I don't know anything about this diet, but Kate sure doesn't look like she needed to lose anything.

Here's WebMD's review of the Dukan Diet. As the review states, the diet is strongly reminiscent of the original Atkins Diet. The key difference is that Dukan specifies lean protein, whereas Atkins allowed all sorts of fats, including bad ones (not a good idea). Also, Dukan adds oat bran and some exercise, both good additions.

I've had a lot of experience with low-carb eating. When my diet was at its most limited, with an emphasis on lean protein, my kidney blood test results were abnormal. I felt fine, and the doctor didn't seem worried.

Low carb diets don't work well for me.. I'd skip this one, but I do see how someone would lose weight following the plan.

Yikes. That doesn't sound healthy at all. Avoiding starch and refined carbs is always a good idea but that much protein seems dangerous. Also, no fruit until "stabilization" seems like a bad idea. I can see how people will lose weight but it's not due to it being a healthy diet, but rather people's inability to eat vast quantities of meat.

IMO you'll see better results with unlimited fruits and veggies, legumes, and some complex carbs on occasion. No white flour, white rice, sugar, or grains other than 100% whole wheat or sprouted wheat and even that in moderation. Make sure to eat some plant-based fat like avocados but minimize salt and oil. The weight will fall off rapidly if you follow this - I guarantee it, and you won't be malnourished like you can be in high protein diets. People think that because they eat a lot, they aren't malnourished but you certainly can get that way if you don't ingest ample amounts of produce a day to get all of the vitamins and minerals.

I think people eat too much protein. We've morphed into a protein-obsessed country. The only protein I eat is sourced from leafy greens and beans and my blood levels are perfect.

Just my advice. :) I hope you find what works for you. Diets are a very personal decision.

This is the initial phase in which you only consume proteins for anywhere from 3, 5 or 7 days depending on the amount of weight you want to loose.
Then you go onto the next phase where you do the recommended veggies and proteins.
It works extremely well I've lost a pound in just 1 day. I am happy and most unbeleivably I am not hungry at all after I eat. Works for me so far.

Most quick weight loss diets make you lose water, not permanent fat cells. Messing with your metabolism and becoming dehydrated is dangerous. Better to eat a balanced diet and exercise. When I was a teen, I dieted on hard bolied eggs and grapefruit. I was losing a pound a day. Left me both starving and weak, and when I went back to normal eating and drinking, I gained all the weight back.
