We all need to vent sometimes and even throw ourselves a pity party when things get us down. vent away, Kiddo, we, at the KT have broad, strong shoulders.

certainly not viewed as your having a pity party--but you certainly ARE having your share of crappy luck...so sorry for you--Hugs.

The Poor KT members.....everyone has strong shoulders it seems and this is an automatic place to come and unburden ourselves.

It seems an awful lot for your brother to take on, I'm not sure why he would want to do it all himself. Will he be responsible for selling the home as well?

Just sending good thoughts your way. One thing that has helped me is to not drink ANY cokes, decaffeinated drinks, and now chocolate. IBS runs in my family too. Lately I have noticed a problem with some of the instant meals that are so easy to fix. Might be the preservatives.

Jannie, if I were in your shoes every day would be a bad day. I admire you for being "up" and cheerful as you often are. I don't know how you do it. I have IBS, too. It's no biggie in the big picture of life. Just have to watch what triggers mine and keep Immodium on hand at all times. LOL! Marie-ndcal, you're right on with the preservatives. I really try to steer clear of them unless I plan to be home.

I still keep you in my prayers for a transplant soon. I'll just change it to include your whole family ;-)

Well, my problems don't seem so big at all now. Sorry, hope everything works out with the house and siblings and will keep fingers crossed for the transplant.

If your brother wants to do it by himself, the let him. There's nothing you can do but let it go.

My DD also has IBS, and there IS treatment. It's about changing your diet & lifestyle. I hope she contacts a dietitian. They can help her considerably.

I'm sorry I have to laugh at this...640 chairs!!!! Good Lord! How does one accumulate so many chairs?

But seriously, Jannie, goodness you do have a lot to handle right now. I'm sorry if it seems overwhelming. You don't need to figure it all out, but just get through it one day at a time. I'm glad you have a therapist to talk to. The KT is also a great place to come and talk or just vent, (but seems like you already know that!)

My MIL has Crohn's and it helped her in the beginning to keep track of foods she ate if she had flare-ups. Might help your DD identify her trigger foods?

(((Jannie))) Sorry, it does sound like you are dealing with a lot more than your fair share of problems.

There is a new treatment for autoimmune diseases called LDN (low dose Naltrexone). Very few if any side effects.. have your daughter look into it.

Sorry Jannie..Ive learned dont question anything just get up ,and fight like He&&..Thats all you can do.All stick together be each others extra leg to stand on.I know what you are saying.Ive been thinking about my life alot lately I know what you are saying.I dont have my mother anymore,my daughter out of the whole family is there for me when together we have a good time.Talking,helping each other out.You just need to fight.Be there for each other.If you want to talk Ill give you my email addy.

((Jannie) It DOES seem to come in multiples of problems sometimes, doesn't it? In the last eight months my mom has passed away, her and daddy's house got flood water in it, my DSIL was diagnosed with brain and lung cancer and has died, neighbors had to sandbag my DB and DSIL's house while she was going through treatments and now a $11,000 rice well pump went down last week. Sigh...........

Let it out Jannie, it helps a lot.You are an amazing woman who has a lot on her plate right now but you will get through it, one day at a time..

You're having a "bad day"??? My goodness; I'd be doing a lot more whining if I were you! Know this; you're an inspiration to a lot of people that are going through a whole lot less! My thoughts are with you....this is when I wish I could travel the country and help those in need! Hang in there!

I am so sorry you are going through so much, but believe me that God hasn't cursed you. Remember Job, who God loved--and all Job went through. When things get low for me, I take a deep breath and read "Footprints in the Sand". There have been so many times in my life that there was only one set of footprints in the sand. Hang in there, sweetie...it will get better.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU EVERYONE for your hugs and words of encouragement. I'm feeling much better today. My dog is fine today-I think she has a delicate stomach. I try to feed her only dog food, and then in small amounts, never cold. I plan to go with my daughter to her next doctor appointment and shee what can be done. Maybe a referral to a gastroenterologist?
I have to explain about the 640 chairs. It's kind of a funny story. Dad worked as a janitor the last ten years of his working life. He worked in Kleinhans Music Hall in Buffalo, a place where The Philharmonic Orchestra , rock groups, and other musicians would play concerts. Part of his job was to clean up after shows. He would come home with hats, scarves, pieces of jewelry (nothing expensive), sunglasses, even combs and brushes.
Barry Manilow played there once and left unopened bottles of wine in his dressing room so Dad brought them home.
Mom would make him throw out the combs and brushes, but she let him keep most of the stuff. From what I could figure, the Music Hall occasionally threw old chairs away, so Dad must have taken them out of the garbage. Why, I don't know, but he grew up in the Great Depression, where you never threw anything "good" out because it might come in handy someday. Dad passed in 1998 and Mom never got around to cleaning out his stuff. So when she died this January it fell to my brother to get rid of everything. I know my brother tried to donate the chairs but they were bent or rusty, so no one would take them. Just like all the expired food items he found in her cupboards. Would you like some General Foods International Coffee from 1991?

Jannie,I just want to add my hugs and encouragement. I have read a lot of your posts and you are an amazing person. You are always encouraging others on here, thinking about other people.
Re: your brother, for some reason he thinks he needs to be the one to do this. You all have offered to help, if he gets too overwhelmed maybe he will take you up on it.

As for your DD.. I have IBS too. Tell her to start keeping a food diary, and she will learn what triggers the symptoms. I found hat taking BEANO, (yes it actually works) when i eat some things like beans, broccoli, etc helps. I am also lactose intolerant. Has she been checked for that? That can cause terrible bloating and spasms. Lactaid helps, and lactose free milk. and yes a visit to the gastroenterologist is a great idea. So sorry about her dog too. Our pets are so precious to us.

Thanks again everyone who posted. Your encouragement means so much. I realize most of my problems are out of my control. I am basically optimistic, so I bounce back quickly. And I do look to God for help. He always answers.

One of my DDIL's was diagnosed with IBS, but it turnedo ut she really has Celiac's disease! She can't have anything with wheat in it. Not easy to live with, but doable.

Hi, Jannie. I am late reading this. I am sorry that you are going through such a rough time. If your brother wants to tackle the house by himself, let him! You certainly have enough on your plate. This may be his way of not letting you share the hassle.

I hope your kidney transplant comes soon. I hope they can diagnose your daughter's condition and that is is only a frustration and not life threatening. I am allergic to all citris and DH is allergic to all dairy, so we know what it is like to read the labels on everything. It can be done. I have other disabilities, but I'm not ready to give up, and I hope you don't, either.

Vent away. You're a brave lady and have every right. You have a good attitude. I wish I did. Things have not been good here since Thanksgiving. That's when my husband fell off the ladder to the highest roof, rolled on to the porch roof and fell off that breaking his back and puncturing his lung. He's had some problems related to that. Then the next month, a good friend went on a house tour with me on a Sunday and by Monday night she was in the hospital diagnosed with three inoperable brain tumors. The next month my best friend from 7th grade on thru out life died of Parkinson's. In May my healthy cat one day was dead the next. Then we had a bad storm, were with out electricity for 28 hours and in the first few hours most of my prize 20 year old koi died. But my problems aren't as bad as the things you must face and I feel very shallow for whining.

I feel shallow whining too. I had a terrible dialysis session Thursday. A needle fell out, there was blood, fainting and vomiting, but the wonderful nurses there helped me out and within an hour I walked out of there on my two legs and drove home, so it's all relative. I will go with my daughter to her next doctor appointment. I have a niece who can't eat gluten, so I know these things are generally treatable.
