My Uncle is fighting cancer.... Facebook help please

My Uncle Bill has lymphoma. He found out today that all of the chemotherapy hasn't been helping. Today his doctor sent him to the hospital to start Salvage Chemotherapy. I looked it up, and it is disheartening.

Just recently he became one of the administrators of a Facebook group called God Answers Prayer. He has asked us all to send an invitation to all of our friends. He would like to see this group grow. He mentioned hoping to see 350 members by this weekend. I don't know that its possible because right now there are just 217 members.

This has really been tugging at my heart. I would absolutely love for him to return from the hospital and see a large increase in members. I thought to come to my KT friends for help as I know many of you are on Facebook.

If you have never joined a group on Facebook and it sounds intimidating, please don't worry. You don't have to post or contribute if you don't want to. If you'd like to however, that is more than fine as well.

If you don't have a Facebook page, please add him to your prayers or send special thoughts or both.

Wow, thanks everyone. Man you all are amazing! I didn't mean to make people cry! It was a little weird for me to realize that my best friend is the same age as my mom was when she died! I talked to granny yesterday, she wants me to read a poem at my mom's 'memorial' on Saturday. I guess I will, I've never been able to say no to her! I'll post back and let you know how Saturday goes. I hope I remember to get a picture of me with granny to post here. Dcarch, who knows if I will lose weight now or not. I have a sense of humor about it and I'm happy with myself... I'm not out to impress anyone. If I do, great, and if not, I'll be happy anyway. I think I love food too much to be very skinny. And yes, Annie is right... I LOVE vacuums. Here's a Youtube video of my collection :o) I made this to show other vacuum and appliance collectors (yes, there's a club for that too).... You'll have to excuse the messy place! I've gotten two more since I made the video!

i wish i could hold you and comfort you. there are no words adequate to express my deep sorrow for your loss. i, too, lost my husband, my best friend, the light of my life, to cancer. at this point, you are still in shock, denial. you know he's gone but you are not ready to accept it. i can only tell you it takes time. your grief, like my own, will never go away but it will get "different", more tolerable, as time goes on. i wish there were words that would help but i know there are none. OK ladies...I need some help here. I am not married, but have been in a relationship for 14 months and we live together. I have had a problem in the past of sending suggestive messages to women online. Recently I sent a message to a girl I knew from a bar that I used to go to alot. Haven't seen this girl in probably 2 years or more maybe and were just friends and not very good friends at that. One day while she was away with her daughter at a gymnastics meet, I sent a suggestive message...which was never answered...My GF has looked through my phone on several occasions looking at who I talk to (when we first started seeing each other I was chatting with an old friend I hadnt seen for 20 years...I was very wrong in what I did there and it stopped well before she ever found it on my phone) I have messaged friends and said things that she thought suggestive and I should have worded my responses better. for instance, a friend was at a bar drinking and instead of saying as she says, I am with mhy GF I can't, I said wish I cold join you, but maybe another time. I honestly didnt mean anything by that as we had only been friends and that was it. another instance was I am in fantasy football and one of my leagues there is a girl, a friend for over 2 years and she has been seeing a friend of mine. she was new to the sport last few years and often texted me for advice. Once week while I was going to play versus her team, I reponded 'I'm gonna eat you up" - I am a former semi pro footbal player and that's just how trash talk goes...meant nothing suggestive at all...in hindsight, I now see that maybe my responses could have been much different. the message the day of the gymnastics meet was back in October...I haven't done anything since then but she still constantly monitors my facebook messaging. I honestly have not been chatting with anyone at all. I rarely even get on there at all. she see my messnger getting logged into and will send me messages to see if I will respond. sometimes I never get them because I am not even on there, or I will get them much later and respond to her. I just thought that my chat being logged in on FB was the reason. come to find out it is the Messenger App that has always been logged into on my conmputer and on my phone....I NEVER use it..but because of the thing last Oct...she doesnt believe anything I say and is even questioning a long lunch I had with my boss where we we drinking...which is what I told her I was doing. Please, please what can I do...she is going to leave me and she is newly pregnant with my child and I love her so much..I need help to try and get her to let me back in and re-gain her trust.. I am just lost and so sorry for all I have done wrong to her. but I really do love her and want to Marry her. I have been true to her 100% except the messages I spoke of and maybe a few others that I unintentionally said the wrong thing.... HELP!!!

HuntersMom and Obelisk: My sincere condolences. I have loved cats all my life and have been where you are many times. My present cats will soon be 18 and 16 years of age, and of course, I worry every time one of them gets constipated or refuses to eat. I guess we always hope that our babies will die at home with us there, but sometimes the choice falls on the owners. The only consolation is how much we and they filled each other's lives with love and joy and the fact that we are able to keep them happy until the end because we outlive them. HuntersMom: Like you, when I find myself catless, sooner or later, I get a new cat. I consider that it is like a tribute to the ones that are gone that they made me so happy that I want to give another cat a home. Sometimes I cry over a cat that died long ago, but at the same time, when one dies, the new one(s) help ease the pain. I hope and feel sure that your new kitten will do that for you after your dear Daisy's death. You did well to keep her going those extra months and to help her enjoy the time. Obelisk: I understand your feelings, too. Many people feel the way you do. You have been through a horrible experience that came upon you all unexpectedly. I am so sorry for your loss, and especially because you apparently didn't get to share your cat's life for many years, the way it should be. One of my favorite cats died of kidney trouble at only 4&1/2. Kittymom: I'll be looking for your new post and will post something there. I'm so sorry about William of Orange. (What a delightful name for a cat of his color!)

I'm not sure what kind it is Kat. Thank you for joining though. I know that he has been fighting it for a couple of years now.

My mother in law just put an update there about him. This is what she wrote: Update on Bill Willis.......dr told angie that his chest and lungs are full of cancer....hemoglobin is low which may be a sign of bleeding somewhere. The chemo that they are going to start shortly is very toxic. He'll have to have a large dose because of his size. He has an appt at cleveland clinic friday to consult about a bone marrow transplant. I'm believing for a miracle.

I really can't tell you how much this hurts. This man is absolutely AMAZING. When DH and I were just dating as teens it was this Uncle who treated me like I was family immediately. Hes the person who is first in line to help others in need. The one who is sick with cancer but out first thing in the morning after a snow storm shoveling driveways for his friends and neighbors. The kind of person who lights up a room when he walks in it.

I am so worried about him. My heart is just hurting.

Heather my heart goes out to your uncle and family.I am watching my DFIL go thur brain cancer,seizures and radation and die a painful slowly death.They gave him now around 1 month to 2months but only the good man up stairs know.No matter what happens it hurts to see a love one battle cancer.Like I posted before I watched my own dear dad DIE the age 57 and it is very hard.I pray things will get better for yall.HUgs Judy

Sounds like the Drs haven't completely giving up hope. About a year ago I signed up for the bone marrow registry. It had been nagging at me for a while to just do it and quit making excuses. Heading to Facebook now to join the group. I don't have an account, but Sparky does!

Heather though I'm taking a break from facebook to get caught up on things around the house and to work on my health by getting up from the computer more often, I took time to join your uncles group. I also scrolled down and clicked on "share" so I could invite all my facebook friends.

Thank you!!!! We were out of town today at a picnic that Uncle Bill was VERY much looking forward to but was unable to attend.

They started his Chemotherapy at about 6:00 Saturday night. It is supposed to last for 24 hours, I think thats what my mother in law said. She said that right now they are thinking he will be able to return home on Tuesday so we have a few days to get the membership count up higher.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for your encouraging words and just taking the time to do this for him. I can't tell you how much this means to me. :)

Uncle Bill was able to come home from the hospital today. He will return in 3 weeks to do it again. He says he is feeling better already and he didn't even get sick from the massive dose of chemo they gave him, which completely floored his doctors and nurses!! :)
