orlando area...in season 10 for $1.00 which is late april-may locally grown, zellwood. any other time is 4 or 5 for $1.00. wow i never realized our's was sooo cheap, most 'food' is more expensive here ~ liz

My Mom once bought 36 ears for a dollar, they were grown in the farmland of Niagara County NY, where the famous Niagara Falls is located. Well, the "famous" falls are in Canada, but there's a Niagara Falls NY, too. Anyhow, Niagara County NY is famous for its farmlands, especially its grapes and wines.

Corn on the cob is ridiculously expensive here. It's a dollar an ear if not more!!!

whatever walmarts price is, for one.

USED to ex and I would drive down to the Farmer Market and buy a bushEL right off the trucks. NOW THAT'S GOOD STUFF

This week one of the supermarkets has it for 20 cents an ear, both white and yellow. I prefer the yellow!

$4 a doz---no taste---waiting for our local corn, now that should be good!

We don't pay for it. At the plant where DH works they plant a huge field of sweet corn every year, when its ready all the employees can get corn.. We usually end up with about 100 ears, all frozen and ready to eat on all winter.

Glenda = Publix had it 12/$1.49 for couple of weeks before we went on vacation.
The Farmer's market on Finley Blvd. isn't much cheaper the walmart lately, disappointing, that.
I'll buy 3/1.00 or less. If it is more then it's not in season and tastes like paper-mache.

The last month or so the white corn has been 4 or 5 ears for a dollar, which is on the cheap side for our area.

I wish I could find cheaper corn. The best around here (Long Island) is 4 for $1.

Our locaal store had some earlier that were 10 for $3.00. I should have known! I only got five ears, but they were horrible. We have a local farmer that sells out on the curb, and their corn is always so very,very good, and usually about 60¢. I should have waited.

I paid 5 for $1.99 yesterday. It's not truly in season here yet, so I didn't hate that price. And it was delicious. Around here (MA) we have mostly Butter & Sugar corn, which is good, because that's all I like. I LOVE it. I would not buy just yellow or just white, even if I saw it. In a few weeks the prices will be much lower.

I remember once when I was in college I went for a drive one night with friends. We wound up on a road by a farm with a huge cornfield. We stopped and stole several dozen ears. But when we got home we found it was "Cow" corn, no good for humans to eat. My night of crime!

Corn on the cob season is just getting started and it is 14 ears for 5 dollars, it will go down to 14 ears for 3 dollars and then back up when the season gets to an end. We have had 4 dozen ears so far this summer and everyone has been awesome.

This week 4/1.00...and it's fantastic - at Wegman's.

You can eat field or "cow" corn if you pick it at the right time and fix it right away. Nice big kernels of corn on it. It just might not be quite as sweet, but it isn't bad if you get it at the right time.

just paid $1.99 for a dozen at the farmers market
and it was really good.

So far this year I have seen it for 19 cents and 50 cents per ear. The local corn isn't in yet, I don't think.

Just yesterday we stopped at a farmer's stand and the sign posted was, 13 ears, $5.00, which is cheap for really good corn in this area.....

Usually from a buck and a half to 2 bucks a dozen, in season, in his area ... for what we call "Peaches and Cream", white and yellow mixed.

My corn is just setting cobs, came out in tassel a few days ago.

I expect to need to borrow my friend's dog for a couple of weeks when the season rolls around.

Last year I got about a dozen for the churches one Sunday, and next week when I went out to pick ...

... there were no ripe cobs on the stalks, and a mess of corn ears lying on the ground between the rows. I made the mistake of counting them - about 12 dozen. And the most angrifying thing was ... there was only a couole of bites, maybe three or so, taken from each ear! Then on to pull the next one down from its stalk.

I wonder how many of the little buggers it took to conduct such depradations? Probably not more than three - if that!

When you have three teeth (all in the same jaw) ... you'll need to slip a knife down the cob before you put it to the lip, to avoid frustration.

Apologies in order - my neighbour says that it's running about 5 bucks a dozen, around here.

My corn came out in tassel a couple of weeks ago, now forming cobs with silk around ...

... have arranged with my friend to borrow his female canine in a week or so, when the corn gets ripe enough to interest the coons.

Last year, score was about a dozen for the churches ...

... and about a dozen dozen for the coons (which take about a bite or two per cob: corn is always more golden/tasty on the next stalk, it appears).
