Hello everyone! Well, not much of an update, but was just checking in and thought I'd write a quick note. I am at my parent's house in MO right now, I had an interview on Friday in Springfield, MO. I didnt' feel like it went very well, but I'm looking at some other stuff, so hopefully something will pan out. Larry was not pleased that we (Bradley and I) came here for the interview, but I couldn't pass it up. I had applied for the job back in May.

I also wanted to post an email address, my dsis, Marley, that lost her daughter back in February is thinking about writing a book on the loss of a child. She has requested stories from anyone who has lost a child regarding the type of loss, how it was dealt with as well as how people dealt with special dates like birthdays and the anniversary of the death, etc. If you have lost a child or know someone who has, please feel free to email her or pass this info along. Hi Ginger! Good to get an update and to know you're looking forward to a new life in MO..wishing you all the best with your job search.

I've lost two children and have a lot I could offer your sister, I guess. My first DD died in 1962 and my second DD in 2000..both still very difficult to live with..no matter how many years go by, the 'special dates' are still a struggle for me. Sometimes I can get out of the house on those days; sometimes, I just need to be alone with my feelings.

Stay positive, Ginger; you're going to okay.

Hiya, Ginger! It's great to see you and get an update. I think Bradley is perfectly adorable and can't believe how big he's gotten. What a cute and funny kid. I think you're amazing to put your happiness aside to keep an intact family for him, I know that has to be hard sometimes, but I really respect you for it. And great job, arrrrggg, on the pirate quilt, how cute is that?! Woody and I have pirate pillowcases that we take to FL on our vacations, about 4 miles from your Clearwater Beach pirate cruise. :)

mcpeg, I'm an American and certainly take no offense to your concern and I would agree totally if in your position. That said, I should add that I have problems with all the people coming here for free health care too. People come from Mexico to have children here to be covered by US care at taxpayer expense and to the detriment of other citizens. I don't think that's right. Our state has a more lenient welfare system than many others and we get busloads of people who come in for a weekend to make claims, collect payments and go home. I don't mind helping out, but I don't like being taken advantage of. The problem of course is the laws of our respective countries and states/provinces. Just like the US is too stupid to tax actors who make millions and have their residency elsewhere, including Canada ;) (Dan Akroyd, Michael J. Fox, Adam Sandler, etc) and pay no taxes here. I don't think that's right either. But we have a dyslexic dimwit in the, well, I won't get into politics, not appropriate. But I do think you are justifiably concerned about it and I for one, share your dissatisfaction, and you needn't be sorry for feeling that way.

I would assume a lot of the delay to US market has to do with the UL and other specifications that have to met to be sold in the US. I also find that Miele makes some changes to “upgrade” their design. An example is their 30 convection oven with Moisture Plus. When I was shopping this feature outside the US used a “straw” that sucked water from a glass of water to charge the oven for steam but the US version required a water line with no manual intervention. The positive is once it hits the US you know it has been somewhat tested in other markets. Yes - we seem to be one of the last markets to be able to purchase their “new” technologies.

Thank you, @eld6161! I couldn't find your name in the thread, so I'm glad you posted. That is a really cool rug--the three colors together are perfect. The only question I have is whether it might look commercial-ish, being so flat (?). I love that it is wool, my preferred rug material! While I don't want to layer multiple small rugs in that small space, maybe getting a full-sized version of this one, and layering a smaller rug on top would work...?

Good thoughts and prayers for you Ginger. I know how hard it is to go through what you are going through. You do what you have to do to make a safe, and happy life for you and Bradley. Prayers you find a good job, that'll work in all areas.

Please send me an e-mail, and I'll forward it on to my sister. She lost her daughter nearly 6 years ago, age 29 to cancer. My niece left a grieving husband and 2 little boys ages 3 & 6. Luckily, a couple years + after her passing, we convinced our baby sister to come back to our state for a blind date. They hit it off big time and have been happily married a couple of years now.
