yes he is a member of the team, very knowledgeable fellow. We have a team from all over the world that really works great together. Often times there are several people working on a case behind the scenes communicating with each other and one person does the posting, other times depending on who is available at the moment some one else will step in and post. They work on many help forums so you may go to a new forum and recognize the names. You are in excellent hands.
One of the reasons I wanted to have you let the team check your logs and find out what threats malwarebytes found was to see if it was something that could have made your information vulnerable, and I am really glad you got that phone call. I don't know yet if it is related but they will know more soon from the logs.

OK, it's just that being new to LzD I don't know who's who. I'm afraid to take the advice of someone who just wants to chime in and have that advice be contrary to what Corinne (or Winchester) would do. I don't want to screw this up more than it is, and I do want to find out if I have a problem with sensitive information being vulnerable.

Landzdown or better known as LzD is another forum I am on that is a computer help forum with some of the best of the best at helping to clear a pc of an infection and also fix problems. The people there are pros, in fact many are MVP award winners, Corrine has been an MVP winner for many years. LzD is also an ASAP forum, ASAP stands for the Alliance of Security Analysis Professionals
It is the place to go if you have a problem, I have sent several people over there and they all had successful outcomes.

For your malwarebytes logs just do what you normally do to run malwarebytes open the program but instead of letting it run look along the top and there are some tabs there one of the tabs says logs if you click that it will show you what it found on your scans that is what you need to copy and pasted over there so we can see what the infections were that malwarebytes found, that will help determine what direction to go and what to look for that could still be hiding.
Generally the only ones that will respond to you in that area of LzD will be the pros. As you can see if you look under both Corrine's name and Winchester's you will see that they are both Admin on LzD so you will be in good hands with them.

Thanks for the info about your friends at LzD RC. Their instructions are very clear and easy to follow, so far. I feel very secure that I am in good hands. It's great that there are folks like you and the LzD people to help those of us who aren't so proficient around all these programs and malware.

I edited because I forgot to mention that, taking your advice, I started up my laptop the other day and I've done a couple of updates . I did the SP2 update today. It went off w/o a hitch. I'm using the laptop to post this, as I'm doing another scan on the n desktop. I guess Vista is only up to #2.

Yes, I'm very glad that it worked. I would hate to have both of these computers acting like the desktop is. I actually got this laptop back when I did the SP2 update on the desktop and I thought that it was a goner. I guess that was about 3 or 4 yrs ago. This laptop is probably obsolete by now, it has 2 Gb of RAM and a 320 HD. It hasn't been used much and looks brand new and hasn't given me any problems for the little amt of time I've used it.
