Serving myself at Golden Corral today, and dived into the fried chicken livers. I thought they looked a bit small. So as I was filling my plate with other edibles, I decided to munch on a liver.

NOT!!

GIZZARDS

Headed for table and napkin to spit it out.

GAG!

Cannot eat gizzards!

So the question is: What foods make you gag?

Mayonaise...Miracle Whip...mustard..brussel sprouts,lots more.
I don't blame you Glenda...gizzards would make me gag too!

I didn't know people ate chicken gizzards. I thought they were something you boil to make broth for gravy.

Last night was class 2 of my decorating class. This time it wasn't so bad. We brought in our own icing and practiced making stars, lines, dots and writing out Happy Birthday on plastic covered pictures of what we were practing. Sort of like tracing. I made a mean star. Circles were okay, gotta learn how to not get that little tip on the center of it. My writing stinks. Maybe practice makes perfect? Next week we take in already baked cupcakes and we'll be making clowns and roses. Looking forward to learning to make a rose. The instructor still licked her fingers all night long and I can't help but wish she would wax her mustache. There is one girl in the class who came with her mother; very immature, yelling out things, giggling uncontrollably, just really acting strange and I honestly thought she was a mentally challenged teenager. Come to find out, she is 10 yrs old. All along she's just been acting like a 10 yr old girl. But she sure does look older. Another woman, her husband died 18 mths ago. I didnt know this and had no way of knowing ... anyway and when she cut the cake last week, I sang, "The Bride Cuts and Cake"....... oye vey! She then sang, "The Widow Cuts the Cake".......I wanted to crawl into a hole. Well, she wasn't there last night because she was too sad; yesterday would have been her husband's birthday. Another woman who has taken this course before and never went onto Course II. She is the class know-it-all. She's getting on my last nerve I tell ya. The woman next to me, if the instructor touches her things, moves them in any way, she freaks and it messes her up. So now the instructor knows not to touch her things. The woman opened up her Decorating Kit and her spatula wasnt in a plastic bag and her brush didin't have a cap on it, she had the instructor return it and get her one that "someone hadn't already used". I would have switched with her but I had already stuck my spatula into the icing. She was being so anal about everything, more so than me and I couldn't help but cackle when she found a hair in her icing an it was her own. hahahaha! Interesting night~

Do you mean bread alone - with no meat? Can't help you there (or with a crockpot recipe) but this is a good make-ahead recipe and doesn't need to be piping hot, just warmed up is fine. Ever since I first made this, its all I make and my family loves it. Thanks, Marilyn! Bread and Sausage Stuffing (Marilyn) 2 pounds white bread 2 pounds pork sausage 6 stalks celery; chopped 2 onions; chopped 1 cup butter 2 teaspoons dried sage 1 teaspoon dried thyme salt and pepper to taste 2 cloves garlic; minced 1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley 4 eggs 6 cups chicken stock Cut bread into cubes and lay out to dry. In a large skillet, cook sausage until well browned; place in a large mixing bowl along with drippings. Cook onions and celery in butter until tender but not brown. Add all ingredients to the large bowl along with the sausage. Stir together well and pour into a greased 9X13X2-inch baking dish and bake at 350Â° for 30 to 45 minutes until puffed and golden but not too dry. And not that you asked - but I think this is a terrific recipe and its now what I do every Thanksgiving. Cook's Country Make-Ahead Turkey Gravy Makes about 2 quarts For more flavor, after roasting the turkey you can skim the drippings from the pan and add them to the gravy just before serving. It's best to discard the strong-tasting liver before using the giblets. This recipe makes enough to accompany a large turkey and still have plenty for leftovers. 6 turkey drumsticks, thighs, or wings reserved turkey giblets reserved turkey neck 2 carrots , chopped coarse 1 head garlic , halved 2 ribs celery , chopped coarse 2 onions , chopped coarse Vegetable oil spray 10cups low-sodium chicken broth 2 cups dry white wine 12 sprigs fresh thyme 1/2 cup all-purpose flour Table salt and ground black pepper 1. Adjust oven rack to middle position and heat oven to 450 degrees. Place giblets, neck, drumsticks, carrots, celery, onions, and garlic in roasting pan, spray with vegetable oil, and toss well. Roast, stirring occasionally, until well browned, 1 to 1 1/2 hours. 2. Transfer contents of roasting pan to Dutch oven. Add broth, wine, and thyme and bring to boil over high heat. Reduce heat to low and simmer until reduced by half, about 1 1/2 hours. Pour through fine-mesh strainer into large container (discard solids), cover stock with plastic wrap, and refrigerate until fat congeals, at least 2 hours. 3. Using soup spoon, skim fat and reserve. Heat 1/2 cup fat in Dutch oven over medium-high heat until bubbling. Whisk in flour and cook, whisking constantly, until honey colored, about 2 minutes. Gradually whisk in stock, bring to boil, reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer until slightly thickened, about 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. (Gravy can be refrigerated for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 2 months.) Reheat gravy in saucepan over medium heat until bubbling.

These simple appetizers are something that we always have on hand for surprise guests. They freeze extremely well, are very easy to make, and are always popular. They go together very well with the rest of this festive menu and require no preparation time at all on a very busy day. Simply defrost and eat! Makes 60 bites 6 ounces marinated artichoke hearts in oil 6 ounces roasted bell peppers 1 small chopped onion 2 minced cloves garlic 4 eggs 2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese 1/4 cup dry bread crumbs 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley Dash hot pepper sauce Freshly ground black pepper Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and grease an 8 inch baking dish. Drain the artichoke hearts, reserving 2 tablespoons of the oil. Drain the roasted peppers and discard the liquid. Finely chop the artichoke hearts and peppers and set aside. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the reserved oil, onion, and garlic. Cook for five minutes, or until soft and translucent. Remove from the heat and cool slightly. Beat the eggs in a large bowl until thick and lemon colored. Beat in the remaining ingredients along with the artichoke hearts, peppers, and onion mixture. Pour into the prepared pan. Bake for 30 minutes, or until pale golden brown. Cool for 15 minutes, then cut into one inch squares. Tightly wrap and refrigerate for up to 2 days, or freeze for up to a month. Boyohboy, don't I agree on the American Processed Food thing, read that ingredient list and some of it can't even be pronounced and probably shouldn't be consumed! I have, however, eaten horse. Back in 1973, there was a PBB poisoning of cattle in Michigan. Several thousand pounds of fire retardant was accidentally added to livestock food. After a lot of cover ups, finger pointing and denial, it was determined that the feed was contaminated. The government said there were only two disposal sites, but later investigation turned up many more throughout the state. All health departments in the state were contacted and only two responded. In the burial pits; 33,000 cattle, 1.5 million chickens 1,470 sheep, 5,920 hogs, 865 tons of feed, 17,900 pounds of cheese, 2,630 pounds of butter, 34,000 pounds of dry milk and 5 million eggs were buried.These events were portrayed in the 1981 in the documentary "Cattlegate" by Jeff Jackson, the true-fiction film Bitter Harvest starring Ron Howard, and in the book "The Poisoning of Michigan" by Joyce Egginton. At first the deaths of the animals were blamed on the farmer's lack of care or skill. Yeah. After a year, the animals were culled. Most of Michigan still has PBB in their system and the USDA says that most of Michigan's farms are so contaminated that every product produced is contaminated with some level of PBB. Anyway, as farmers were bulldozing their livestock and livelihoods into pits, everyone was afraid to eat beef. Horse meat became very common. We were lucky, because we raised out own livestock feed and purchased none of the contaminated stuff. I remember some guy from Chicago stopping at the farm and telling Dad he'd give him 17 cents a pound for the whole herd. Dad told him that for 17 cents a pound he'd eat every damned one of them himself. So, anyway, nearly everyone in Michigan during that time has eaten horse meat. Annie

Must be a southern thing, alisande, people here love chicken gizzards, but not me.

Lady next to me was filling her plate with gizzards, and told her they weren't chicken livers. She said I LOVE GIZZARDS, duh!

When I was a little girl my aunt made delicious dumplings and chicken gizzards and would call my mom to send me over each time she made them.

I like chicken gizzards. You gotta double dip them and fry them real slow so they get tender.

Mayonnaise and milk. Soggy anything......like over buttered toast that's been sitting.

I can eat chicken livers but don't really care for them.

I LOVE gizzards. When my mom would make fried chicken I was always glad to be the first one home. It meant I got the gizzard straight out of the pan sizzling hot. Yum.

Glenda, I abhor liver and chicken gizzards. The worse trouble I got into when I was little was when my grandmother fried up chicken livers (she loved them) for supper and I fed my cat mine under the table. She praised me for eating all my livers.(she thought it built the blood) Sometime later there was a god awful smell in our bedroom(I slept with her mostly)she went looking for the smell, and found those chicken livers under the bed where my cat had carried them . I had to get them out and clean it up plus I got the board of education applied to the seat of understanding. (If you know what I mean) She was really, really mad, especially since I had told her I had eaten them.(lied) What I always wondered - if they were so good, why didn't the cat eat them? But, I assure you I NEVER ask my grandmother that question.

No gizzards for me but I do love chicken livers! When I was a kid and my mother would fry chicken,I got the liver,DB got the gizzard.My boys like gizzards.DH won't eat either one.I could never see why anyone would want to eat a gizzard!LOL Our Chicken Express has the best fried chicken livers.They are HUGE! When I'm hungry for livers I go there.I also love fried liver smothered in onions and gravy.Mother fixed it every Friday for dinner when I was growing up.
What foods make me gag? Oysters is the only thing that pops into my head but I'm sure there are others.

I don't think there are any foods that make me gag. There are few foods I won't eat...or at least try.

I love liver...chicken or pork or beef...all cooked with plenty of onions and maybe bacon.

I also like gizzards.

sunnyside up eggs and milk. When I was a waitress, I would have to have someone else take the plate or glass out if someone ordered these items. I can't even look at a person drinking a glass of milk, it makes me gag.

Any crustacean with its head still on, from shrimp to lobster. Yuck!
Squid tentacles in any form. But batter fried calimari rings are okay.
Octopus in any form. Just the idea makes me gag.
Chicken feet -- I kid you not, they were served in a local high-end sushi bar.
Sardines, mackerel and anchovies. Oily and/or salty and/or rancid tasting -- yuck.
Vegemite. Double yuck.

Nothing really ordinary gags me, though.

I love gizzards! My Grandmother was another one that made gizzards & dumplings! I like chicken livers..but they have to be from Popeye's!*S*

I'm not a gagger, so nothing really makes me gag!

I think the only things I don't like are probably seafood things like shrimp, oysters, lobster and foods like that. Probably other things that I have never tried I would not like at all. But, liver yes. Gizzards, probably not.

Eeeeewwww - I have never heard of chicken livers or gizzards at a restaurant buffett. As for gagging, perhaps oysters (never eaten them - can't get past how they look) and runny egg whites.

I like gizzards! Our little home town restaurant serves chicken livers and gizzards every Thursday night and they always have a good size crowd that night.You can order both or one or the other. I don't like livers so I order just gizzards.
I don't do any gagging but I can't stand peas.

I hate chicken livers but love gizzards. I cook them for myself every once in a while.
Chicken livers have a grainy texture to me.
I love fried calf liver and smothered onions though.

I just can't do chicken fried steak. The mere sight of that battered and fried hunk of meat with white gravy congealing on top of it makes me gag, and parsnips.

Raw marshmallows, banana bread, tapioca pudding and some kind of foreign soda pop are the 4 things so far that have gagged me. I am willing to try anything once but if I don't like it i won't eat it. If it gags me first time I wont try it in any form ever again. Thank goodness the first time I tried marshmallow it was toasted over the fire. It would be a shame to miss out on toasted marshmallows.

To me snails and gizzards fit into the same category, tough, gristle like. Take away the good sauces and no one eat them.

There are some things I don't like but I can't think of anything that makes me gag. I could eat chicken liver but am not a big fan. Don't think I've ever eaten a gizzard.

I've never liked liver of ANY kind. When I had to start fixing chicken livers for my sister, Annie, I started eating them too. Now I cook them about once a month.

BUT the food that makes me gag is fried onions. I can eat onions raw or chopped VERY fine and added to foods such as meatloaf or spaghetti sauce....but NOT those slimy looking things that are fried by themselves. When my one sister and I go to this place that has great hamburgers, I get the mushrooms (which make her gag) and she gets the fried onions. We just don't look at each others food while we eat.

Random chicken parts are for best used to catch catfish.

I have a hard time eating meaty foods like tuna or chicken where I might bite into a bit of bone or gristle. Anything that has a hard piece that doesn't fit in with the rest of the texture makes me gag.

Gizzards are to tough for me. Love the livers, though.

At a buffet once, they had sweetbreads. They're the pancreas or something of a calf. They tasted terrible to me and I did gag. Also had smoked milt at a seafood festival one time and nearly threw up! Milt, I found out later, is the male answer to roe, if you know what I mean!!! EWWWWW!

Head cheese! Had to taste it out of courtesy, but put in mouth and when no one was looking deposited in napkin!

I've always liked chicken gizzards and livers (and all other kinds of liver too). I can't really think of any food that makes me gag, although there might be a couple that come close. When I was a kid, I couldn't swallow sweetened ice tea. I didn't gag but I just could not swallow it. Plain (unsweetened) was fine and I drink it either way now but prefer it unsweetened.

Canned stewed tomatoes. My grandmother forced me to finish up a dish of them when I was still in a high chair. She got the last spoonful into me, then they *all* 'returned'. I didn't eat any kind of tomatoes for years!

I'd forgotten about canned creamed corn. I never liked it except in corn pudding. Then a fellow we knew talked about working in a canning factory when he was young, with all the flies buzzing around and dropping into the vats! ICK!

I think a slimy texture is what gets my gagging reflex going. Oh and biting down on a fish bone or little piece of eggshell -- shivers!

I like beef and chicken livers, but not calf liver. (I won't eat veal for humane reasons.)

Any meat, milk, bleu cheese, soggy bread, sweet pickles, or canned spinach all make me gag.

I'm happy to say I just tried brussel sprouts again and kinda liked them!

Beef liver? Yum! Chicken livers? Taste like dirt!

Gizzards? Double yum!!!

But nothing really makes me gag. I've always said that I can eat just about anything, as long as it doesn't eat me first, LOL!
