What color is your KitchenAid stand mixer?

What a great thread - I have the original white, lift bowl Model K 5A. And I have to confess that many times over the years I've been tempted by the siren call of those glorious cobalt, pistachio and and chrome machines. But I have a strong sentimental attachment to my Kitchen Aid and I still remember the day my husband and I purchased it. While waiting to have the tires changed on our 1971 Plymouth Duster we wandered across the parking lot to a Best Products store. He spied me eyeing the mixer and encouraged me to buy it. I thought it was too extravagant - we were living on one income and he still had 2 more years of med school. But we had been scrimping and watching every penny and DH was working in the lab on weekends so he bought it for me. I still have the receipt, I use it as a bookmark inside my Joy of Cooking. That was 11/20/1976 and I paid $164.89 for it. And it's also the first thing I look for when I check a bridal registry - it's my favorite gift. Maire

What color is your bedroom?

We prefer neutral colors which allows you to decorate with any color drapes, bedspread, pillows and rugs. Easier to change those than paint the whole room again. I also find them easier to live with for a long time. We had Navajo White before we changed to our current colors. Our bedroom is Kelley Moore Graystone and the other 2 bedrooms are Oyster. Bathrooms are Sandtrap and kitchen/ breakfast room is Leafy Lettuce. You could go with my sister's color palette who lives in southern Florida. A little too colorful for us. Wild Colors

What color are your stripes?
Q

Hi Gardentime. I like striped roses too and all of those you mention have become favorites. But let me say that if I lived in a cooler climate, like you do, I would want to grow stripes roses that don’t do well in my heat.... like the striped centifolias and gallicas. That being said... Peach Swirl is one of my favorites and I can’t wait for more people to grow it. This is a MUST have. Not sure how it would do in cooler climates, but here it’s been a star it’s first year, and it’s still blooming now. Here’s a bouquet from it that I used for Thanksgiving. Reverse time lapse... On the bush in November.... 100+F in summer... Spring... Mine are tall and wide (impressive size actually), but you may be able to prune it smaller if you want. Incredible fragrance. No disease. Substantial petals hold up to rain and heat here.

What color were your appliances in the 70’s?
Q

Sorry for the delay. I was at piano lessons with grandson. I have cabinets full of auto detailing supplies, but my favorite clean and seal products come from one company, Collinite. Here's my maintenance program for stainless steel appliances. This method is for quality stainless found on Samsung, Kenmore Elite, Bosch, LG, and Miele. Use a microfiber cloth for all steps. 1. Wash with warm soapy water, rinse and dry. 2. Apply an even coat of Collinite 840 Pre-Wax Cleaner. Work in small sections. Remove when dry. 3. Apply and even coat of Collinite Super Double Coat Paste Wax. Allow to haze and remove. Apply a second coat just like the first. 4. After 24 hours, the Super Double Coat will have cured. Put on your shades. To remove fingerprints, smudges, etc., wipe down the appliance with a damp microfiber cloth once a week, followed by a dry microfiber cloth. Takes some effort to achieve protection, but once a treatment will keep your appliance clean and shiny.

Antique white? It's a 3 year old house so it's all painted the same.

Mine is Benjamin Moore Abington Putty. It's a neutral, but it's slightly on the green side. I like it more than any neutral I've used for hallways.

This picture shows the tone of the paint the best.
