Music on this Website

Below is a link to the question on posted on another Gardenweb forum. This music is driving me crazy - it is repetitious. I am hoping someone can help. This just started this weekend.

I have run Anti Spyware Blaster and MalWare Bytes. The music has not stopped.

I have gone to other websites and do not get the music on those sites. Just Gardenweb. I am running AntiSpywareBlaster again.

I believe the music comes from an ad on the page and has nothing to do with any kind of spyware or malware.

For whatever browser you're using, try adding an ad blocker. Google should help you find your way. If you don't like banning the ads, you can always disable it. Many people do use such add-on tools that keep website advertisement fields blank.

Snidely, I also has the music (once yesterday) and I use FF and AdBlock Plus. It is NOT an ad.

I can usually find music to listen to when googling by song title or if I just feel like listening to whatever is playing, I visit the website of my favorite radio station. Be careful, I got bombarded by a trojan from Lyrics.com a couple of years ago. My AVG caught it, but it was there. Pam

much will depend on the type of player they will be using, you will need to use a file extension format that their player will play. so you need to know that, will it play .wav will it play mp3 etc. Once you know that then you know which type of format you need to save the songs in so that they can play them. Also some players only like certain types of cd, some do not like the re-writable type for example. I had to go through a little trail and error when making them for my Mother. some she could play in her car but not in her older home player. I would not under any cirmcustance use any type of peer to peer sharing site, you will get into dangerous territory there and lots of infections. Stay with safe purchase sites or good known free sites that are legit. You can purchase from walmart.com, amazon.com, rhapsody.com, many legit sites. Walmart MP3 Music Downloads Home that is the mp3 download site at walmart for example. Most sites will let you hear a small sample of the song before buying it so you know it is what you are looking for. On the walmart one just click on the little arrow in front of the song name to hear the sample. Websites like this one have lots of oldies and they have already compiled cd's so you may want to go with one of theirs. Forever Oldies Music this jukebox site is one I listen to often Free Jukebox you can listen to songs here then search for them to purchase. the site I am listing at the bottom is an archive where they have lots of oldies which you can actually download for free from the site in mp3 format. the directions are on the page, you click on the download button for the group of songs you like, that will open a new page with each song listed, just click on the song you want and a download dialog box will open, choose to save the song to your pc, I put mine in a folder inside the My Music folder, you must always right click on the download once it is on your pc and select to scan the file with your Antivirus program and if you have malwarebytes you can also select to scan with it. Ewww.. such a inflammatory, confrontational thing to say. Yes technically that was the question perhaps. If everybody was like Mr. Spock and had no emotion and only thought logically we'd all be in trouble. It would be very easy for a beginner to html to bollix up a forum thread by inserting an over-sized mp3 (or worse yet a wav) into the thread. I'm not saying that she would do that or even do it here at GW forums, but practicing in a personal webpage would be better. I am astonished that people continue to use peer to peer illegal downloading services. Hasn't anyone been keeping up with the fines and prosecutions over this? This from the UK dated February 2008: "People who illegally download films and music will be cut off from the internet under new legislative proposals to be unveiled next week. Same as Sushi, I have run into the music a couple times and I use FF with Ad Block. It is very weird. I start looking around the room to see if it could be coming from somewhere else.

I do have ads blocked at this website, so I don't believe that is the problem.

this is a currently active thread here at KT. It has shown up on several AV programs with a threat warning as shown in the post.

OK, I believe you all, I guess my experience was different.

I turned off my ad-blocker and refreshed the page. An ad appeared on the right margin that was producing music. I then re-enabled the ad-blocker, refreshed the page again, and no more music.

Without trying to sound too persistent, try a different browser or a different ad blocker. It was publicly revealed a few days ago that some ad-blocking software producers will agree to allow certain ads to slip through, in return for $$$$. Fair enough, business is business. Could that be at work here?

It only happened to me only once, when I was typing a reply on a thread. It went away when that window (I had a couple of windows open at the time, as normal) wasn't active. I haven't seen it again. I did not have any threat warnings, either.

Just so long as it doesn't come back.

I have FF + AdBlock Plus... and NO music.

Hallelujah!! I'm not crazy, after all!! I've been hearing music on the Garden Party and Hot Topics for the last three days. I posted about it on the Garden Party, but nobody else had heard it. It's kind of weird sounding, a little bouncy, but eerie, too.

Suddenly, it's gone--at least, I'm not hearing it here on the KT. It may be only temporary, but I hope it's gone for good.
