Sounds like you had fun! DS is having a small porch sale today, mostly baseball cards and stuff, therefore we're stuck at home and can't do yard sales. Very humid here in WV, had a little rain.

I finally did it, one of the DGDS and I went to an estate sale and then to a 20 family yard sale...My DGD was after stuff for her apartment at school and I was along to give her money....I was kind of taken aback by the way the estate sale is handled...I have a hard time just going through a house and looking, touching, nebbing in evertthing....DGD didn't get anything but I did, 3 books @.25 cents each....Maybe this is just the start of many sales in the future....We might have unleashed a monster!

Bummer! I was looking forward to hearing about all the treasures you found. Sounds like Amber got some deals, though.

Irish, I feel the same way about estate sales. Rummaging through people's kitchen cabinets seem like such an invasion of their privacy, even if they're no longer with us. Went to one where I had known the couple. Her pride and joy was a mink stole her DH had surprised her with years ago. I can't tell you how many times my sister or I would pick it up off the floor where it was tossed like garbage.

I had a good day. Went to the flea market and bought a red enamel topped kitchen table with a leaf that pulls out on each side, for $150. Also a cool iron and stained glass lantern for outside. Also a fitz and floyd little covered dish that has a waterlily and frog on top and a turtle inside.

But, on the way, stopped at an estate sale and got a lot of stuff for very cheap. I got a Majolica pitcher for $2...super nice and old. Some old utensils for a dime apiece, cookie cutter, glass tube pan...like for angel food cake, a chenille bedspread that came in a blanket chest that I paid $5 for. I gave the chest to a friend, a hand carved wooden owl and various other old knick knacks that I plan to give to my daughter for ebay.

Didn't get to go today. We drove to Texarkana and picked up two of our GKs and then drove back home. We've been on the road all day!

Sounds like some peeps got some good deals. I can live through you vicariously, I guess! LOL

Marilyn c, you had a really good day. I love tables like you got and also Fitz and Floyd things. Sounds like we both like a lot of the same things! Maybe next week will be better for me. If weather permits, Amber is having a sale at her house on Saturday. So we won't be going then.

DH got new golf clubs for his birthday and was going to the practice range today to try them out.
I got a call from a woman who said my DH was at her house and wanted me to come there as soon as possible. It was a yard sale. She then let DH tell me where he was. It wasn't very far away and he was standing in the street looking for me. He found an old oak table and chairs (6) with a big leaf for it. Just what we have been looking for. It was only $50. We can't pick it up until Monday afternoon or Tuesday because we won't have a pick up truck. I am so happy!
DH went on to the golf course and on my way home I found another garage sale. I found the perfect purse thingy to replace my fanny pack for a dollar and then some candle holders (?) I liked. They were hollow all the way to the bottom so I am going to use them for bud vases. They were also a dollar and I asked the man to lower the price but he said he couldn't......sob story about how her was selling stuff for a old woman whose husband left her. (It was probably his wife.) LOL
It was a good day for me!

I quit shopping for goodies for GS when his mother left my DS :o(
