If you post over on the Crafts and Decorations forum I'm sure you will have your question answered. Good luck. Punk

I think gag gifts should be cheap and creative and generally something you "make" (or re-purpose). Do you sew? You could take an ordinary-looking flannel nightgown make it really racy... cut an opening in the back from the bottom to about halfway up (actually cut away some material so that the wearer's legs will be exposed, then edge it with lace and frill it up. Maybe add something like a fluffy bunny-tail at the top of the cut-out? :p Get a small box and fill it with "Do not disturb" signs! :) Edit: Just found this idea on E-How... Make a 'Rug Burn Prevention Kit'. They suggest using a child's plastic lunch box, but you could use anything suitable -- even an ordinary box. Label it "Rug Burn Prevention Kit" and fill it with things like knee pads, knuckle protectors, antibacterial ointment and bandages. (actually, with those contents, it would be a 'rug burn prevention and treatment kit'.) This post was edited by party_music50 on Sat, Apr 5, 14 at 20:47

The appropriateness of this gift depends on the crowd. Know your audience. In the underwear section of Wal-Mart or Target, you can usually find Christmas boxers or nighties. I bought some red boxers with faux white trim and added a note that said "Someone's getting Christmas tonight!" My dh received some boxers that said "North Pole". Some of the women's not for public veiwing outfits can be pretty absurd too. Something less risque would be the gift of duct tape. It comes in different colors so it could be extra festive. In the link are some top ten lists for the use of duct tape. I'd print one of these or doctor up my own top ten and attach to the gift. Here is a link that might be useful: Top Ten Lists

Funny, we were just talking about this the other day. DH has a secret santa thing at work and it's an occasion to have fun with other people, DH is bracing himself with good humor for whatever might come his way, HOWEVER, as fun as it might be at times, you also have to think it through and decide if what you are doing is appropriate. DH is secret santa for a very kind man who he could not imagine giving a gag gift, so his gift will be among the more thoughtful ones. This is tread lightly IMO and if you don't know the person well, or the gift is too much of a direct shot, it's probably not funny. A long while back, someone gave my mother the most hideous Christmas plate as a gift. She in turn gave it to my brother as a gag gift. From then on it turned up on most Christmases, but you never knew who was going to end up with it. Half the fun was trying to disguise and surprise. It died out after a few years though and I can't remember who had it last. Like all things, it had an expiration.
