I can see (not clearly) cataract surgery in my future

I've been told I have cataracts that will eventually need surgery. I asked the doctor how I'll know it's time, and she said, "When you notice several times a day that you're not seeing clearly, and when you have to avert your eyes to the side of the road to avoid the glare of headlights when you drive at night." I didn't say this, but that describes me every day.

It's always dark when I drive home from work, and this spring it's been raining nine times out of ten. My night vision seems to be getting worse all the time, and it reached a new low tonight. Without other cars around, a couple of times I lost sight of the road completely. If it wasn't for reflectors on the guardrail, I'm sure I would have driven off it.

So.......I'm wondering what's involved in the surgery. I understand it's a simple procedure, but will I be able to come right home and take care of my dogs myself? How much time will I have to take off work?

I'm sure some KTers will know the answers. Thanks!

Susan
