I have several pouches (clear so I can see what's in them) for the different categories: makeup, notebook/calendar/pens, cell phone and camera/ etc... always know where things are and easy to take out the pouch and slip back in when done! (Easy to change purses this way, too!)

I also keep the keys in the top inside pocket for easy access, too!

I like one big space and a zipped pocket on the side. The pocket takes my pillbox (with meds for sinus and asthma), a comb, my pen and a couple of cough drops.

Everything else is dumped into the main compartment: wallet, hairbursh, small lint roller, a couple packets of hand wipes, packet of tissues, small container of hand lotion. Sometimes I carry a checkbook; have a shopping list and coupons when I go to the grocery. I don't have a lot of stuff in my purse. I can 'dump and switch' in a minute.

Oops, forgot to mention my cell phone.

My house is a mess. My purse is always neat as a pin.

I always make sure I buy a purse with several outside small pockets.

Outside pockets: 1- meds (aspirin, antacids, eye drops, etc)
2-cell phone
3-pocket watch (I don't wear watches)
4- a spare for odds and ends---business or gift cards, etc.

Inside: zipper pocket--spare car key, keys to my other house, small mirror, nail clippers. I have a small bottle of hand sanitizer attached to the zipper slide.
Inside the main compartment: my wallet, a comb, a notepad, few pens, purse-sized pack of 'pretty' tissues (I get the printed ones) and my sunglasses case. Sometimes, my camera.

I have a brass clip on my main key ring, so it attaches to the brass ring that attaches my shoulder strap to the purse itself.

I clean my purse every Thursday, without fail. All spare change goes into my change jar, all trash is tossed.

My purse is organized. I used to carry a larger one but I've started using a smaller purse with a zippered, gusseted organizer pocket on the front. I can put all my cards in the organizer slots and eliminate my wallet. I keep the cash in one of the zippered compartments inside the purse. There are 2 small pockets on the front for my cell phone and change. The overall size is about 8 by 7 by 3. I have room for my keys, tissues, a notepad and pen, a comb, Chap Stick, emergency numbers etc.

The strap is long enough to wear cross body so now my hands are completely free which is great in the supermarket. It makes going through my coupons so much easier and I can turn away from my cart without worry. And it's eliminated much of the shoulder pain I used to have.

And if I'm heading out and need to take larger items (an unbrella, sweater or camera) I can just toss my little purse into my bigger bag or tote. My cell phone has a camera so I can snap a photo with that.

What purse? I have all my necessary cards in a credit card size leather carrier and carry it in a pocket. I usually use my cash card but there is a zipper pocket I can stick some bills in.

My purse...I use LIFO.

Everytime I change out a handbag, it is so lovely when I'm finished. All the receipts are filed away, all the trash is thrown away, all the collected here and here "unnecessaries" are taken out.

The change out is *so* nice. I swear I will keep it nice and organized forever.

By the next day, it is a black hole again.

I suspect the key words in your post was "*MIGHT* need". That is the starting point of getting rid of the unnecessaries *LOL*

I used to carry a smaller clutch type purse inside a bigger purse, which could hold other things like a book, mail, a camera or whatever. The smaller purse contains checkbook, billfold, some minimal first aid and Rx type things. I could just carry the smaller purse for shopping trips... Leave the bigger bag behind.
Now I mostly use the smaller purse, and a little zipper wallet/key ring, which has one ID, one credit card, coins (sometimes a thumb drive) and cash. I can clip the zipper wallet to my belt loop and don't have to worry about carrying anything.

I LOVE my "Purse Brite Organizer". You kind of roll it up and slip it into whatever purse you are going to carry and it spreads out to fill the space just right. It's got lots of pockets, some open, some with closures. And I always buy a purse with outside pockets as well. The Purse Brite has a spot for pens, lipstick, oh, just all kinds of things. And the big stuff sits in the middle of the purse, loose, but still organized. And the best thing is that when I want to change purses, I just lift the whole thing out and slip it into another purse. And it's so easy to clean my purse, too. I know, I sound like a commercial, but I do love it.

I carry a small purse. Absolutely hate carrying a purse but snug jean pockets don't hold much more than a knife or a cell.

Inside pocket has a pill container,nail clippers,gum and a little tooth pick/brush thingy.

Main compartment has a small wide toothed comb,wipes,a pen,my cell phone and my wallet. Still has room for my pocket camera if I want. Keys are there when the day starts. Once I use them they go in my pocket.

I don't carry a real wallet. It is one of those little leather flat ones with a larger zippered main compartment,an outer zipped coin pocket and a couple of open compartments on the other side for ID,cards etc.

All receipts etc are removed nightly along with change. I use cash for almost everything. I don't use debit cards or credit cards except for a couple of store credit cards one of which is also a use anywhere Visa.

Haven't wrote a check in over a decade other than for house hold utility bills and mortgage and now I pay online so no need for a checkbook.

I have the Purse Brite Organizer also. Ditto what Donna said.

When i carry one,which isn't often it's a small one,holds my wallet,cell phone and a pen.I'm never gone long enough for anything else,and if i am going to be say like at DR appt.,then i use a totebag so i an carry a book and puzzle book.

Mostly i just carry a wallet,which fits in my pocket.

JoAnn, keeping a purse organized is about impossible...however since you made me my wonderful purse organizer, mine actually is not so bad anymore. I could use a bigger purse though!

I only use my purse for insurance cards, I.D., Driver's Lic., C.C.s, Debit card, and money, coupons.(that's in my wallet) Lipstick, powder(that's in my side pouch) cell phone(that's in the cell phone holder) That all.
