If there was a song title, or line in a song that was your life

wendylynders

In a nutshell, what song or line from the song would it be?

You can have more than one.

Right now, at this very moment.... from Chumba Wumba, the line that says,

*I get knocked down, but I get up again, you're never going to keep me down*....

I love that song when I feel really sad...

Or,

Lord I lift your name on High....

Right now in my life I would have to say I Just Don't Look Good Naked Anymore would fit me pretty good since I've lost so much weight.

I know what it's like to be forgotten Left alone with your simple dreams Even they are fading fast No one to turn to, no one to hold at night And waking up to another day that'll soon be over And if you think time has forgotten you Well just look into my eyes and see the love we share Don't hold back your love, 'cause I know it's here-ere I wanna see it come to life before my eye-eye-eyes Don't be mistaken, there's still work to do Gotta get up every single day and face the judge and jury No one will notice, they've got their own lives We got somethin' they ain't got Someday it'll be there surprise And if you think there is no place to ru-un Just hold on to my hand and face the melti-ing sun Don't hold back your love, 'cause I know it's here-ere I wanna see it come to life before my eye-eye-eyes Don't hold back your lo-o-ove, show me your hear-ear-eart And I will aways be here by your side... One more chance to find the middle ground One more chance before the sun goes down One more night to hold you in my ar-arms again Don't hold back your love, 'cause I know it's here-ere I wanna see it come to life before my eye-eye-eyes Don't hold back your lo-o-ove, show me your hear-eart And I will always be here by your side Don't hold back your love Don't hold back your love, show me your hear-eart And I will always be here by your side Don't hold back your love Don't hold back your love, show me your hear-eart I wanna see it come to life before my eyes... Don't hold back your love, don't hold back your love Here is a link that might be useful: Maybe this is it?

At the moment I'd love mine to be "Girls just want to have fun". There is not much of fun in my life anymore, but somehow I'm gonna get through it.

I guess about right now-the only one roaming around in my brain is.."You'll Never Walk Alone" as I'm trying to fortify myself for the near future. My DH was diagnosed with lung cancer this afternoon.

Oh Sharon, I am so sorry. Your news make my song choice seem trite. I'm not even going to post it.

    ((((Sharon and DH))))

I've got lots of them that fit different times of my life but to put me and how I've been most of my life in a nutshell I think this one pretty much covers it.

    Let Me Be (the Turtles)

Please don't mistake me or try to make me
    The shadow of anybody else
I ain't the him or her you think I am
I'm just trying hard to be myself
Oh, society's goal is to be part of the whole
That may sound good to you, not to me

Let me be, let me be
To think like I want to
Let me be, let me be
That's all I ask of you
I am what I am and that's all I ever can be

Don't try to plan me or understand me
I can't stand to be understood
I could never give in to or ever live up to
Being like you think I should
I've got some inner need which I'm tryin' to heed
    I can't take hand-me-down destiny

Let me be, let me be,
To think like I want to
Let me be, let me be
That's all I ask of you
I am what I am and that's all I ever can be

Don't try to change me or rearrange me
To satisfy the selfishness of you
I'm not a piece of clay to mold to your moves each day
And I'm not a pawn to be told how to move
I'm sorry I'm not the fool you thought would play by your rules
    But to-each-his-own philosophy

Let me be, let me be,
To think like I want to
Let me be, let me be
That's all I ask of you
I am what I am and that's all I ever can be

I said that's all I ever can be
I said that's all I ever can be
I said that's all I ever can be

"...without your sweet love, what would life be?"

I can't remember for sure, but I think that was the Everly Brothers. Let it be me.
"I bless the day I found you, built my whole world around you. Now and forever, let it be me. Each time we meet love, I find complete love...(then back to the top)

Did I get that right? I love that song.

    Frank Sinatra's "MY WAY":

And now, the end is here
And so I face the final curtain
My friend, I'll say it clear
I'll state my case, of which I'm certain
    I've lived a life that's full
I traveled each and ev'ry highway
And more, much more than this, I did it my way

    Regrets, I've had a few
But then again, too few to mention
I did what I had to do and saw it through without exemption
I planned each charted course, each careful step along the byway
And more, much more than this, I did it my way

Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew
But through it all, when there was doubt
I ate it up and spit it out
I faced it all and I stood tall and did it my way

I've loved, I've laughed and cried
I've had my fill, my share of losing
And now, as tears subside, I find it all so amusing
To think I did all that
And may I say, not in a shy way,
"Oh, no, oh, no, not me, I did it my way"

For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, then he has naught
To say the things he truly feels and not the words of one who kneels
The record shows I took the blows and did it my way!

I'm with kayjones...that's the first words that came to my mind when I read this post. I have no regrets and when it's all said and done I pray I will be able to hum "I Did it My Way"......

When DD went off to college last year.. the lyrics of the Fergie song Big Girls Don't Cry was fitting (for me, not her).
And I'm gonna miss you like a child misses their blanket
But Ive got to get a move on with my life
Its time to be a big girl now
    And big girls don't cry

I remember when Bruce Springsteen's Dancing In the Dark came out. It felt like it had been written just for me.

From Ani DiFrancos "Cradle and All":

Maybe I'll live my whole life
    Just getting by.
    Maybe I'll be discovered,
    Maybe I'll be colonized
You can try to train me like a pet.
You can try to teach me to behave.

    But I'll tell you, if I haven't learned it yet;
    I ain't gonna sit and
    I ain't gonna stay........

I like "Through The Years" by Kenny Rogers. It always reminds me so much of DH & me. Also, "Wind Beneath My Wings", which I love.

"I say your name 'cause no one else does
I sing your song 'cause no one will"
... I've always loved the little things, and things that are easily overlooked or forgotten ... and finally there's a song that expressed it. By the Slackers, released just this year.

    This would be mine:
    At Seventeen, by Janis Ian

    "AT SEVENTEEN"
    By Janis Ian

I learned the truth at seventeen
That love was meant for beauty queens
And high school girls with clear skinned smiles
Who married young and then retired
    The valentines I never knew
The Friday night charades of youth
Were spent on one more beautiful
At seventeen I learned the truth...

And those of us with ravaged faces
    Lacking in the social graces
    Desperately remained at home
    Inventing lovers on the phone
Who called to say "come dance with me"
    And murmured vague obscenities
It isn't all it seems at seventeen...

A brown eyed girl in hand me downs
Whose name I never could pronounce
Said: "Pity please the ones who serve
They only get what they deserve"
    The rich relationed hometown queen
    Marries into what she needs
    With a guarantee of company
    And haven for the elderly...

So remember those who win the game
Lose the love they sought to gain
In debitures of quality and dubious integrity
Their small-town eyes will gape at you
In dull surprise when payment due
    Exceeds accounts received at seventeen...

To those of us who knew the pain
    Of valentines that never came
And those whose names were never called
    When choosing sides for basketball
It was long ago and far away
the world was younger than today
when dreams were all they gave for free
to ugly duckling girls like me...

We all play the game, and when we dare
    We cheat ourselves at solitaire
    Inventing lovers on the phone
    Repenting other lives unknown
That call and say: "Come on, dance with me"
    And murmur vague obscenities
At ugly girls like me, at seventeen...

often on my way to work i'll play talking heads and i'll laugh myself all the way there w/ this...

i'm on the road to nowhere (LOL)

WELL WE KNOW WHERE WE'RE GOIN'
BUT WE DON'T KNOW WHERE WE'VE BEEN
AND WE KNOW WHAT WE'RE KNOWIN'
BUT WE CAN'T SAY WHAT WE'VE SEEN
    AND WE'RE NOT LITTLE CHILDREN
AND WE KNOW WHAT WE WANT
    AND THE FUTURE IS CERTAIN
GIVE US TIME TO WORK IT OUT

We're on a road to nowhere
    Come on inside
    Takin' that ride to nowhere
    We'll take that ride

    I'm feelin' okay this mornin'
    And you know,
We're on the road to paradise
Here we go, here we go

    CHORUS

Maybe you wonder where you are
    I don't care
Here is where time is on our side
    Take you there...take you there

We're on a road to nowhere
We're on a road to nowhere
We're on a road to nowhere

There's a city in my mind
Come along and take that ride
and it's all right, baby, it's all right

    And it's very far away
But it's growing day by day
And it's all right, baby, it's all right

They can tell you what to do
But they'll make a fool of you
And it's all right, baby, it's all right

We're on a road to nowhere

i'm an 80's child, extremely well educated, working in a job where i'm well paid but utilize very little of my knowledge and feel like i'm going nowhere fast...lol but atleast well paid lol. it's part of a bigger plan for my life... another fav is sinatra's the best is yet to come. it was the last song at both of our wedding receptions. it represents to me that even thou i've have a fabulous life so far there is even more fabulous thigs still ahead. i absolutely worship music and have tons of songs that have meaning for something in my past or life now that i relate to all the time :-) ~ liz
