Is anyone watching The Following?

There hasn't been much tv on lately and some of the good ones are coming back, some of the really goods ones aren't. We watched the premier of The Following with Kevin Bacon. Riveting and certainly worth watching. What did you think if you watched it?

I started to watch it because I like Kevin Bacon, but it was too gory and I ended up switching channels.

Be careful about low-carb high-protein diets. It may be okay to eat like that for a little while to lose some weight, but it is definitely not a healthy long-term diet. Carbohydrates are very important for cell activity throughout the body. The secret is to keep the blood sugar levels as steady as possible. If it is too high, the excess carbohydrates are turned into fat. If it gets too low, you won't be able to effectively burn any fat. "Good" carbs don't cause a quick raise in blood sugar levels. The glycemic index and glycemic load are definitely worth looking at. They give you a very good idea of which carbs to eat and which ones to avoid. For people who are not diabetic, I wouldn't recommend strictly counting all the carbs or indexes or calories. That would tke all the fun out of eating. Potatoes and whole wheat/grain pasta, brown rice and other not too refined products are very healthy and don't make you fat. They give you much more fiber than a high-protein diet will give you. The problem with eating too much protein is that the digestion of protein yields in large amounts of uric acid and the kidneys have to work hard to get rid of it. Animal proteins are worse than plant proteins. Too much uric acid in the blood can lead to gout. The recommendations for a well-balanced diet are 40% carbs, 40% protein and 20% fat in regards to the total calorie intake. 40-30-30 like RoxieL states above is close to that, but a little too high in fat. The daily recommended amount of fiber is 35 gram which is quite a lot. Most people, including vegetarians, get too much protein and fat, but not enough fiber. By the way, fiber is also a carbohydrate!

Tally - Wasn't Broadchurch intriguing? It drew me in from the very first moments and my interest never lagged. Watching the Mother running along the road toward the beach was such a simple yet dramatic moment. It was so well done and the acting superb. I watched 3 or 4 episodes of Dome. It started out so well but then started losing steam and I gave up.

I felt the same Ded- the beginning was so annoyingly ludicrous that I turned it off after about 20 minutes. The initial premise is rather disturbing and I just couldn't imagine devoting 4 hours to the denouement. But the next morning I walked with some friends and two of them encouraged me to try it again. So I promised to at least watch the first episode and I'm glad I did. It takes a little while for the plot to develop - more characters are woven into the story line and there are quite a few plot twists. And that's what caught my interest - and what you think is true - well, it may not be. I don't usually find black comedy to be entertaining, it's more of a cerebral appreciation of gallows humor - because very little of it is funny. I just read that there will be a Season 2 which should be interesting.

I recall seeing a shortened version of this back in my high school days which would have been in the 70s. I think it was for a music appreciation class. I remember some studio clips and their famous rooftop concert. So when I saw this advertised I though, "Well they probably had a lot of unused footage from that shorter video so now they are trying to capitalize on it. I'll bet a lot of it was boring stuff." So not going to spend the dough for that. I'm a Beatles fan, but I had a feeling it would be a tough slog. But yes, that rooftop concert . . . !!!!!! Proves that they weren't just a studio talent, that they could crank out pure rock and roll like nobody's business. All those early years playing clubs . . . I have seen Beatles cover bands twice, and that music rocks in live performance no matter who is playing it, it's just pure rock and roll genius. RE Yoko, I just have no appreciation for her talent, but I'd hardly blame her for the Beatles break up. Most bands do break up as the artists mature into different individual interests. And yes, there was something creepy about her sitting there, but she has said in interviews that John wanted her to be there. I imagine she was kind of bored so that's probably a lot of the vibe.

I really liked it. It has the makings of being spell binding, terrifying and suspenseful.

What a sick freakin' puppy that guy is huh?

I stopped watching after 13 minutes.
Too much graphic gore. The ice-pick
in the forehead did it for me.

I hate gore & horror! There is enough of it in the world already without having to see it.

I liked it. Much better than some of the other continuing stories like Deception or Revenge or Revolution. I will watch it again. I liked Last Resort but knew it wasn't going to last so I stopped watching it.

I started to watch but the blood and gore overcame my liking for Kevin Bacon. I can always just play more Solitaire.

Would someone please remind me when it is on?... I saw the preview and wanted to watch it. I usually love everything Kevin Bacon is in. I'm watching The River Wild right now, with him in it. He does play those weird guy parts great....

I started to watch it with my husband - and our dog on my knee. I had to stop - those who watched it will know why....and when I left the room.

It has the potential to be really good. I'm just afraid that the premise of this guy having a cult following of thousands is too far fetched. If he were living in the world, it might fly; but, a dealth-row inmate - hours from death. I don't think it's going to be successful.

I had to same feeling with Last Resort. The first episode was gripping. By the second episode I was getting angry. The premise of our military setting the stage for an imaginary war and hanging the sailors out to dry was beyond this navy wife. Turned it off and never looked back.

I'm glad others didn't buy into it either. Our military needs moral support, not to be taken for fools.

I missed (ignored) the pilot but it just came on after Bones and I remembered reading this so I watched for a while. And kept watching. By the end, when she brought him the book, it began to look Silence of the Lambs-ish.

Now I have to go watch the pilot to be up to speed for next week. It has possibilities--more than I can say for most of the recent programming.

I didn't want to see it because of the gore, but we watched it anyway. Liked the plot; reminded me of Charles Manson and Silence of the Lambs. Will keep watching.

eccentric - after watching the pilot, I hugged my German Shepherd dog tight.
