i can't imagine what it could be...it's always pretty fast for me...(if I have problems, it's because of our router...not firefox)

I am a FireFox user... it is much faster than IE on my system.

I was reading through a few threads and someone mentioned that the new version was horrible, and was experiencing the same things I am!!

I believe when I downloaded it, it didn't let me download a previous version. I'll have to look into it again.

Thanks for asking! I downloaded 2.0. It isn't as slow as 3.0 was but it still takes a while to open a site. Whether it's my email, or other shortcuts, it sits there for while. For the most part once I'm inside a site it moves quickly.

I only have 2 Add-ons, Freecyle (I'm a new moderator; which is why I got FF to begin with) and Yahoo toolbar. So I'm still perplexed, but thanks for directing me to CompHelp!

so, sigh......in a nutshell, not really. lol

Sherry, you see how anxious I was to see if you had worked out the problem, I posted twice!

I think a new program takes a while to find a site, but after it has "learned" the way it speeds up. You might want to get rid of the Yahoo Toolbar. I think that would help.

Also do you keep your cache and cookies cleaned out?

Each day when I get on the computer I check my email first (of course)and then I go to CompHelp to read anything that I think might pertain to me now or in the future. Things change so fast and there is so much that can cause problems I like to be a little forewarned.

Keep working on it and you will soon have everything running smoothly.

I was going to comment on your double-posting, but didn't want to sound rude. I'm still very much a newbie here. But I'm lovin' this little community you all have here!!

Last nite I got a glimpse of the powerful speed it is capable of. All of a sudden a few sites were opening in a flash. I thought for sure, it had to learn the sites I use more often. Then it went back to normal.
This morning I timed it, and it takes 3 minutes to open a shortcut.

I uninstalled the Yahoo toolbar on another person's advice, but nothing had changed at all, so it went back up again.

I'm off to CompHelp to search a Yahoo com vs ca problem. For some reason my email which is yahoo.ca, downloaded as .com, and the two are conflicting. Have no idea what to do to fix it.

Firefox wiped out all my bookmarks. I had been using it for about 2 months and one day, wham, they were gone. We tried all the fixes posted on the internet to no avail. They were totally gone.

Seems to be a common problem with Firefox judging by the responses when you google Firefox lost bookmarks.

I would recommend if you're using Firefox you back up your bookmarks frequently.

I ended up uninstalling it.

I am using Internet Explorer as my browser and Mozilla's Thunderbird for e-mail. This combination is working well for me.

I've used Firefox for a long time, but yes, it is slow. Of course it's a speed demon compared to Internet Explorer but that's not saying much. My favorite browser by far is Opera and second fav is K-meleon. Frankly, I think K-meleon is faster than Opera but I like all the features of Opera. I generally keep all 3 browsers open and use them for different things. I monitor weather with Firefox, email with K-meleon and surfing is done with Opera.

Sherry, I'm still curious about your problems with FF. Before I settled on FF I tried Opera, but didn't like it as well so I stayed with FF.There has got to be a reason why it isn't working for you. When you uninstalled Yahoo Toolbar did you then do a Restart? If not, try again and do the Restart. I find that a restart after any change is a good practice.

If speed, or lack of, is the main problem, maybe speed means different things to different people. Maybe my FF is slow and I don't even realize it. I like it fine whatever the speed is.

There's no doubt that FF is slow. I timed opening my mail, and it took 3 minutes! So no doubt on that. (All sites are slow to open)
WHO is ravencajun??? He (?) is amazing! I'm hoping that he's a PAID mod or something.....his knowledge is invaluable, not to mention that he's usually one of the very first people to respond.

Anyway, since my computer is a laptop a fellow here has generously offered to take a look at it (He's a firm believer in FF) and see what the problem might be. I posted this on FullCircles asking for help/ideas, as well and we've written back and forth.

Thanks again to you and the group for the very warm welcome and reception. Not too mention all the knowledge you've given me in such a short period of time. I've learned a lot!!
