I buy Hanes. I wear athletic shoes and cowboy boots and I need durability.

I wear socks only when it's cold enough for my feet to be cold.
I buy my socks either at Kohl's or Walmart....brand means nothing to me. Quality, durability and price are more important. I'm not hard on them, and I probably have some in my drawer that are old enough to vote.

Thorlos.

I don't wear sock to the office but I certainly do on the hiking trail and won't wear anything but Thorlo women's light hiker mini crew socks. I have small feet and because Thorlo offers women's sizes in a much shorter size range (5-6.5 for me) I don't have to worry about the toes or heels bunching up. Love these socks!

I have never heard of Thorlo, so I looked them up and I signed up for a free pair to try them. Cowboy boots are hard on socks and I wear my boots 3-4 times a week. I'll give them and try and see how they do.

I only wear socks in the winter. I like loose fitting socks. I have purchased the ones I like at walmart but am in need for new ones.

For my DH, he wears Wolverine all-climate steel toe boot socks. He also has wool Wigwam, Adidas mid calf, Tek Gear low cut socks.

For hiking I wear a wool sock by Wigwam. For running, a fitted low cut sock Adidas climacool. Then I have light weight crew socks for walking in shoes....I just purchased a pair yesterday, they have a very fine weave, a silky feel and a price tag of $6.45ea. I don't see a manufacturer on them.

The "free" pair costs $4.90 for shipping and handling. Some of us (like me!) are too frugal to think of that as free. ;-)

I wear wool socks all fall, winter, and into the spring. Most of mine were gifts from my daughter--therefore, good brands. Those I buy for myself come from sock manufacturers who sell on eBay, or sometimes from Sam's Club.

For cotton socks in summer, I need cotton. I like softness and an elasticized top I can tuck my pants into when I'm mowing or gardening. A tick defense! This year I'm wearing Hanes or Fruit of the Loom--I forget which.

I LOVE socks. I'm with 'socks' above, they have to be durable, well made and have cushioning.
Daily socks are generally low rise athletic socks, but I love cushy hiking socks. And when I'm feeling under the weather a fluffy brightly colored pair of socks helps brighten my day.
I've seen the Thorlos on Ebay, they are pricey, so I went ahead and sprang $4.90 for the 'free' pair.

I like the black gold toe socks in cooler weather. I don't wear socks in the summer.

Necessary for work, but then they come off in the summer for barefoot in the sand.

My newest favorites are HUE that I found at TJ Maxx a while back. They are the most comfortable for my foot, they have a high cotton content which is very hard to find for low sport socks these days. I am quite certain I will never find them anywhere ever again...ha...this always happens if I find something that I really like a lot. I will check Macy's and see.

I wear them almost every day. My days off, if we stay home, I might go bare foot in the house, or I'll wear my moccasins. I need something on my feet because they're always cold, even when it's hot outside. Going for a leg scan in 2 weeks to find out why... ;) In the summer, I like thinner socks, in the winter thicker socks. They can't go above my ankles. But they can't be so low they hide inside my runners. They always end up falling down and inside my shoe and it drives me crazy. Lately, I just wear whatever is the best price of bagged socks at Costco

Arkansas, Hue socks are available at Amazon, I think, and I think even zappos, but the best price is Macy's when they are on sale, use a coupon. They might be on sale now.

I think I'll get a pair of those "free" Thorlos too! Kinda high shipping for a pair of socks, though.

I got some really nice socks from Costco last winter, debby.

Gold Toes are pretty good too. DH wears them.

I only wear socks in cold weather. Knitting socks is one of my favorite things , I give them as gifts and love wearing them myself.

I like Bridgedale socks.

The last socks I got, I purchased at Dollar Tree. Two pair for $1 and they're surprisingly durable.

I decided to try the freebie at Thorio's ...can't get a good pair of socks for 4.90 so I decided it was worth that much postage...I'll try the Hue's next...always looking for a good pair of socks for DH...

Typically I pay between $15 and $18 for my Thorlos, so $4.90 is definitely a good deal!

$13 for socks? Omg. I can't do that. My frugal mother would be flipping in her grave!

I only wear socks in winter generally unless it is some special activity in the summer.
I am Diabetic so my feet being healthy is very important. I usually wear the mini crew height, I do have some of the shorter ones and a few knee high for winter.
I can't have any that have the top too tight so that it cuts off circulation and causes swelling. I do like the ones with the arch support feature.
I just cleared out my sock drawer last week and have way too many socks. I gave away so many that were maybe worn once. But if I buy them and they end up being too tight around my ankle I don't wear them again. My husband is the same way, a tight sock around the ankle will cause him to have bad foot pain.
I have various brands. I like some of the ones I get that are skechers brand. He really likes Nautica socks but has a hard time finding them.
I am not tied to a brand, I have to see them, feel them, test the top elastic for how tight it is.
