Pots are definitely the way to go if you're getting started in gardening with a disability. They're accessible from a wheelchair, and easier on the back for everyone. You can grow an endless variety of things, such as annuals, herbs, and even veggies from seeds. Seeds cost very little, and can be purchased at Home Depot or online. Succulents are another easy choice. Purchase the tiny plants from Home Depot for next to nothing, and by next year you'll have enough for many pots. We live on a busy (well, sorta busy) street on the corner of a residential street. The street is busiest during the commuting times. This is when all the people from the side roads take our road to the "main" road. During the off times and weekends our road is not very busy. We bought our house because it was a good price (because of being on a busier road) and it was EXACTLY what we were looking for and we were looking for an old (old!) house with a nice yard. Our lot is the largest in the area also and has trees surrounding the property and the backyard has a 6ft privacy fence. The back yard is like our oasis. We are big gardeners and we have plenty of land for that. We do get garbage on the front lawn but my sister also complains about that and she lives in a small neighborhood. When I complained about it one day she commented " it happens everywhere now". People seem to be stupid now and don't care where they throw there junk. The biggest thing I would like to change about my house is not the traffic but I would LOVE to have sidewalks. There are many walkers/runners and having sidewalks would be nice. I love the location of our house (close to everything that WE want to be close to). We used to live in the city and I loved it but my husband wanted to be out in the burbs. We almost have the best of both worlds (close to everything yet big lot and house ect.) If I could move my house to the city and had to deal with more traffic, I would. I like to be able to walk to stores. So, I know I would buy a house another house on a busy road if we knew it was a fit for us. Our friends purchased houses on quiet streets and they got less house, in a less nice area for the same money as us. It is a tradeoff and only you will know if it is a tradeoff you will be ok with. Also, I wouldn't mind if my street became busier if they put in deli's or little shops that I could walk too. I like the main street feel. We had little choice when we bought our house. The majority of old, historic houses are on main roads. If you are looking for a new house you will have more choices and the new house on a busy road may not sell easily. Once we find the right buyer (old house lover) I do not think they will have issues with the traffic. If we wanted a new build, we would NOT have purchased a house on a busy road. -renee

Okay, I gotta run to get some cedar planks. Could not find "my" recipe for cornbread with cheese and onions, so I did what I would have done to make it and pretty sure this is how it would work: Disclaimer: 1 - I am not a know-it-all nor a chef or whatever. This is what works for "me".. so if I sound like egotistical or I have all the answers, please forgive me.. it is a process I am always working on (cooking.. not being egotistical, I mastered that a long time ago).. so, easier to type it out than beat around the bush). 2 - Like I will explain, no matter what I cook or how many times, this is a process I do every time.. half the fun imo...and helps you refine things. Okay, Cornbread with Green Onions and Cheddar Cheese. Rules you cannot budge on when making cornbread: The quality of the cornmeal and flour WILL dictate how it tastes. "Good cornbread" can be made out of a box, "great cornbread" takes "great cornmeal" Don't skimp. If you are in a pinch, Aunt Jemima cornmeal works great and anyone that snubs their nose at it is just too picky. I prefer that or Pioneer, but there is a mill in Arkansas I think that makes it and if you are out to really kick some butt, look at the backs of each and find a local meal that works for you. Either of those first two will be plenty fine. Flour, any all-purpose will do. Second thing.. CHECK THE DATES. Out of date, heck, if it is not stored correctly, baking soda and/or baking powder can kill your cornbread. Always buy small containers so they are not stored away for a year before you use them. I keep 2-3 cans of clabber on hand and if it is halfway to the exp date, at 60 cents a can.. it is gone (that is what is left.. heh). Again.. Clabber Girl and Arm and Hammer.. name brands. You get what you pay for and rising is a must for the right texture. As for the rest of the things, the thinner the pan, the more likely to burn. Also, let everything sit out in the open for an hour or two. Bring it all to room temperature. Cornbread, like any other bread, is picky and cold spots can cause it to cook differently. So, I never stick to one recipe and, when creating one, I always make 2 or 3 small ones first to see which one I like the most. Cornbread is cheap to make.. cheaper still if you find how you like it and then never have to figure it out again ;) So, I found a couple recipes I like and would combine (remember, I never follow one recipe as they tend to make it a certain way and I am, after-all.. a know-it-all.. lol https://www.epicurious.com/recipes/member/views/cheddar-and-green-onion-cornbread-50000331 That one starts well and has most of what you need. The part about that one I am not sure about is the bell peppers. If the one you did not like did not have bell peppers, when you leave that out, they will need to be replaced with something. Now, this part would be a little expensive because you cannot get the flavor or the consistency unless you use real maple syrup from the NE... so.. just want to post this link as if it is done in moderation, it can be pretty darn good. https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1016965-brown-butter-skillet-cornbread?mcubz=1 Note: Some people frown upon sugar in cornbread and so would do the same with maple syrup. Cornbread was "bread" in the southern states and bible belt as well to some degree, so adding sugar is like a "desert" to some...I say ignore folks and have fun. Avoid adding cheese to the tops of the cornbread unless you do so in the last 10 minutes of cooking. It will brown quicker and make you think you are burning it. Summary: GOOD cornmeal Fresh baking soda and baking powder Room temp on eggs and butter etc quality baking pans Experiment in small quantities and with both convection and non convection if available. (I would use the second link.. and add some jalapenos finely diced) If you are not experienced in how to choose a jalapeno, it is very important.. and, once you learn, you find yourself loving them again. Jalapenos can be bright shiny green, then dull green with brown veins, then dark dark green, then red. Each stage has a different flavor. Want heat? leave the seeds. BRIGHT shiny smooth green is what you want for flavor without as much heat. The brown veins show the acidity age and can get hotter, dark green to red has a more "sweet" but hot flavor. Always, when baking, get the fresh smooth with no veins, cut out ALL the seeds etc just like you would in a bell pepper, and then finely dice them. This is from before the house.. but I love cooking cornbread in a skillet ;) just pre-heat the skillet before adding the cornbread mixture . Russ

I just got back from a Horse Expo. I rode on Friday morning and left from there to drive up. attended the Expo on Saturday. Met a lot of interesting people from all over, did some networking and did some shopping for the place I ride at. There were way to many vendors with more bling than substance but I managed to find some quality bits and leatherwork. Saw some nice demos. I enjoyed the ones by the less known horsemen and their actual riding/teaching than the more famous so called whisperers. Drove back this morning directly to the ranch to make my Sunday ride. I didn't feel tired until I got home. Laid my head down and that was all I remember before waking up a few hours later. I'm on a new horse now, a taller very pretty darker red mare. I feel invigorated with the challenge. She's very nice and well mannered but definitely the most sensitive horse I have ridden thus far. Requires utmost lightness and can go from zero to sixty if one doesn't take care. It's definitely leg off with this one. LOL Today was my third time riding her and she has a lovely trot. We did some very nice transitions. We also went out on the trail for a bit. She is very curious and alert to her surroundings but doesn't seem at all spooky thus far. She has only been ridden by "experienced" riders. Not a schooler, so her focus is definitely on her rider. I am enjoying the ability to put my knowledge into action with a more advanced horse. Recently I found some old friends of ours online and we have had fun reconnecting and catching up on our lives. They were from DH's side when we met and he has been having some lengthy phone conversations with one of them. Last time we were together we were in our twenties. Lost contact after marriages etc. It's beach weather. Things are opening up and I plan to have a busy summer. It was so nice to have a weekend away and be normal.
