Need ideas for transporting pies

I am making 3 pies today to take to a family reunion tomorrow. I need ideas on how to transport them. The Rhubard Sour Cream pie will be on ice in a cooler so that will be no problem. The other two could be stacked in the cooler if they didn't crush each other.

I have an extended cab small truck and DS and I will be in front and the puppy will be in his carrier behind the front seat.

Any suggestions are welcomed.

I take pies to Thanksgiving every year. I bought a couple of plastic pie carriers but I found that some pie plates don't fit in them and the carriers definitely didn't fit in the cooler. So I usually just wrap the pies and cover them with an inverted dinner plate. I use pie plates with handles like {{!gwi}} and the plates fit perfectly over them, resting mainly on the handles. Then I can stack them in the cooler. If they need whipped cream, I pack that separately and put it on before serving.

What a simple idea, just to turn over a plate and wrap with foil or plastic wrap. Never would have thought of that on my own.
Who need all those fancy gadgets? Not me!

Unless that boulder is made of pumice, you are looking at at least 1500 pounds! Think of how much a yard (3x3x3ft) of rock mulch weighs: usually about a ton(2000 lbs.). You could call a landscape supply place that sells rock mulch to varify. I am trying to remember what the max load is on a Home Depot truck, I think it is 1500 pounds. Better call them to make sure. In addition, even if you were able to get in on the truck, just rolling it off would damage the hinges that hold the side walls on, if not crushing the side wall itself. Barring a loader, a tow truck, I think, would be the best option. One that has a tiltable bed. Still, you would need some way to facilitate the sliding of the rock onto the bed without too much friction. Pulling a vehicle onto the bed is easy: it has wheels. Dragging a rock is a completely different thing.

You do not say how old the child is. I'm not sure if quit hiding is the right approach to harassment. You should work with the school officials to tackle the harassment issues. You might be able to get him on a different route perhaps or you can get special arrangements made for the bus ride. Again, a lot depends on how old the child is. Do you know parents of any of his friends who are car riders? I do not know if I would do advertising to ask for a stranger to take my child to school. I would probably rather reach out to other adults related to the school that I already know. There are college kids who contact our school from time to time to do nanny type work including carpooling - but it's arranged thru the school.

Israeli Salad is a favorite, easy, fresh tasting, and it goes with anything. Chop equal amounts of cucumbers & tomatoes in about a 1/4 inch dice. Add your choice of other veggies...sweet onions, bell pepper, radishes, frozen corn kernels or peas, apples, pears (crisp varieties), melon, jicama, etc..you get the idea. I prefer to limit it to 4 items, so that each flavor can stand on it's own, without being too confused. Finely chop herbs of your choice. I like parsley, or mint, and sometimes one of the mint cousins like marjoram. Sometimes I use chives. Mix a dressing of extra virgin olive oil, salt and fresh lemon juice, in the proportions you favor. I like to use 2 parts of lemon juice to 1 part oil as I like the tart flavor, and tend to go easy on the salt as people can always add it at table. I love this with Meyer lemons, as the juice is on the sweet side, but you can use the more acidic varieties if that's what you have, though you may want to add a bit of sugar. Anyway, toss it all together and let it sit to "moogle" for at least 15 minutes before serving.

Tractor Supply has a good selection, remember, if you don't get one with a "drop down" ramp, you'll have to buy ramps. I'd also check with "four wheeler" places as it seems that everyone that has one has a trailer to haul it around on. Whatever you end up getting, invest in "bearing buddies" or whatever they're called now so you can keep the wheel bearings full of grease. Spare tire is also a good idea. IMHO, I'd stay FAR away from fold up trailers, remember you're going to be hauling some weight at highway speeds. You don't mention what you'll be towing with, plan on getting a receiver hitch also the wiring adapter for your vehicle. If you have a pickup, should have a step and tow bumper which would handle this light load, regular vehicles don't have bumpers anymore. :-) Unfortunately, cost and storage definitely come into play and you'll be spending some $$ and moving the trailer so you can mow under it in my experience. I transport pies a lot. I have several plastic Tupperware pie holders and I stack two of them in a blue nylon round carrier with strap handles that I bought at Aldi's. I have 3 of the carriers and many of the Tupperware pie holders. The holders are deep enough for most pies and big enough for 10 inch pies. I also have a Longerberger basket that holds two pies, but I seldom use it. If I needed to transport more than the carries I have, I would probably just stack the rest of the Tupperware pie holders in a box or basket, whatever worked. If I need to transport pies that need to keep cold, I just put one of the frozen cold packs in with my pies. Good luck transporting your pies.

Linda, I have bought all of mine at rummage sales over the years and I use them a lot as I bake a lot of pies at times. Sometimes I just see the lids and buy those or sometimes they might just have the bottoms. It works for me. Have a great time at your reunion.

I use my 10" cake pans.
Just put the pie in the pan, and cover with plastic wrap or foil.
To stack them, I put a 12" cake board between them.

Thanks of all the wonderful suggestions. My dear neighbor saw this post and offered me her two Tupperware pie takers. I bought disposable pies pans with lids today. Since this will be at a lake, no one will be expecting the pies to be in beautiful glass pie pans.
Problem solved.
