Rita.....tell your friend she can go to her "history" and right click on any of the sites visited. Click "Properties" and it will give you the time the site was visited.

I have Mozilla, I just tried that and it doens't have properties listed. Maybe it's an IE thing?

The properties of the browsing history can be set to trash the contents pretty quickly, so it could be gone by the time the coworker checks it.

Caution -- is the coworker who is wanting to know the browsing time/history a different person than the person whose time is going to be checked? This can be treading on dangerous legal ground. Even though employers can have a caution warning when going onto the Internet that all activities can be tracked, etc., courts have held that employees have a reasonable expectation of privacy... so a supervisor/manager has to have a good reason for tracking the information.

I tried that on my computer, and all entries in today's history have the same time. ?? But I'll tell her to try that anyway! May just be a glitch on my system.

Oklahoma is an "at will" state, which means any hiring is presumed to be "at will"; that is, the employer is free to discharge individuals "for good cause, or bad cause, or no cause at all." It is not the employee's computer...it is in the administrative office, so someone is slipping in there to check Facebook, etc. Knowing the time of day will tell them which employee.

On Firefox History/View there is an option to show time or date. Each day's activity will have the time. After 24 hours it will have the date.

At least that is the way it is on mine.

Rita...it could be because I'm using the Google chrome browser....my daughter just tried with her IE browser and got the same visitation time for each site......so perhaps if they are using a different browser than IE they may be able to track times....

I have IE and checked mine just for the heck of it.Mine all have different times....

What I don't understand is there is a cloumn titled "expires" and some of the dates in there are like 2028, 2018 - what in the world could that mean?

okwriter -- There's probably an easier way to accomplish this... Don't those computers require a password to log onto the network? If they don't, they should.

Once passwords are set to be used, each user should log off before another user logs on. So, if Susie Q is going to lunch and Betty Boop is going to fill in at her desk, Susie Q logs off, and Betty Boop logs on. Then Betty Boop and Susie Q each have their own "profile" on the computer, each with their own preferences and settings.

Then, the network administrator can log in with an administrative password, which allows him/her to view everyone's profile/settings. You don't need to know what the time of day is when a site is visited. If Betty Boop goes to Facebook, the Internet history on HER profile will show it, but Susie Q's profile will not (unless, of course, Susie Q is going to Facebook, too).

And, on a network, the administrator doesn't even have to physically go to the machine to check it. It can be checked remotely.

Don't those computers require a password to log onto the network? NO.

I "get" what passwords are and how to use them. But thank you for that very elementary explanation.

Since your sister's company doesn't require passwords...

Unless that company restricts (and enforces that restriction) who uses what computer at what time, there is no way to determine who was using the computer to log onto Facebook.

Even if Susie Q had gone to lunch and Betty Boop was filling in at her desk, if Betty goes to the bathroom and Joe Schmoe sits down and goes to Facebook quickly, you can't pin anything on Betty Boop without password restrictions.
