The tide pool was at Lincoln City at Spanish Head. My daughter in law the Marine Bilogist sent me this (TMI!) after I asked her about it: The star fish are common purple stars (Pisaster ochraceus). They can be other colors like orange depending on where they live. Ones exposed to a lot of waves and surf action are generally orange, where ones in protected calm waters are generally purple. Sea stars can be stacked together. They slowly move to engulf their food (prey like clams, mussels, and oysters) so you may have just caught them traveling to more food. They are not stationary creatures. They are really gross when they eat too. Sea stars slowly pull shells open and then throw their own stomachs into the shellfish. They eat and digest shellfish right inside of the shells and it can take a couple of days to occurs.

My daughter and her husband are going canoeing, while the kids are at day care, and I drive the van to the end point. this is where we will come out again about to put it in the water I think, we need to head out like this there they go coming back loading up

Those little tin men with the rolling pin are so busy. The cookies look good enough to eat. Someone is very talented. Go tell them how the KTs all over the world enjoyed seeing this.

Nicole, are you kidding? Colorado must have some pretty lizards somewhere. And really the Western Fence lizard is probably the most colorful I've come across. We called them blue-bellies when I was a kid. The Alligator lizards and a small bronze skink-like lizard are pretty prevalent in the area and we've found a number of the little bronze lizzies in the house. They are very skittish, very fast and stay low, not climbers like the blue bellies. When Casey_nfld came to visit a few months ago I took her on a short hike where she saw her very first lizard in the wild. I was hoping to find her a bob cat because there are pretty common around here as well. I'll post another pic tomorrow. Jodi-
