You are not going to get everything you wished for. Even if the filter of a bagless is washable, it will eventually need to be replaced. That Euro Pro will need to have its filter replaced. Notice that some sites will also advertise the replacement filter. If you want the features of the listed Euro Pro EP604 then check out the Eureka Optima liteweight upright. It will work very well for someone who has wood floors, a few area rugs or small amount of wall-to-wall. With any bagless, make sure that the filter is cleaned regularly. So many times, people will get a vacuum and will later say they hate the bagless, because the suction dropped off. Well, that is the filter. If they just tapped the filter after every use and occasionally rinsed the filter(some brands), and replaced the filter,then there would not be too much of an issue with the suction. No, the Riccar RSL series you can not turn the brush roll off. This was not a concern for me as my mothers house is 3/4 carpets. As far as I know, none of the light weigth uprights have a brush roll stop option. They are mainly designed to clean carpets with a quick linoleum/tile vacuum if needed. I would not use one on hard wood floors. If you have mostly hard floors, I would look at getting a light weight canister vac. Then you can go from the hard surface to carpet pretty easily. The Miele S5281 Callisto has an electric powerbrush that can be turned off right at the handle. So does the Riccar Pizzazz Compact, and both of these units are in the $500-$600 range. The Riccar Supra Quick is just a small canister with a floor brush. It even has a shoulder strap to help carry it. I would go down to your local vacuum store and try out a few models. Go with what will be easiest to manuver and use. A caniter can be bulky, but there is very little strain on wrists while vacuuming.

Joann23456, any floor cleaner with a spinning brush would end up with that problem. Update on my Eureka Stick Vacuum so far... I picked up mine this evening so I only played with it for a short time. However, enough to see how well/bad it worked. So, here's my review. I was disappointed that it was a bit harder to push it on the carpet than my Dyson. I guess, that's because it doesn't have wheels to assist it. As already mentioned from a review, it picked up dirt better when the vacuum was going backward than forward. On my tile floor, it did okay with the brush turned off. It didn't pick up as well as my Dyson. This was probably either, I'm used to the suction power of my Dyson or its suction wasn't as good as from the reviews I've read. Therefore, I had high expectation. Since I have Saltillos floor, I know that the spinning brush won't hurt this type of floor surface. So, I turned it on and it did a better job in picking up more than just dust. I'm glad. Otherwise, back to the store it would go. I too had the Sweeper Swifter and this stick vacuum works slightly better because it has suction. Plus, don't need to wait for battery to recharge. Overall: We get what we pay for. It sure worths just $25 and no more. I think my Dyson spoiled me and I shouldn't have had high expectation for this little "Quick up". I should have known: The higher the expectation, the harder we fall! This Stick Vacuum should only be treated as a hard floor cleaner or secondary carpet cleaner. Since it works with the spinning brush and I mainly be using it on tiled floor, it's a keep.

Bissell PROlite Multi-Cyclonic Upright Vacuum, Bagless, 17G5 Love it, we have hardwood, tile and carpet and it cleans all surfaces and has brush switch at the handle. Bought it on Amazon - with free shipment it was $50 saving on the price compared to Target or Lowes. The only thing -it is a bit heavy but still best so far. I have hardwood floor and carpet in bedroom, and I followed with dust whiper on hardwood floor -- almost no dust to speak off. I will not get under your couch without attachments - too thick front body. Still, I like it for the price and quick clean up. Have not tried the attachments yet."
