Debbie Macomber's Cedar Cove?

Did anyone watch this on the Hallmark Channel? It was on Saturday night, and is based on the Debbie Macomber book series.

Even though I really don't like Andie McDowell as an actress, I thought I'd give it a try, as I LOVED the books (a series of about 12 books).

I thought the TV show was AWFUL!!!!!!!!!! So bad, in fact, that I won't watch any more of the shows.

I did not watch it, but was thinking of it~~I like her books also. Now I do not think I will waste by TV watching time on it~~Thanks for the heads up, Ellen.

I'm just the opposite. Wasn't planning on watching but now I have to to see how bad it really is. LOL What the heck, there's nothing really good on T.V. anyway.

Just catching up and found four more books on your lists I've also read: The Day the World Came to Town... Loved it and made me really want to go and visit Casey in Newfoundland. Marley & Me... it was about an ill-behaved dog with some real personality issues and an owner/writer who glorified his existance. Forgive me, but I didn't find this book cute and touching like so many others have. Poisonwood Bible... One of my all time favorites, but then I enjoy most of Kingslover's books. I have read some of her books but was so disappointed in the last one. I was on vacation and picked it up at a flea marker and was enjoying it very much until it just ended and would be continued in her next book that would be coming out in the coming months...I've read series books but none that just ended and you had to buy the next one to find out what happened...

I've read - and throughly enjoyed - the Blossom Street & Cedar Cove series. Excellent! On a waiting list for 20 Wishes....based on the number of people ahead of me, I expect to get it late August! :-/ Shirley,Goodness, & Mercy was funny. Go to debbie macomber(dot)com for a printable listing of her books. The only ones I've not been able to 'get into' was the Navy series. Don't know why...just the way it was. I'll have to keep an eye open for Changing Habits and Someday Soon. If it's Macomber, I'll read it!

Caution- I don't want to burst your bubble and I know we all have different tastes, so stop reading if you don't want to hear anything negative about the show. We've watched both seasons and I have to say, it's no Waltons or Little House. I really wanted to like this show, and I continued to watch it, hoping it would get better, but the scripts are pretty weak, in my opinion, and the acting is so-so, but the constant angst is annoying and seems forced. Everyone has angst in every episode, it's like the writers don't want anyone to have a happy, smooth life, ever, or if they are happy in THIS episode, just wait, we'll kill that happiness off in the next one. The scenery is beautiful. The actress who plays Grace is fantastic, I think, and as cute as a button. She steals the show. And I enjoy when the judge when is actually on the bench and trying to get people to compromise and do the right thing without her having to getting too heavy handed, or when she solves a problem for 2 opposing groups. Season 2 really focuses on the judge's daughter and she just seems to skate thru the motions, I can't force myself to care about her at all. And all the bad decisions (and there are a lot of them, constantly) that are made by the characters are so predictable. I hope the writers get it together or it's going to become a big negative soap opera. All that said, maybe my expectations are too high for a show like this. Well I watched it and I also did not like it. I too have read all the books in the series. I couldn't wait for the next one to come out. But this show wasn't what I thought it would be. I did like the person who played Jack but wasn't too sure about the actress who played Olivia. I felt that the actors who played the younger characters were just to young looking to me. I guess its just me. I wanted this show to be wonderful as the books were. I love Debbie Macomber. I buy everything she writes. Some are reissues which makes me angry. As I probably have the originals in my basement. Mary

I watched it as well. It was ok and I will give it another chance however if Andie McDowell doesn't stop giggling like a school girl (she's playing a judge for crying out loud!) I will stop watching it.

can't remember the other book 10-15 years ago that was soooo bad! it takes a really GOOD script writer to convert a book to a 2 hr movie...lets face it, they are mass producing these movies...lay you odds it was filmed in 6 weeks or less...often the authors have no say, but a healthy check!

I watched it, it was enjoyable but kinda draggy. I will watch it next week and see if it gets better. I just loved the scenery.

I liked it but haven't read the books. I agree her giggling was a little annoying.
