Dragged the orange extension cords out of the garage and plugged in the hedge trimmers to shear the tall privet on the road side. It's over 25yrs.old and tall, have to keep it trimmed back or it grows out and over the road, plus makes it difficult for the neighbors to back out of their drive. I'm used to it but I don't want to cause trouble, their good neighbors. After I use the 24" shears up the sides and across the bottom, I have to get the pole trimmer and cut off the bigger branches way up.

Well, I knew the sky was getting dark but thought I could finish in time. The sprinkles started just as I got the pole trimmer out and was going at a good pace. At first I thought I could work through the rain drops but decided having three long extension cords spread along the wet grass might not be a good idea. Rolled it all up again quick and put everything away. I suppose the rain won't last long and it will get very hot. I'll finish another day this week, that is if I can stand the hedge in mid-shear.

Schoolhouse, I used to use a electric trimmer but the stupid cord would constantly come off. Finally broke down and bought a battery powered one. Like it much better even though the charge doesn't last very long. I need a pole trimmer!

I have to get out and clean the patio. Mike and Bobby are going to work on the pool this afternoon after Bobby gets out of work.

Our son is coming home from the Philippines and will be here for a week. Saturday is his 43rd birthday and I am having a surprise party for him. I don't remember when the last time was he had a BD party. We are going to grill steaks, baked potatoes in foil and two salads.

Our grandson, Matt, who was adopted; his parents and sister are coming from Tucson. They will be bringing the cake from Costco, which is near there house. Costco has the best cakes. Yum!!

Bobby and his girlfriend, Amber, will be coming too. It will be fun to have the whole family together. Shannon doesn't get to come home very often and the grands just love him to pieces.

So I need to clean the patio, Mike and Bobby are going to work on the pool this afternoon. Luckily my cleaning lady is coming on Thursday and also the yard people will be here tomorrow. I can relax this week instead of running around like a chicken with no head.

Sorry you've had rain while you're on vacation, but I guess it beats having to drive to work in it. You have so many projects going it makes me dizzy!! I had a feeling you'd have another exchange student this year. You've had pretty good luck and, hopefully, a boy will work out well, too. I didn't have any boy children, but people say they are much neater than girls. That'd sure be a treat!! :-)

Harry had to donate some of his blood for his INS test this morning, so I went with him. That about shot the morning (pardon the pun) since his appt. was at 10:30. It's quite a drive to get to the middle of town :-)

Came home and did a load of laundry. Wanted to take the newspapers to the recycle bin but it started raining. So now I'm just piddling around.

I started working at hoeing and weeding this morning. I was in the garden by seven. I came back in and had some breakfast and then went back out. Cheryl came and she is weeding and digging up some more of the potatoes. She wants to till up the two rows that had potatoes in them and plant more green beans. Later we came in and heated up leftovers for our lunch. Now she is back out working in the garden and I am doing up dishes and big pots and pans I didn't get washed up from our big meal yesterday. I had thought I would sew today since it is to be warm, but that hasn't happened. It is 91 outside right now and sometimes sunny and sometimes not. We may be canning some green beans later this week. Busy time of the year. I like being busy though, I am never bored.

Sorry about the noisy neighbors. Have you had a chance to meet them, maybe take them some cookies, and maybe ask them to lower the noise level? They might surprise you and do just that. I have a new neighbor and she has a cute, tiny dog, who woke me up this morning at 6:30, yapping. Seems like all the tiny dogs just yap, not bark. That is the second time it has done that, but I'm hoping it won't become a habit.

I watched the court proceedings this morning about the Aurora massacre. That is going to be a long drawn out case I think.

It is hot again today, but suppose to have more showers later. I'm still "down-sizing." Seems like there is no end to it. I have started piling up books, to take to our Valley Mission Thrift shop. It is right beside Kroger so that makes it convenient for me.

I get yard-work envy when y'all talk about weeding and hoeing and trimming and hedge clippers etc. I used to do all that. I had the long extension cords and electric clippers, and even had a battery powered chain saw. I loved doing all that. I googled the Jaw Saw and would definitely gotten that if it had been available back then.

It's raining and cool here today so a good day to do chores and indoor stuff. I had a hike planned but we scrapped that (I did a 2 hour run yesterday so I'm ok cancelling) I went to Cosco and picked up some stuff and then went to the library armed with a list of new authors as a result of a thread here and got 7 new books and am looking forward to reading them. Then on to Safeway for a couple of things and now home. Because it's so lousy out I think I'll bake some cookies and read new books.

I did a load of lights this morning, and after hanging it on the line, I started weed and Bermuda grass removal again. Stopped for a quick breakfast, and back out, and this time planted some green beans and cucumbers.

Finally had to come in and get cleaned up, as I was going to SAMS with a friend. I lost my card, and it was still in my married name. I really don't want to pay to get another.

After putting the groceries away I went back out to work in the yard.

Finally came in, got cleaned up for the second time, and ate lunch.

I wish, it would rain. It would lower my water bill. :)

Not sure yet, what I will do this afternoon.

Rain didn't last long, so since I was in the mood to work I decided to go back out and at least rake up the trimmings. Instead, I ended up dragging all three cords (plus a fourth when I got to the very end and need just a little more line) out again and the pole trimmer and finished up. By 3pm. it was getting pretty warm, and I was tired, time to quit before I started making mistakes. In some places there's only 3' between me and the road and altho most cars slow down and go wide, others zoom right on by.

It doesn't look too bad at all for an old hedge and an old trimmer (me), glad that's done. Now to rake up the mess, but I know THAT will wait until tomorrow.

Minnie, no, never heard of the jaw saw. I need to google it. Been using a hand saw because I can't get my stupid new chain saw started.

Yeah, Patti, don't know if all of them will get done. I cut a bunch of trees down...some not so small either. The big ones are laying in the yard right now and I'm gonna have to chop them up smaller to get in bags.

Sue, I miss my big garden. Wish I had planted something this year.

Moni, your talk of pulling grass makes my arms hurt. I tried yanking some weeds out there and I'm so week. I have no muscle anymore. Probably why I can't start that stupid chain saw......

We're supposed to have a chance of rain all week. I hope it doesn't because I want to finish the yard work. Also have that dresser to repaint.

My whole body hurts. I'm going back out tomorrow, hopefully before it rains. I can't believe it's going to storm again tomorrow. My next door neighbor...on the other side jumped over the fence to help me start my chain saw. He then cut down a bunch of stuff for me, which kind of made me feel bad because I didn't expect him to do that. He let me borrow a neat limb cutter thing. I'm going to buy myself one soon. It cuts pretty big stuff with little effort. So, now I have all these branches in my yard, we picked up and bagged some of it but still have to cut up a bunch more and bag. The neighbor told me he would haul it all off for us too. So nice to have good neighbors.
