Thanks again. I have to admit that I was kind of upset with the monovision for the first day as my eyes felt so strained by the difference. I thought I had made a real mistake by going that way rather than both for distance. Now my brain is beginning to "get it" and I am more satisfied every day with the result. Some of my friends had told me cataract surgery "Was nothing." It's not nothing, believe me. The actual procedure was a piece of cake, but learning to see differently takes time. There is a learning curve, for sure.

I was so happy to see this post; I quit smoking with the aid of Chantix after only 12 days. It has made a huge change, for the positive, in my life. I can look back now (it's been a year and a half) and see that smoking was really a mental thing...in my head. Those times when you think you'd "like" a cigarette will pass quickly if you tell yourself in your head that "I don't do that anymore". It reminds me of how Tony Robbins says that once you make a "real" decision and stick to it you know all the other things it takes to make that decision come true. Many times when I've thought I'd like a cigarette what I really needed was a break. Just to sit down and take a break or have a snack or walk away from what I was doing. I was substituting a cigarette from just a break in general. I think you are making that connection now. If you can only be mentally aware of that as your body is getting used to getting the nicotine out of its system you will be a winner. And I hope I'm not offending any smokers but I really do feel good about myself when I see others going outside in the freezing weather or rain to have a smoke. Or having to run to the store because they're out of cigarettes. I'm done with that! I wouldn't even bother counting the days or months but I happen to know it was just before Christmas last year. It's not important how many days....I just know that I dont do that anymore. And I really sincerely wish this success for you also. Please keep posting! BTW, I am diabetic too!

I do have some good news. Even though we were not able to raise all the money needed for surgery the dog has received some therapy and drum roll please.......just got word this morning that during water therapy all four legs moved. So even though the dog is not able to run around like normal it does have some movement. So everyone is very hopeful. But I was told once by a vet that once your dog shows signs of disc disease then be prepared because at some point it will have to have surgery. I can't speak for the vet of this person's dog, but I would assume they are saying the same thing. I haven't talked to the owner regarding this. But it is great news. And just because a dog goes down in their back is no reason to put them to sleep. This person's vet told them that was their option. There is always the carts or "doggie wheelchairs" as I sometimes call them. Dogs using these carts run around and play and have a good time. I can't understand why vets do not give that as an option. And people can get the plans on the internet and build their own, if the can't afford to buy one. Thank you all for being concerned and for your suggestions.

Great that you have good reports, Glenda. I hope that the healing goes well with no complications. I haven't heard "hunky dory" in many years, that I can recall - perhaps since I heard Dad use it when I was a kid. I spent little time with Dad after I left home at about 19 ... just before his second marriage, though that didn't have a connection. ole joyful
