I need your prayers now

I've have not been on for awhile. My sweet Mom who has suffered from Alzheimers for the last 12 years is very ill and is now in palliative care at the nursing home. It is just a waiting game now. We are keeping her as comfortable as we can and spending as much time with her as possible.

Please keep her in your prayers for peace.

Mush ~ I understand what you are experiencing with your mom. Although my DH does not have Alz. as they once thought, he has had strokes that have affected his thought processes, so I have a feel for what you are going through.

I will right this moment stop and pray for your Mom and for the Lord to wrap her in the comfort of His loving arms and to help her make an easy transition from leaving this life to a glorious life with God. And also for Him to comfort you as you take this arduous journey with your mom.

Thanks everyone for all your thoughts and encouragement. I noticed all my angel wing begonias and stuff like that look like they just melted. Some things look ok, but I've been told that some that look like they are dying will recover from the roots and the ones that look ok, may very well die. So I guess what I'm hearing is a mixed bag of feelings and thoughts. With all that in mind, I guess I'll just have to leave everything exactly where it is and see what makes it and what will need to be tossed. Kylie, you little stinker I got a nice surprise in the mail from you today. Thank you, it made me feel a lot better considering all that has happenend to me today. (Big Fat Smile). The best news,just as we all hoped! Dexascan is a piece of cake - I used to do them when I worked in the Rheumatology office. Bone-building drugs may be prescribed, but they work slowly, so 6 weeks one way or the other won't make a huge difference. There are lots of reasons you can have osteopenia or osteoporosis - drug therapies, both chemo and steroids, being too thin (being under 127 pounds is a marker for risk), family history, early menopause, low calcium and Vitamin D, and the list goes on. For now, take care of yourself, be a good girl and do what the docs tell you to do. We'll all be here, thinking of you and cheering you on until those crutches are tucked away in the closet.

Thanks everyone. We talked to the vet again last night. She said he's alert & appears to be feeling better after getting an IV. He's having an ultrasound this morning; that should tell us more.

I've been through this as well. I remember grieving in advance, if that's what it would be called. Maybe you are going through that now too. Keeping her comfortable and spending time with her is about all you can do at this point. I'm so sorry and know how emotionally painful this is.

My DMIL had Alzheimer's and I know how difficult it is. Hugs to you all.

Sorry to hear that you have this issue to deal with, Mush - they call it "the long 'good-bye'" with reason.

Though you've been grieving for the sight of the familiar face ... but the sadness and frustration about the vacancy behind it, for some time, now ... as you come near the end of her life the pain increases once again.

May you find comfort to your heart and peace as she moves out of this dimension of life, and I pray also that it may be so for her, as well, and for the others of her family and friends.
