Not any longer. As a young mom, I had them everywhere. Watering was a real chore.

I have a dozen or so. I love real plants (artificial are nice too), and I think they make a home homey. Most of friends do not have plants, but they mentioned liking mine. I don't have the greenest thumb. I am lucky my husband remembers to water them, but I do take fairly good care of them.

Yes I have a few: 4 Christmas Cacti, 2 Bird Nest Ferns, one I have forgotten the name of and a huge schefflera, a pothos & an african violet that is on the way out...

No houseplants.

DH loves houseplants and I do not. I don't mind one large plant...say a potted palm...in a room, but a lot of little plants (like DH likes) is just clutter to me.

I always have a few in the house. Now I have a palm, pothos, peace Lilly and one other. Our climate is mild enough that some can survive fine outside, so outside live the Christmas cactus, variegated schefflera, rubber plant.

I have one very large and old jade plant.

I have houseplants EVERYWHERE!!! WAY too many African Violets to count -- it's mostly AVs... but I also have tons of christmas cactus in all colors, easter cactus, crown of thorns in different colors, various ivies, philodendrons, scheffleras, snake plants, aloes, weeping figs, dracenas, spathaphyllum, weeping figs, purple heart, spider plants, begonias, jades, etc. etc. etc. I love plants! I definitely have a green thumb.

I have 2 very old spiders that have multiplied, over and over and also a very old Shamrock, that I keep outside in the summer and bring in for the winter...I have a cat that thinks the plants are for her to play with and eat, so I have to be careful what I have.....

I love plants and have two in my new apt. One I won at a program, some sort of vine and the other a beautiful orange begonia my DD gave me for Mother's day and still blooming. When I went to CA a friend of mine baby sat the plants in her ""garden"" and they did great. Would like to have more but limited on space.

I used until we got cat's they ate the plants~~I could not have fresh flowers in the house either. our girl cat would go crazy wrap herself around the vases and several got broken. I also am a killer of plants. We have no more kitties, so I have been thinking of getting a few. Hope they live;)

Only two. A large philodendron (ivy) and a large aloe.

I always have a few that live on my front porch and back patio during the summer. When winter comes, I try to bring in a few and keep the rest on a screened porch covering them on colder nights. The extreme cold this past winter thinned out the herd--mostly several kinds of ginger. I am left with a dragon wing begonia and a philodendron that were my mother's, an arrangement that includes a diffenbachia, parlor palm and arrowhead plant that was a retirement gift, a citronella plant and a jade plant. I dislike houseplants in general--too messy--but sometimes spend the whole day pampering my inground perennials.

Tons!!!! Epis....several varieties. Red emerald, several of those. Wandering jew, swedish ivy, x-mas cactis, monkey tail cactus, jade, spotted squill, yucca cane, cyclamen, orchids, hoya, fiddle leaf fig, 2 pointsettias, brugmansia.....I'm sure I've left some out.....lol

and I did throw out a couple a few weeks ago....

I do, but not as many as I used to keep. My now house has a very deep overhang all the way around its single level. So much better to keep sun directly off furniture (rain off me, I can get all the way around my house outside without getting wet), not quite as friendly to some of my plants so I've gotten rid of several that had been very happy under E facing skylights and close to W facing carpet-sofa-drapery ruining W huge windows ;)

I do still have cast iron plant/aspidistra, two coffee trees, prayer plants, 5 chirita on a tray here in my office, a gift African violet and gift orchid. They need about 30-40 minutes attention a week and that's enough.

I keep one small colorful 'whatever' (currently an AV) in the center of an artificail greens arrangement on our kitchen table. My asthma doesn't like the soil part of living plants, and pollen makes me sneeze.

In the winter we keep the outdoor plants in the basement. Does that count as houseplants? So if it does my answer would be yes if not my answer would be no. lol They are mostly rubber plants, geraniums a few others that would be considered house plants.

I do. I have a philodendron that is a derivative of a plant I had as a teenager. I have a spider plant that my DD gave me seventeen years ago. I have another that my oldest DD bought when she was a college student in Wisconsin. These three plants are important to me.
I have others as well but are not attached to them.

I inherited two large fiddle leaf figs from the previous owner. I haven't killed them yet although I've come close a few times. I have potted herbs on my deck. They usually die when I am away at Christmas, but I keep them alive the rest of the year and use them in my cooking.

I have no plants in the house - all are in the greenhouse, Florida room or outdoors.

I have serious mold and mildew allergies so doctor told me years ago no houseplants. I have some fairly upscale silk plants throughout the house to add some life in the form of green but nothing with dirt. Because of my allergies I cannot go into used bookstores or old movie theaters without my eyes swelling. I love books! It's torture. If I know I'm going to be near a used bookstore, I'll take a benedryl and power through a visit. :-)

I think live plants add a warmth and depth to a home. I do have some, but not overboard. I don't care for artificial plants myself and wouldn't have any, but have seem some that look nice.

Nope, not anymore! I overburdened myself with them for years, including an outdoor bonsai collection. One day, I woke up and decided to get rid of everything!

Luckily, I belonged to a local bonsai club and once those peeps knew that I was serious and couldn't be talked out of it, they organized an auction, which included the nicer indoor plants, too. They wouldn't hear of me giving them away....but I did make them take bonsai supplies, pots, etc.

It was such a relief to have everything go! My house felt so much lighter without those window hogging plants.

I have sort of been considering an orchid or two, but suspect any plant would end up victim to my cat.

I started buying a few last year because I can't work in the flower beds. I really like the one called mother in law's tongue. I have several varieties. I can't seem to kill it. LOL I found a watering routine that seems to suit them. I put 5 oz of water on the 6 inch pots every Friday and a couple of other plants I water in the middle of the week. Beware of buying Miracle grow potting soil. A nursery man told my neighbor their company has a serious gnat problem. He was right, I bought some and now I have a gnat problem in my home. I love the rich color of the tall one on the left.

In my pre-pet life I did, but now with three rabs and two catties, no.. I'd rather not have to worry. Or scold.

Agree with Suzieque that live plants add warmth and depth to a home. They soften the hard edges of furniture and fill-in awkward, empty spaces. To me a house is not a home without a few good plants - especially a graceful Boston fern!

Thanks to all of you that posted your stories....I'm hoping to keep these six alive and away from the peke.

I have a few I've bought. We seem to move every few years. I always end up giving them away to plant lovers because the moving company won't move them.

I bought a few tropicals a while back just to give some life to the house. Haven't found appropriate pots for them yet. I'm getting pickier about what I grow because I don't like bugs or messes. No more indoor hibiscus or ferns. Also am going to try growing pineapples, papaya and some other tropical edibles indoors for a while.

African violets and a few other non flowering non toxics (we have indoor cats). Can't imagine not having plants inside. Nurturing them and watching them bloom is so satisfying.

I have lots of "house plants" but they stay outside in the shade most of the time. If I have company coming and I want to "dress things up a little", I bring some of them inside and then I take them back out. I have a sun porch that is all windows down two sides, and plants do very well in there, and I keep them in there in the winter, but there are too many to have them inside all the time. I have mostly epiphyllums, commonly called orchid cactus. They are a jungle cactus...not a desert cactus, and I also have a lot of hoyas, some ferns and alocasias. The alocasias are shaped like elephant ears but have a shinier leaf and I have some very pretty variegated ones.
