Music on this Website

Below is a link to the question on posted on another Gardenweb forum. This music is driving me crazy - it is repetitious. I am hoping someone can help. This just started this weekend.

I have run Anti Spyware Blaster and MalWare Bytes. The music has not stopped.

I have gone to other websites and do not get the music on those sites. Just Gardenweb. I am running AntiSpywareBlaster again.

I believe the music comes from an ad on the page and has nothing to do with any kind of spyware or malware.

For whatever browser you're using, try adding an ad blocker. Google should help you find your way. If you don't like banning the ads, you can always disable it. Many people do use such add-on tools that keep website advertisement fields blank.

Snidely, I also has the music (once yesterday) and I use FF and AdBlock Plus. It is NOT an ad.

Frank, The JBs ate all my peaches last year. The JBs consumed all my rose flowers from late June to end of August. The JBs shredded a full-sized linden tree. Last spring I applied milky spore. I applied milky spore this spring. I saw only 2 grubs when I dug my garden this year; very unusual to find so few grubs. The drought helped the JB problem here. The linden tree was cut down in my front yard this spring. First day of JBs 2 weeks ago I had about 200 on my roses. I picked them off. I have been spraying the heck out of roses since. None have landed on my peaches yet. I was deadheading roses tonight 3 days after the last spraying of them, and only found about 10 JBs, and I still have roses blooming despite the JB invasion. I suspect that the drought was my biggest help on this, but my wife sprayed a systemic this spring intended to make roses less vulnerable, and I sprayed the heck out of them for a few weeks to see if I could get their #s down so they wouldn't attract their friends with their phernomes. Is it the combination of efforts that is working? Or is it just the 2012 drought. What else should we do to stop them from coming back next year? I am optimistic that I can get a peach crop this year. After last year I thought I would never get a fresh peach again, and was thinking I may as well throw the towel in on major rose gardening.

one site I have used for years is garageband, you will not find todays top artist there but you may find some fabulous as yet unknown artists. I like it because of that, it is different and not something I have heard a thousand times. The artist themselves put their music up on the site to be heard and maybe get a break in the industry if enough people download their music and it has definitely happened to a lot of them. Now not all of the ones there have free downloads but many do and there are a lot of categories of music. I have been a member for several years, you can also help by doing the ratings of songs and artists. GarageBand, totally legal personally anytime I download anything to one of my windows machines I just make a habit of right click and scan file prior to opening, it is a good habit to have. Never seen anything bad from garageband downloads

Ewww.. such a inflammatory, confrontational thing to say. Yes technically that was the question perhaps. If everybody was like Mr. Spock and had no emotion and only thought logically we'd all be in trouble. It would be very easy for a beginner to html to bollix up a forum thread by inserting an over-sized mp3 (or worse yet a wav) into the thread. I'm not saying that she would do that or even do it here at GW forums, but practicing in a personal webpage would be better. Same as Sushi, I have run into the music a couple times and I use FF with Ad Block. It is very weird. I start looking around the room to see if it could be coming from somewhere else.

I do have ads blocked at this website, so I don't believe that is the problem.

this is a currently active thread here at KT. It has shown up on several AV programs with a threat warning as shown in the post.

OK, I believe you all, I guess my experience was different.

I turned off my ad-blocker and refreshed the page. An ad appeared on the right margin that was producing music. I then re-enabled the ad-blocker, refreshed the page again, and no more music.

Without trying to sound too persistent, try a different browser or a different ad blocker. It was publicly revealed a few days ago that some ad-blocking software producers will agree to allow certain ads to slip through, in return for $$$$. Fair enough, business is business. Could that be at work here?

It only happened to me only once, when I was typing a reply on a thread. It went away when that window (I had a couple of windows open at the time, as normal) wasn't active. I haven't seen it again. I did not have any threat warnings, either.

Just so long as it doesn't come back.

Hallelujah!! I'm not crazy, after all!! I've been hearing music on the Garden Party and Hot Topics for the last three days. I posted about it on the Garden Party, but nobody else had heard it. It's kind of weird sounding, a little bouncy, but eerie, too.

Suddenly, it's gone--at least, I'm not hearing it here on the KT. It may be only temporary, but I hope it's gone for good.
