I did not watch it Glenda, but I have seen many shows over the past week about this character. The Aruban authorities are as much to blame for this poor girls murder as Joran IMO.
What a disgrace, I bet he lasts no more than a week in that prison in Peru before someone takes him down.

Have been following this story for 5 years. He's despicable, seriously mentally ill, his family made him that way. His mother, from where I sit is another Mrs. Peterson.

Normally, I'm a big fan of the justice system, following the rules and making people pay for their crime according to the laws society has set down. In this case? I'm more than willing to make an exception--anyone willing to take him out in prison (and word is that in Peru, a 'hitman' can be had for about $50) will have done the world a favor and should be considered a hero, IMO.

He is an enabled Sociopath and Daddy cleaned up his
messes. And, Aruba allowed it, because Daddy was a
Judge.

I would be looking very closely for other missing
girls in the places he has "traveled and gambled" in.

I think he would be better served to have to spend
the rest of his life in a Peruvian prison. Death
would be too kind.

I missed it but agree with molly109 completely. He's been babied and enabled. He has to clean up his own messes now that daddy is gone, and he knows he's screwed.

I would never say this. To do so takes some of the responsibility from Van der Sloot. He deserves ALL the responsibility, HE committed murder. The Aruban authorities may have mishandled, or been stuck between a rock & a hard spot. This is a group of people... how can they each individually or even as a group, deserve to be called murderers? Their actions or inactions may have allowed him to go free, but HE is the MURDERER. They ~may~ deserve other labels, but save MURDERER for VdS.

Plus if you had watched Dateline, there was a gambler at the same table, who went to the man in charge, to tell him about joran, and his bud's talking about getting their women after gambling. Said the language was so foul and disgusting he left the table to inform somone. Then left the casino.

There was mention on the news channels a couple of days ago that they also suspect him of killing a couple of Columbian girls.

I'm sure he'll have all the "dates" he ever wanted once he's in his new jail IMHO

He couldn't have been caught in a better place than Peru. I am sure he will get justice there! They say it's the worst place to be in prison. I'm sure he thought he could be extradited and would talk his way out of it again in Aruba. Too bad.

At least he has been stopped. Just pray he doesn't wriggle out of this somehow. I don't think he can.

Well we knew this was coming.........Joran had claimed two men were hiding in the room and beat Ms. Flores right in front of him making him a "witness". He claims she had been robbed of her money the previous day and he was a witness to that crime too. What other stories will be coming forth?

"A man came out of the bathroom blocking the access door with a knife in his hand. On the bed was another man with a gun," the Spanish-language report quotes him as saying. "The man with the knife said to be quiet, but Stephany began talking in a loud voice and he hit her in the face, making her nose bleed."

It also says Van der Sloot told Chilean agents that the previous day, he and Flores had been extorted by apparent police officers who demanded $4,000 and a wristwatch he brought from Thailand.

He must think everybody is stupid.

I don't think he has any wiggle room this time. There was no one else coming or leaving the hotel room besides him and the girl. I am sure the Peru authorities are not believing a word he says. How many more stories is he going to tell. He has no chance in HE** of getting out of it this time. I also wouldn't doubt he has killed others. He is a sociopath of the worst kind.

Izzie, I would not doubt he has killed others either. He's very sick.

A lot of people are suspecting he may be a serial killer and gotten away with it for a long time. I think he may be a spree killer along the lines of Andrew Cunanan (who killed Gianni Versace). Spree killers have poorly hatched plans and robbery is often the motive, though sometimes rape is involved. Spree killers don't make much of an effort to conceal the corpse, and do dumb things that leave a trail (Cunanan used his real name when pawning his victim's belongings.) Spree killers "snap" for some reason and start a killing spree. There may be an interval between the first and subsequent murders and earlier murders are spread further apart, but the murders tend to happen closer and closer together as time goes on. (Towards the end Dahmer was killing a new victim every week.)

The video at the casino shows a lot of awkward hand shaking going on AKA 'the pass' for drugs. Note the movement of Jorans hands after he shakes her hand. Note how she does not want to stay. It is likely they went back to the hotel to do drugs together (this is not an uncommon situation and I an NOT blaming the victim). Maybe they just went to do online gambling since they both like to gamble and the casino closed at 5:00.

Note in the casino video below the guy in the green shirt on the left who sits down at the very same time as Joran. Joran weirdly shakes his hand with a prolonged clasp before he departs and does the same with another guy he passes who had been "hanging around". Could Joran be buying date rape drugs? Had one of these guys been paid to drug her drink when she was not looking? Something seemed to be "cooking".

Money(chips?) and drugs look like they were being passed. There seemed to be a plan of action.
