too dense to allow weeds in.

For succulents that have been given a lot of light/harsher conditions outside and then brought inside suddenly, they can suffer from etoliation rather quickly. The cooler temperatures are very favourable, so the plants start growing, but under low light conditions they can become etoliated within just a week. There is not much to be done about it sadly and I'm not really sure if it's that preventable without very good indoor lighting (window or artificial). You can try repotting later to get it to grow straighter, but it only helps so much. My succulents are on a (fairly hot and exposed) rooftop and it took some creativity and time to get my plants adjusted to the sun - from wooden boards, to corrugated plastic, to clear diffuser panels, clay saucers, bricks, and white mesh fabric. I'm not sure if doing the same gradual increase in light/heat exposure will help your plants, but it did for me. Your shade sails look quite nice - must be comfortable under there!

The color scheme on the house looks good as is. I wouldn't necessarily be in a rush to change it. But I am wondering if you have a filter applied to the photo you took. The grass looks like it is a very unnatural looking green that does not exist in the real world. But assuming the colors presented are accurate, my first reaction was a dark brick red might work well to replace the existing green trim on the house. Oh my gosh!!! THERE she is! She still looks wonderful, considering the wild lifestyle she lived for awhile!! Does she still speak German? I know she was over there for so long, she almost forgot how to speak English!!! LMAO!

OH MY GOSH!! She has not gone to rehab yet? I thought for sure by now it would have been court ordered by Officer Mike? What is the deal the lush! She needs to come see me now that I travel and do fun things....LOL she would have a blast crabbing, going to the beach....and hanging out at my sisters pool and hot tub.....ahhhh her life...is her adventures still on the web and if so does anyone have link? Glad she hit the liquor after the birdfeeding and not before. That's a long way down from the railing! Yikes!

It is sooooo good to see Nectarine again. I had the pleasure of having her at our house when she came to visit Liz GA. She hasn't aged a bit, but I see she also hasn't changed her ways. LOL

Well well well...look who decided to come to the party?? I just about dropped my teeth (my upper plate with the diamond stud) when I saw your pictures!! Wowie girl, you are looking mighty good. And I love that you wanted to share your strawberry margarita (or is it a cherry margarita?) with your friend there. From the looks of it that little hummer had already had a bit too much to drink, the way he's (I'm sure it's a HE) flying and zooming around...slow down boy and relax!

From the looks of it Nectarine is sure to remember one word of German "JAGERMEISTER!!"

In my experience, AR gals are just a lot of fun to have around. Nectarine can visit me anytime -- although, she probably wouldn't be crazy about a WI winter (my AR niece isn't. LOL).

Nectarine is back! I love Nectarine! She is welcome to come visit us any time, and we will show her a great time, on the beach with amaretto, in Carmel with a Cosmo, on our deck with mineral water, whatever her golden heart desires. And we will be happy to introduce her to our big teddy bear, who is dressed in his Army Captain uniform these days.

Wow!! What an amazing story and what a fantastic idea you gals all had many years ago. Flamey to think that you created Nectarine and started the whole mascot thing going!

She obviously holds to her reputation....quite a ball of fire!!!
She would be welcome at any party, and that would be a blast taking her with you everywhere you went.

Imagine getting arrested!! That is just Toooo funny!

I think it was Stacy who introduced her to liquor.....she couldn't get up her driveway for some reason and left Necci and a six-pack in the car. Well, that was the beginning of Necci's thirst! Forgive me, Stacy, if I have the wrong person.

Thanks, Patti- I think I'm more fun now since I don't have to watch my back all the time, I had 2 older brothers and was black and blue 'til I learned how to fight back! lol Boys. You just can't shoot 'em.

Necci has toned it down some, she's better behaved these days, believe it or not. She likes company, though, because it usually means a new outfit. This old skirt she has on has been around the block, she wore it in Iowa. Her KT t-shirt went missing sometime after that, she probably left it in a bar somewhere, so I had to make her a replacement.

And yeah, I think Stacy was the beginning of the little lush's slide downhill!

Nope, same old boobs, same gray in her hair, that was there from the beginning.

I just found my notes on her and she was actually gone for 4 years, 1 month and 11 days on her journey. Phew. Here she is before she left here for the first time. Gosh, this seems like a 100 years ago, doesn't it?
