Method brand cleaner - WOW!

I was in the grocery store and I met a woman in the cleaning product aisle who raved about Method brand cleaners. It's non-toxic stuff. I bought the tub and tile version and I just tried it on my soap scum/hard water stains and it was amazing! I've always used scrubbing bubbles but this worked even better.

I'm going to go back and see what else they have. It wasn't too pricey either - a bit over $4 in my local grocery store.

Has anyone else tried any of their products?

Hi Paula
Just for curiosity I googled this product and here are some of the results!
I think I will have to check this out! I also use Scrubbing Bubbles products
but if I can find this I am going to try out.

There are more results than just this one.

Method Shower Cleaner safe for limestone?
Q
Comments (2)
yes, I'm sorry. Two of the walls are limstone completely and the other two have mostly glass with a limestone base. The floor is limestone too. WHen I get home tonight I'll post photos. I did use it in my sink this morning. The hand soap from Bath and Body works leaves a scum on the nickel drain and the basin. It seemed to do a good, but not excellent job in removing that scum.I have to say that the shower feels and looks good, but the cleaning lady isn't as happy as I am. So who knows, she has more xperience than I do! LOL

Cameo ss cleaner--a winner!

I think ZUD is a little stronger? Not sure if same ingredients or not. My mom had told me about ZUD for removing metal marks on dishes (and inside coffee mugs, though I don't keep up with that I'm sorry to say) years, and years ago, so I've had it (powder) in my home ever since. When we purchased our A-C pots and pans our Le Creuset DO, the salesperson recommended BKF (powdered form) for cleaning them. Really makes a difference using it vs. not--removes the "film" that seems to remain after cleaning them with just dish soap. I use BKF on my Wolf range burner pans, on the underside of my hood when it needs it, on my sink.... I had gotten Cameo to clean up some of my old flatware pre-reno so kept that around. I think it's milder than BKF, maybe a little less oomph for some of the grungier cleaning jobs??? It might rinse away a little more easily than BKF (all the powdered cleaners seem to require a lot of rinsing, esp in our 0-radius sink with its flatter bottom). Depending on how grungy the sink is to begin with, and on pure whim, I'll grab one, or the other (BKF or Cameo) to clean it. Oh, I'll also use a small am't of BKF to remove mineral deposits and/or really stubborn soap film on our fireclay/porcelain bathroom sinks if our spray bathroom cleaners aren't successful. HTH!

Miele owners - which brand of stainless cleaner do you use?

You could try some acetone. But I think its going to take more of an effort. The nice thing about oven cleaner is that it saponifies the oils making them water soluble. Literally turning them into soap. I use to work for a large metal fabricator. We would would bring in rolled SS and run it through a bath of sodium hydroxide(lye) to clean it. It works beautifully. SS is not maintenance-free as many people believe it is. It tarnishes just like any other metal but slower. Oil-based "cleaners" do two things 1. they cover up fingerprints and 2. they slow down oxidation. But if you really want to maintain a brighter SS you must use an acid to clean it. It is just like polishing silver. The problem is you can't use an acid if the is a coating of oil on the metal. That is one of the causes of streaking. So in summary. Once you strip the oil off with an alkaline based cleaner then you can use the alcohol for everyday cleaning. Every once in a while, use a weak acid to remove the tarnish. Even vinegar might work if you do it frequently. I do not. So I resort to barkeepers. Which is a stronger acid. If it is good quality SS there should be no problem Kitchen grease is very tenacious. Unless you clean everyday, standard soap water is simply not strong enough. Although you could try some laundry detergent and VERY hot water. That might remove the oils. BTW if there is any printing on the surface of the metal DO NOT use acetone or Barkeepers. It will strip it right off. The key is not to start with Oil based "cleaners". There is enough oil floating around your kitchen already. There is no need to add insult to injury. Kind of makes you want to go back to the old glass front ovens and vinyl refrigerators. :) Sorry for the length!

Food/Cleaner Bag Recycling

The laundry detergent is not single serve nor is the soap refills I'm talking about. I'd wonder about the comparison of bar soap with their wrappers to a refill pouch. The reality is most people are too lazy to recycle. Method's point in what I quoted is that the pouch has lower environmental impact and I have to agree with them on it. Less fuel to transport, less space taken up in a landfill even figuring the percentage that could be recycled on a PET bottle. I do have a concern about 11 billion packets a year from Heinz alone. I'm guessing that's worldwide. But the pragmatic part of me asks are we being penny wise and pound foolish being concerned about ketchup packets when nearly twice that many disposable diapers are put in the landfills each year in the US alone? 1 ketchup packet or 2 diapers... I think I'll take the ketchup packs thank you! It's like the ones who criticize me (and others) for having a non-HE washer, but I do fewer loads to start with than my critics. I also wash my vehicles in the rain and snow where they use hoses and car washes. I don't water my lawn or flower garden. I take quick showers instead of 100 gallon whirlpool baths and I don't have or use a swimming pool or hot tub and the list goes on. Gotta put some priorities in place sometime. Not to say the packet isn't a concern and sometimes you tackle small problems first if they're easy. But we've really missed the boat ecologically on some other things. Another peeve of mine: The war on water. Why is water always the villain while pop, "sport drinks", 5 hr. Energy, and for that matter coffee cups and soft drink cups get by? Again, if you look at what's the healthier one, seems we should be endorsing water over sugar laden drinks and the HFCS folks can relax since water doesn't have it in there (yet). Again, I question priorities. I also wonder why people have to have so much stench in things. Why do laundry detergents have to smell to start with, requiring 30 different SKUs of one brand for different stench. Why not have dye/stench free and sell the stench and dye separately so you can add your own? And you can have all kinds of different stench to choose from. So much simpler, less hassles and lower costs. But that's three things the buying public don't want apparently. And they're too lazy to mix the two together. People have to have everything done for them. We really need to put on some boots. And boot some people in the aspirations. This post was edited by cynic on Wed, May 22, 13 at 15:58

I use dish soap for the tub and I dry the tile/insert every time I get out of the shower. I never have to use any other cleaner except vinegar around the faucets. I let it set for 5 or 10 minutes and scrub it with an old battery tooth brush. I also use dish soap in the stool a couple of times a week and once every 3 or 4 months I use toilet bowl cleaner. I swore when I moved into this new home I would find ways to clean without harsh chemicals. I did this because of my allergy to cleaner chemicals.

I've seen mixed reviews of Method. Most who have good luck with it really seem to like it. America's Test Kitchen (on PBS) likes the Go Naked dish soap and thought it was a little better than others they tested. Haven't tried any of the Method products yet. Have a good stock of cleaners and most of what I use I really like anyway so I'm not in too much of a hurry to change. But I've been watching for a deal on something I need to see what I think.

I just read the link, and it says that the scent of the toilet-bowl cleaner is eucalyptus.
This seems to be the latest scent. Just a Drop a bathroom deodorizer that I absolutely love, is blue, and is eucalyptus scented.
For those who get migraines from the smell of eucalyptus (there are a couple of women here), Just a Drop, now comes in other scents.

I use the granite and stainless steel cleaner and they are both good. The dish detergent is also great.

I really did not care for the Method dishwasher soap. It seemed to leave the dishes with streaks, especially the plastic things. I do have the almond floor oil, the liquid hand soap, and fabric sheets. I guess they are okay, not fond of the laundry detergent either.

I like Method liquid hand soap and have used it for a while. It wasn't advertised back then as "green". To tell you the truth I bought it because I like the shape of the bottle and the grapefruit fragrance. I used to get it at Target--never saw it anywhere else until lately.

I have tried several of the Method products and so far, I really love them all. I have been using their foaming hand soap for quite some time and wouldn't think of using anything else. Target sells the big refill bags for the foaming hand soap, so you're helping the environment by not buying a new container every time you run out of soap. I also love their 3X concentrated laundry detergent. I'm always amazed how great a job the small cap of detergent goes. My clothes are always so clean and smell so great. I also love the spray all purpose cleaner in the lavendar scent. I have always bought Method at Target but now my supermarket is carrying some of the items. Also, if any of you have a Big Lots near you, you may want to keep an eye out for some of the Method products, as they do have it from time to time. When I find it at Big Lots, I really stock up, as the pricing is great!!!
