A couple of interesting things about the Revitol spammer: The acne product apparently being promoted is listed as having one active ingredient - benzoyl peroxide. Apart from not being herbal, it's the same agent sold in lots of over the counter products. They list a bunch of "inactive" ingredients, including some plant extracts (and decidedly non-herbal sounding things like methylpropanediol). Why sell a supposedly natural product if all the "natural" ingredients are listed as inactive? The herbsncures site linked to by the Revitol spammer makes the following statement: "Allopathic medicine is the conventional western medicine that aims at producing a certain condition in the body which is completely opposite to the bodily condition under the influence of a disease...Although, allopathic medicine provides instant relief but it comes along with some mild to severe side-effects. Besides allopathic medicine does not provide permanent cure as it does not work on the root cause of the disease but on the effects produced by the disease." You're supposed to get the idea that the products they promote are an "alternative" to nasty old allopathic medicine. Except they all seem to be allopathic treatments as well, only with a lot more inactive ingredients. Evidently "allopathic medicine" has gotten to be a catch-all term for "Western medicine" and is used as an all-purpose putdown. What the phrase's users don't realize is that herbalism, as well as most of the "dietary supplements" on the market are just as allopathic as "Western" pharmaceuticals - they're aimed at countering the signs and symptoms that plague disease sufferers. The opposite of "allopathic" is homeopathic - a practice that supposedly ameliorates disease by giving you an extremely diluted dose of something that causes the same symptoms (but is basically just water). The vast majority of supplements and agents like Revitol have in common with homeopathic drugs that they're ineffective for what they claim to treat, but the resemblance stops there.

Hello everyone! I feel back in the groove! Drinking lots of liquids and counting every point, down the 1/2 point!! Only used 4 flex points this week. Have a luncheon meeting where the agenda states "pizza and wings". Pooh! I brought in a zip-lock bag of celery and cherry tomatoes to have before I go in (or I'll bring it along). One slice of that pizza they serve is 6 points, so I should be OK. Had 2-points of yogurt for breakfast, and I also brought a 1-point banana for later this afternoon (before my exercise class). On the pampering front, I've not gotten to it yet, but tonight, I plan to give myself a pedicure while watching the final American Idol show. (OK, I'll admit that I watch it!) Two years ago, DH gave me one of those wax machines that you put your hands or feet into...I'm gonna use that before my polish. Then before I go to bed, I'll put on heavy foot cream and cotton socks so that I am ready for sandals this year! Hoping that with my weight loss, I can start getting prettier shoes that have a younger look!! Gotta run and take this phone call. Why does business get in the way of my stuff? LOL!!!

Today I went to Trader Joe's - haven't been there since very early coronavirus days. Limited to 30 people inside but there was only one person in line when I arrived. I can see why the limit as even with that you had to make a considerable effort to stay six feet away from people which everyone was trying to do. This is the first time I've been grocery shopping where every person I saw, except one, was wearing a mask. I think it may be the TJ clientele and/or the size of the store because when I went to Target across the street it wasn't like that - just a few masks. One woman and her child without masks walked right next to me in spite of a large, wide open aisle that would have allowed her to keep her distance. She seemed oblivious to the whole idea. I didn't go out quite as early today but I still found everything I was looking for including a package of disinfecting wipes and a bottle of hand sanitizer - limit one of each at Target. I noticed they had some different brands of disinfectant spray - brands I've never seen before. May be that some company that used to make something else is now making this stuff.

John the scallops look amazing, I LOVE scallops and haven't had any in a long time, I ought to go see if I can find some. They'll definitely be frozen, I never find fresh ones here in Michigan, but they would do. Oh, Jasdip, the bread looks perfect, and the hamster made me smile. The kids used to have those, they're cuter in pictures. (grin) OK, I'm off to start a new thread, I have pictures because I bought Elery a sous vide device for our anniversary... Annie
