Ouch! That can range from downright painful to irritating. This probably is not the same, but during cataract surgery, somehow my cornea was scratched. It was so uncomfortable, I went back to the Eye Dr and she put what she called was a contact lens bandaid, and there was immediate relief. It was left in for about 5 days. I sure hope yours heal fast,Susan on.

My son had an abrasion on his eye- he was hit with a tennis ball - the opthamologist prescribed eye drops and it healed quickly.

When I wore the old hard contact lenses, I scratched my cornea many times. Very painful, but only for a few hours.

From what you said, I don't think it's a scratch...i'd go to my ophthalmologist(am MD) if I were you.

I have had one and you need to see an eye doctor. Mine gave me a prescription for an ointment probably an antibiotic. If you get an infection in one eye it can quickly spread to the other.

You need to get it looked at. I've scratched my eyes a couple of times where I had to wear a patch over the eyes. It healed in just a few days. I believe my doctor said the eyes are one of the fasted healing body parts.

If it's "been a few days" I think you ought to have someone look @ it. If it is a scratch it could get/be infected. That would not be good. I don't know if it is in every state but in Ohio optometrists can also Rx eye drops. Oh, but you're in Canada, so yes go see ~someone.

See a Doctor. A scratch on an eye can easily get infection and that can very easily spread to the other and you can be blinded by eye infections. Yes Now Go asap to an ophthalmologist not an optician. It the mean time, DON'T rub it! Don't keep spreading your eyelids trying to see whats there or ease the pain. Let the tears flow as they will. DON'T wipe your eyes

About 6 or 8 yers ago, I was trimming bushes and removed my glasses for a moment to get a better look at what I was cutting and that's when I was stuck in the eye with a small limb. I have to say that was one of the most painful things ever.

Immediately went to the emergency room, where they put dye in it and it was scratched. They put medications in it, patched it up and sent me home. This was on a weekend.

On Monday, I went to my opthamologist. I was given Muro 128 5% to put in it each night at bedtime. He said it would draw the water out of my eye to the surface. I did this for about 6 months. I think I was given other drops or ointment for daytime but don't remember what it was.

Occasionally it still gives me problems and is tender.

My husband , when he was a kid, poked his eye on a stick on a bush. He healed up fine without medical treatment. One summer I was having terrible allergies.My eyes were driving me crazy. I rubbed my eye so much my eyelid actually swelled shut over my eye. I was really frightened, went to my GP who gave me a prescription for eyedrops. It took a couple of weeks but I recovered. Now when I get summer allergoes I use eyedrops prescribed by my eye doctor (opthamologist). I've been told the eyes heal very quickly.

A couple days ago a neighbor told me about having a problem with a painful eye. She went to an optician, who wisely sent her to an ophthalmologist.

She had an eyelash in her eye. He removed it, and gave her a RX for eye drops.

Our eye problems are not something we want to fool around with.

I've had a sratched cornea twice - no mistaking it: severe pain, tearing, swelling but quick healing.
I'd really see a doctor, your vision is too important to take a risk on. In the meantime, you may find some relief in the artifical tears - Sustain is one brand with no preservatives. (My eye Dr. says the preservatives can cause a reaction and should be avoided.)

I, too, used to wear hard contacts. I had scratched corneas a few times. Alot of irritation and tearing. Your eye heals very quickly, though. If that's what you have, then you'll be fine. You might want to check with your eye doctor, though, if it's not better in a couple of days.

Don't even wait. Get to any doctor who can write you a prescription.

I doubt you've scratched your eye--from the people I've known who had that, the pain is excruciating. I don't think you'd have been able to wait around for a few days.

However, if you've got something going on that's lasted a few days, you need to go to an OPTHALMOLOGIST (optometrists are NOT medical drs., if it's anything that needs medical treatment, they'd have to refer you anyway.)

Your eyes are nothing to mess around with--get a pro to see what's going on and treat it so you feel better and save your eyesight. Good luck, hope you feel better soon.
