Looking for a recent article in the WW magazine!

Does anyone have a copy of the WW magazine dated June 25th, 2010 handy? I read an article about Rainforest Herbs and am looking for the name of one of them. I am not home so can't look it up myself. I use Cat's Claw for pain and swelling and it works awesome for me. I believe on the opposite page something is listed that begins with "C" and is two words. It is for stress relief! I would appreciate it if someone could respond with the name of the herb!

Tony, Yeah, I had a hard time envisioning the bear-protection-program she resorted to, but it was a very funny image. We don't fit their profile either.I infer that profile of their readership by the cost of items they advertise. I don't know why I even mentioned that. Maybe I felt funny about saying "I read it in the New Yorker" the same way I sometimes feel strange about referencing the New York Times instead of USA Today. Writing on these formums is really an act of trust, isn't it? We really know o little about the people we send our thoughts out to: we don't see what kind cars each other drives, or homes, not to mention other subtle indicators of income or class. I think I was also wondering how a bee-keeping article by a staff writer of this magazine would sit with the ordinary beekeeper. So far, I have not a met a single gentleman or "gentlewoman" beekeeper. Here's another reading recommendation: a slim novel called "The Final Solution" by MIchael Chabon. The protagonist is a very old, retired sleuth, who comes out of his private isolated world- which includes beekeeping- to solve one final case. You may recognize the book title as one of the last Sherlock Holmes story titles. There's a description there of him filling his briar pipe with a particularly noxious dark smokey tobacco, and exhaling into the hive to quiet the bees. It is priceless.Lots of good bee obervations, too, as literary and symbolic devices- I thought it was just neat to see bees "talked" about in a different perspective. I feel the same way about this little thread, and other occasional ones: beekeeping as a spiritual experience. Linda, I completely agree. While I would love to share with her since I'm in CT, my tiny backyard really precludes the planting of most host plants, so I always concentrate on nectar plants which draw the greatest number of butterflies. Do you think she would be interested in the Connecticut Butterfly Association Garden at Lighthouse Point in New Haven, CT? I just got my newletter with a write-up about how successful it was last summer.( I have yet to get there, but hope to volunteer there this year.) Or is she only interested in backyard-type garden? This was so much information! Thank you! I want to pull out what I found to be the most interesting and post it on it's own. "Just as the body was formed and operates on a priority basis, so it heals on a priority basis. This means that the most important parts of the body get the healing attention before the less vital tissues. We can't force the body to place its healing priority on weight loss when in fact the liver is about to die, for example. The liver is more important to your body than the extra pounds. So all the energies of the body go to heal the liver and weight loss will stop. The body will not compromise what health and vitality it does have in one part of the body to bring about healing in another. In other words, the body will not "rob Peter to pay Paul." So you may be eating nutritionally and exercising and you start out losing some weight. But then all of a sudden, you become stuck at a certain weight -- the needle on the scale won't budge anymore. The body is rejoicing on the inside and saying things like, "You know, we have all this extra energy now because Mr. Doughnut here has decided to start eating right and exercising -- let's take some of our new available energy and start the healing process on his congested liver!" So the body will take all the available energy and channel it into the liver. As a result the weight loss stops. The body will NOT take away any energy needed for daily activities and maintenance. It will only take what is left over to start the healing process. It's my belief that the body does not completely heal one part before moving on to the next item on its priority list. Rather, it heals a part to the degree that it is no longer a priority. At that point the healing attention is shifted to the part of the body that is now in most need of repair. In the above example, once the liver has been cleansed somewhat, the body will refocus its attention on other areas... perhaps back to weight loss. During my weight loss period, I would hit plateaus where it seemed like I'd never lose another pound. I lost 10 pounds and then nothing for 3 weeks. During that time I woke up one morning and my arthritis was gone and my blood sugar had stabilized somewhat. If you keep on your diet and exercise program, you will eventually lose all the weight you want. A healthy body is not overweight. Remember, "Always strive for health and the weight loss will happen!"

Thanks, its not that important. I just thought someone would have the magazine hanging around. I will check mine when I get home. I was thinking I would take a run to the local health store while they were open yesterday to look for it. Happy 4th!!

No that is not the one but I believe that was also listed. The one I was looking for is two words that repeats itself and is for relieving stress instantly. I sure could use that! I will be going home later today and when I do I will post it. Thank you anyway. I googled it and all I came up with is the one that you posted. Hope you all had a great weekend. I did!

Are you perhaps thinking of Kava Kava? It is taken for stress and anxiety.

Okay, I am home now. Before I start I need to mention that I should probably take something for memory first. LOL! It is the Woman's World Magazine but the date is July 5, today. The most recent one. I said the herb was two words that repeats itself. Here it is!
