Personnaly I think it would be too dark and would fade into the red walls and become "invisable" so to speak. I would probably get a love seat the same color as your freize.

I love the colors you've chosen for this room.

Patti, I have a purple microfiber loveseat, but it will live in the someday-to-be-painted-sage livingroom.

I should be dreaming, too. The fireworks are keeping Harry wired, so I'm still awake.

Karen, I'm afraid you might be right about the invisibility. I'm hoping they'll let me "borrow" the loveseat for a short test-drive and photo session.

I'd like to see it. I think it could work, but it would have to be just the right red. What color is your flooring? I think the sofa and wall in the same color could be really nice, but I wonder about walls, sofa, and woods being all dark. I can sort of picture it with some lighter sand color and maybe one other complimentary color distributed in the room bringing it all together. I think it would be predictable to have the sand colored sofa in there, kind of the obvious choice. Unless you found an amazing sofa in the sand color and needed the dark walls to help it stand out. Just bring down the color with pillows and art.

The floors are a medium oak. They're original to the 1965 house; we've scrapped, sanded, stained, and finished them. They were killers.

Here's the floor right after it was finished. Obviously, nothing else is completed. The walls are darker than they show in this photo.

Ooooh your floors are pretty. I think you should at least see if you can try out (borrow) a red sofa. Sounds like it would be a rich, yummy office.

caroline, I think the dark red leather would be smashing in that room. It is past time to tell you that I love, love everything you have been doing to your house. I have really enjoyed your pictures. If I were able or if I could get DH to cooperate my blah off white rooms would be bold colors, with mouldings placed like you have done. When your done there, want a job?

I love the office, but do you think you'll be able to get JUST the right red sofa? And I think you'll need a rug just for noise control and dog toenails/clicking. lol

I think you'd have a very, very hard time matching a leather sofa to that paint.

I love red walls and red sofas... but have to agree with Nookie. I think the sofa would just fade into the wall color.. how about a red/beige print or stripe for the sofa?

Ohhh...Flamingo and Alisande, I'm in big trouble! I have found the perfect color and texture match, in a red loveseat. It could completely disappear. LOL It's leather, but not the smooth, glossy leather. It's soft and "nubbly."

Flamey, I originally bought the purple loveseat to go in the sage-green (Key Lime Pie) living room on base. The two colors are perfect together but it's the "wrong" purple to go with the "Lilac Vapor" sewing room. Even so, I had to use that particular shade of paint. So...the living room here is going to be KLP-sage too, and the purple loveseat will stay in its original spot.

I'm going back to the furniture store today to see if I can borrow a cushion or something to play with the colors against these walls.

I plan on using a large oriental-type carpet in here. Big enough to take care of noise, but I'll still have a lot of the floor showing. Harry has been floor-surfing ever since we removed the heavy paper. He runs down the hallway, braces himself, and s-l-i-d-e-s into each of the rooms. He's learned to keep his legs stiff and lean to "steer" his direction. He thinks it's great fun. We figure the soon he scratches the floors the better.

Lydia, I'm considering a red-beige print, too. DH wants a mission-style dark wood and leather. That's nice, but it's not "me." I've not ruled that out either, since it is more his room than mine. And it means I'd get free reign in the livingroom!

I think red might disappear against the walls. I would either match the ceiling in beige or get a really rich chocolate brown leather couch.

I also think the right art behind the sofa would subdue the wall color.

Don't forget I'm the one with the Purple Kitchen. LOL!

Sorry, I didn't realize the sofa will be in the corner. I'd still hang art over the sofa. You could hang it on a chain (like I did my Stain Glass) at a angle. A plant in back of the sofa would help too.Gayle

"The ceiling and freize is a bone/sand color." I'd probably want to have the loveseat in the same bone/sand color and pick up the red in the throws, or accent cushions on the sofa. I love that red, it's beautiful! I also like the combination of the red and sand together. Very good choice. The moldings and hardwood flooring just make that room Caroline. I'm going to have to look up the other rooms I've missed. Can't wait to see what you do with this one when you're through furnishing it.

Does it have to be a plain color, how about a print of some sort with red in it and also the creamy/tan? There are so many tapestry prints or brocades.....just thinking.
